Chapter 195: Chapter 148 Late Arrival_3

"Little bastard, you’ve hurt me," the man lifted his leg to kick Qian Yijin.

Although Qian Yijin was young, he had persisted in practicing martial arts for years and was tall and robust. He dodged the man’s kick and instead grabbed the man’s leg and pushed, sending him to the ground. But Qian Yijin was struck from behind by another person and fell to the ground as well.

Qian Yixiu and Qian Manxia both ran over, crying, to protect Qian Yijin.

The three men had them completely surrounded.

Tiaotiao had been fighting with the person wielding a stick. Seeing its owner get hit, it panicked and didn’t dodge the incoming blows. Standing on its hind legs, it lunged at the man. While receiving several strikes, Tiaotiao also managed to bite the man’s shoulder, causing him to scream and drop his stick to the ground.

Tiaotiao ran to its owner’s side, lunging at another person with its teeth bared.

Qian Yijin, who had gotten back up, had picked up a stone and hurled it at one of the attackers while Qian Manxia and Qian Yixiu shouted as they fought another.

The trio stood no chance against their assailants. Qian Yijin took a few hits, Qian Yixiu was shoved to the ground, and Qian Manxia had been groped opportunistically, leaving her humiliated and enraged.

At this critical moment, suddenly a voice called out from afar, "Stop!"

Then, a figure appeared from a distance and in an instant had "flown" to their side.

Upon closer inspection, they saw it was Wan Dazhong.

He leapt up, his legs performing a split in the air, and two men cried out as they fell to the ground unable to get up. With another kick, another man went down. In the blink of an eye, Wan Dazhong had dislocated their arms, and their cries of pain filled the air.

The man bitten by Tiaotiao knelt and begged for mercy even before Wan Dazhong could strike him.

Wan Dazhong walked over and crouched down to support Qian Yijin’s shoulder. He examined him closely and anxiously asked, "Brother Jin, how are you? Are you hurt?"

Qian Yijin hastily replied with courtesy, "Thank you, Uncle Wan, for your timely arrival. We are all fine."

Wan Dazhong felt around some more to make sure Qian Yijin was indeed unhurt, then he finally relaxed and said in a low voice, "It’s all my fault for being late, I’m sorry..." Seeing Qian Yijin a bit dazed, he quickly added, "I frightened you, your aunt, and your sister."

Qian Yijin said, "My aunt and sister were indeed frightened, but I’m fine."

Having said that, he turned to kick the man who had first harassed Qian Manxia several times, saying fiercely, "That’s for bullying my aunt, I’ll kick you to death."

The enraged Tiaotiao mimicked his actions, opening its jaws wide to tear into the man, who howled in terror. Qian Yijin bent down to pat Tiaotiao and soothed, "Enough, we can’t kill them or we’ll be in trouble."

Wan Dazhong demanded of the men, "Where are you from? How did you end up here?"

It turned out that the men were scholars from Nanshan Academy in Xizhou Province who had gone to Xiding Mountain to enjoy the scenery during the agricultural break. Having heard of the remarkable rocks on Xishi Mountain, they wanted to explore. But after climbing over a mountain, they became disoriented and feared they wouldn’t find their way back if they ventured further.

After leaving Xishi Mountain, they didn’t want to leave empty-handed, so they roamed around and happened to see Qian Manxia and the others. Struck by Qian Manxia’s distinctive beauty, unlike the girls in the city, they were tempted to tease her.

Wan Dazhong, believing their story didn’t sound like a lie, cursed, "You’ve wasted your time reading the Sage Book, to dare such vile acts in broad daylight." He then kicked and slapped one of them repeatedly until their faces were swollen and they were begging incessantly.

Qian Yijin joined in the beating, and after a thorough thrashing, Wan Dazhong scolded them, "If I ever catch you doing evil again, I’ll take your lives."

The men pleaded profusely, and only then did Wan Dazhong re-set their arms.

The group got up and kowtowed, saying, "Sir, young master, we failed to recognize true quality. We won’t dare again." Then, they scrambled onto their horses and fled as fast as they could.

With the aggressors gone, the shocked Qian Manxia finally burst into tears. Qian Yixiu, too, hugged her aunt and cried.

Wan Dazhong consoled them, "The bad guys have run away, it’s all right now."

Qian Yijin also embraced his aunt and sister, comforting them until their tears stopped, and then they headed back.

On their way back, Qian Yixiu asked Wan Dazhong, "What a coincidence, Uncle Wan, how did you happen to be here?"

Wan Dazhong explained, "My father caught two wild chickens yesterday, and I thought I’d bring one to your family. I was also going to Heifeng Cliff to gather some mushrooms to stew. I never expected to encounter you guys."

He then addressed Qian Manxia, "Miss Qian, you need to be more careful in the future. It’s not safe for a young lady to walk alone in such secluded places with two children."

Tears welled up in Qian Manxia’s eyes again as she said, "I understand, I won’t do it again."
