Chapter 226: Chapter 227: The Hero Who Kills Wolves 6
Several men blockaded the door, not daring to open it. Inside, Li Chunhua was screaming, "Don’t open it! Absolutely do not open it. I haven’t even seen my boys marry yet. I haven’t been a mother-in-law yet!"
"Shut up!" Ma Xiulian scolded from inside the room, then repeated again to the three brothers, "Open the door."
Chen Jianguo glanced outside again; the wolves were still lying on the ground, but he wasn’t brave enough to open the door.
So he said, "Mom, why don’t we wait a little longer!"
Chen Jiandang and Chen Jianye also agreed, faces full of approval. With wolves littering the ground outside, they dared not open the door!
Xiu Mama Li couldn’t stand the sight of her sons seemingly cowering, she scolded with a stern face, "You guys, stop acting like scared little girls. Can’t you muster up some courage?!"
Helian Qiao looked at her timid uncles, quite frustrated. "These wolves aren’t scary at all, and they’re all unconscious," she pointed out.
Her voice soft and sweet, upon hearing it, Chen Dazhu hesitated for two seconds, then spoke up, "Open the door."
Their father has spoken. Chen Jianguo and his brothers exchanged a glance before slowly unbolting the door.
Hearing the door opening, Li Chunhua quickly took her two sons and slid under the bed.
Dani, Sini, and Liuni were huddled together on the bed, shivering with fear.
During the process of opening the door, everyone was tense, their eyes fixed on the door, hardly daring to blink. It felt like their hearts were about jump out of their throats.
However, Helian Qiao’s eyes sparkled with anticipation, hopeful for the abundant wolf meat outside.
Initially nervous, Ma Xiulian, now seeing her granddaughter’s excited expression upon the prospect of the meat, felt her anxiety dissipate.
When the door was finally opened, everyone collectively gasped.
The wolves were laying sprawled out everywhere. Their fangs and claws were visible, and a quick estimate showed there were roughly eleven wolves.
All the wolves seemed fully grown, easily capable of taking down a grown man.
"So much meat!" the Little Princess cheered happily.
And their meal had come right to their doorstep!
Hearing this, Ma Xiulian urged, "What are you all just standing around for?! Get out there!"
If she weren’t holding her granddaughter, she would’ve rushed out herself.
Chen Jianguo swallowed nervously, "Dad, I’ll go in front."
The men, each armed with some form of tool, carefully ventured out, trying hard not to make a noise, as if they were afraid of waking the slumbering wolves.
Inside, the Little Princess was about to burst at the seams with impatience. If her grandmother weren’t holding her so tightly, she would’ve gone out to catch a wolf herself.
Chen Jianguo gathered the courage to cautiously poke at a wolf nearest to him with his fork. When he saw that it was truly unconscious, he finally let out a sigh of relief.
He waved towards the house and announced, "It’s fine, they’re really all knocked out!"
His words acted as a calming effect, allowing everyone to finally breathe a sigh of relief.
Zhao Mei sagged to the ground, only then noticing that she was drenched in sweat.
Zhou Zhaodi, who was slightly braver, was still trembling all over.
She turned around and found that Chen Erbao had quietly slipped out of the house. He was standing behind her, his face full of excitement as he stared at the wolf with the brightest fur and thought, "This wolf looks so majestic!"
How cool would he be if he could keep one!
