Chapter 621: Chapter 311 Memory Recovery_3
Pan Yue’s impression of him had always been favorable, and she was very cooperative. She even said, "I have seen you in my dreams."
In order to help Pan Yue remember her past more quickly, Qian Yixiu sent out a message, asking Qian Manjiang to request that the Empress Dowager intervene. Their family would put forth forty thousand taels of silver to buy back the "Hope" screen from the Prince Shou Mansion.
That screen was the Former Imperial Consort’s favorite item. Hearing that the Qian family wanted to buy it back, she was utterly reluctant. But with the Empress Dowager intervening, and upon hearing of Pan Yue’s current condition, she could only reluctantly part with it, though it made her so upset that she fell ill.
After learning about this, the Empress Dowager personally visited the Former Imperial Consort at the Prince Shou Mansion and promised that once Pan Yue recovered, she would have a "Crane" garment made for her, just like the Empress Dowager’s. Later, when their time came to Return to Heaven, they would both wear such garments to join the former emperor, hoping to still be good sisters in the next life...
The Former Imperial Consort had always adored fine embroidery, passionate about it since her youth. She was incredibly envious of the Empress Dowager’s "Crane" garment. Touched by her promise, her illness gradually improved. Of course, that was a story for later on.
Prince Shou was adept at winning people over and immediately had the embroidered screen moved to the Qian Mansion, even refusing to accept the forty thousand silver notes offered by Qian Manjiang. The Qian family hurriedly sent over two small dual-sided screens that Pan Yue had embroidered with the Water ripple needle, as well as a gold-plated clock, a telescope purchased from Old Foreign Li, and a thousand-year Ginseng that Monkey Brother had gathered from the House of Animals on West Mountain.
When Pan Yue looked at that embroidery screen and saw the figure of the beauty on it, her long hair blown by the wind, and the layers upon layers of blooming flowers in front of the courtyard gate, her tears flowed nonstop. Touching the words embroidered with "Flowers wither and blossom again, yearning for your return year after year," she wept and said, "It’s true, it’s true, in my dreams, I embroidered it every day, every day longing for Brother Jiang to return quickly..."
As the cool autumn breeze set in and the weather turned chilly, Pan Yue, although she had not fully remembered what she had forgotten, had come to accept that the events from her dreams had truly occurred to her. She could face everyone in the Qian family with ease, except for Qian Manjiang.
In her heart, she had already accepted Qian Manjiang, but she just couldn’t face him outwardly.
Every time she thought of Qian Manjiang, her heart filled with tender emotions and warmth. She knew he was her closest and most beloved person, the Brother Jiang who had once been so intimately close to her. But remembering the romantic scenes from her dreams, their intimate actions, and the foolish things she had been led to do and say, she was so embarrassed she wished she could just hide away.
That evening, Qian Yixiu had the doors to Xiyue Garden opened and invited all the members of the Qian family to meet with Pan Yue. She also sent for Zhu Sujin from Prince Ning Mansion. Of course, Old man Qian and Old woman Qian were excluded; these two were the villains from her mother’s dreams, particularly Old woman Qian who had not been kind to her in the past.
The Qian family members were overjoyed upon hearing that Pan Yue wished to see them and rushed to Xiyue Garden.
Lady Wu, supporting Qian Sangui, led the way, followed by Qian Manjiang. Qian Manjiang held Jingjing with one hand and Mingming with the other. As they entered the hall and walked past the "Hope" embroidered screen, they saw Pan Yue calmly seated in a circular chair. She was dressed in a fragrant green embroidered lotus satin jacket with a rosy-pink horse-face skirt sprinkled with flowers, and merely a pearl hairpin atop her head. She looked thinner and paler than three months ago, her eyes clear but unable to hide the excitement and a trace of panic.
"Yueyue," called Qian Sangui, Lady Wu, and Qian Manjiang.
Mingming and Jingjing, finally seeing their mother, timidly called out, "Mother, Mother." Their father had instructed them not to frighten their mother, so they obediently stayed in place and called out quietly.
Pan Yue stood up, walked over to Qian Sangui and Lady Wu, knelt before them, and with tears said, "Father-in-law, mother-in-law, there are no better or kinder parents-in-law in this world than you. I will forever hold the kindness you have shown Yueyue in my heart."
Grandma Wu helped her up, tears in her eyes, and said, "Good child, you are the best daughter-in-law, we are a family."
"Yueyue, do you remember me?" Qian Manjiang asked tenderly.
Pan Yue looked up at Qian Manjiang, her face turning red. She fidgeted, ignoring him, and knelt down to embrace Jingjing and Mingming. The children cuddled against her shoulders, calling out "Mother" in their soft voices, melting her heart into a puddle as she trembled and said, "Mingming, Jingjing, my children."
Qian Manjiang was distressed and called out even more lovingly, "Yueyue, there’s also me, your Brother Jiang."
