Chapter 597: Chapter 302 Helping Outsiders_2

If Wu Qingshu’s vacancy is found, then let Wu Zuzhi enjoy life with his son and stop serving as an aide to Sun Tongzhi. Being an aide or an Old Master sounds decent, but it’s nothing more than pandering to others and begging for food, hardly better than being a servant.

During dinner, several people were still excitedly discussing Wu Qingshu’s wait for an official post.

Lady Wu smiled and said, "It would be best to secure an Official of Capital City so that brother and his family could live in Capital City too."

Old man Qian sneered, "Such naïveté of a woman. You think an Official of Capital City is as easy to pick up as cabbage on the street? That’s directly managed by the Emperor, under the watch of the entire Great Qian Kingdom. Do you think it’s so easily attainable?"

His words embarrassed Lady Wu to a flushed face and also made father and son Wu Zuzhi deeply uncomfortable. Qian Manjiang hastily laughed it off to smooth things over.

After dinner, Lady Wu took father and son Wu Zuzhi to Guixiang Courtyard to rest, while everyone else returned to their own quarters. However, Father Jiang kept Qian Yixiu behind. It turned out he and Grandfather Sangui wanted to discuss how to secure a position for Wu Qingshu.

Pan Yue didn’t want to go back alone and was pulled aside by Qian Manjiang, who coaxed her with a few words. Mingming secretly peeked through a gap in the door curtain and whispered to Qian Yixiu, "Sister, Daddy kissed again..."

Qian Yixiu quickly covered his little mouth and held back Jingjing, who also wanted to peek through the curtain.

Shortly after, Pan Yue, with her eyes curved in smiles, left the side room leading the two children back first.

It seemed Father Jiang’s beauty trap had worked again.

In the east side room, only three people remained, and they began discussing in low voices.

Though Qian Sangui was the eldest son-in-law, he definitely didn’t have the means to secure an official post. Qian Manjiang’s connections in the military were tenuous, and he had no influence with civil officials.

If Assistant Pan were in office, or if he were still on good terms with the Liang Family, everything would have been easy, and securing an ample position would have been effortless. But now, the Pan family would prefer to distance themselves as much as possible from the center of power and would not dare seek them out. As for the Liang Family, it would be even more embarrassing to ask.

To approach the Empress Dowager would be like using a cleaver to kill a chicken, such a trivial matter did not warrant her involvement.

Seeking Prince Ning could perhaps secure an official post, but given his precarious situation, they didn’t want to trouble him with such matters.

That left them to consider which family to approach: the Fu family, where Lady Fu originated, the house of Eldest Princess, the Song Family, and the Libationer Lin’s house of the Imperial College. These were the civil officials they had dealt with, but their relationships were all mediocre.

After much discussion, they decided to ask Lady Fu to please intercede with her father, the Left Vice Minister of Revenue Sir Fu. Although the Qian family had never interacted with Sir Fu directly, Pan Yue got along very well with Lady Fu’s aunts, and she would likely help with this favor.

Since Qian Manjiang had to serve at the palace early the next day, he asked Qian Yixiu to go to the Pan family and speak to Lady Fu.

The next morning, Qian Yixiu, accompanied by Pan Yue, Mingming, and Jingjing, went to Rongen Earl Mansion. Prince Consort Pan, upon seeing his daughter’s family arrive unexpectedly, was thrilled and insisted on preparing Pan Yue’s favorite crystal fish jelly.

Qian Yixiu quietly spoke with Prince Consort Pan, his son, and Lady Fu about securing a position for Uncle Wu, and Lady Fu readily agreed with a smile, saying she would go to her family that afternoon.

The group did not return home until they had finished lunch at Rongen Earl Mansion.

That afternoon, Zhu Sujin arrived at Xiangxue Courtyard with Monkey Sister, Shan Dian, and Qing Feng. The holidays were ending tomorrow, and he would have to return to the palace to attend classes with the Princes and the imperial grandson.

He told Qian Yixiu, "My brothers and sisters love Monkey Sister and Shan Dian. Suxin even offered five thousand taels of silver to buy Monkey Sister. I told him that House of Animals is part of our family and not for sale, no matter the price... Suyong, annoyed that Monkey Sister was so likeable, had a servant try to prick her with a nail, but Monkey Sister pulled off the servant’s ear, and he never dared to hurt her again."

Zhu Suxin, the Heir Heng, was two years younger than Zhu Sujin, aged twelve this year. Zhu Suyong is the second son of the Fifth Prince, aged ten this year.

It seemed Zhu Suxin had been won over by Zhu Sujin.

Upon hearing that the brother and nephew of Grandma Wu had arrived, he quickly went to the main house to meet them. Once realizing this was Prince Ning’s Heir, Wu Zuzhi’s father and son were so flustered they stood up to pay their respects.

Zhu Sujin hurriedly steadied Wu Zuzhi saying, "You are the brother of Qian family’s grandma, therefore you are my elder. There’s no need for formalities."

He stayed at the Qian family for dinner before leaving. Except for White Wolf and Dashan who were on the farm, all the animals from House of Animals were once again living temporarily at the Qian family. Monkey Brother and Monkey Sister were staying in Xiangxue Courtyard, and Tiaotiao with her two children in Xiyue Garden.

On the twentieth day, the long holiday ended, and Prince Consort Pan returned to teach Qian Yixiu painting. Prince Consort Pan said he would be going to the Songpan Academy, founded by the Pan family, to teach Scholars, and would no longer be able to give her classes every other day, only three times a month, on the fifth days.
