Chapter 153: Chapter 153 The Past (2)
The rest of the witches joined their leader in disapproval.
"We are not leaving until they share this land with us," one yelled from the back of the crowd.
"Yes, we are not leaving. We have been reduced to trash in the realm. Even the human realm is far better than us."
"Yes, how can we live so low?"
The princess listened to their words, then a smile formed on her lips. "The fae will lend you magic to improve your land. Then it will be as good as the upper plain. Your fighting now is disrupting the balance of magic and nature... You are disturbing the peace of the fae realm considering it’s just a few distances away."
"You will lend us magic?" the leader screeched in surprise. Her black, rotten teeth were more visible as she widened her lips in laughter.
"Yes... but only in one condition," the princess’s tone became serious.
"Ohh, what must that be?" The witch’s eyes danced with mischief.
"You must not use the magic for any other thing except for the betterment of your land... for the time being. Once the issue is resolved, you will give me back my magic."
A look of displease flickered through the witches’ eyes, but they quickly masked it with a grateful one. "Sure, we will do as you say, princess," the leader drawled.
"Are you sure about this? You are going to give the witches fae magic and you think they will use it to better their land? Are you that naive or dumb that you don’t know the nature of witches?" My younger self snapped at the princess.
The princess turned around to face him. "Why should we judge them when we haven’t tried to trust them? I believe they only want a good land. I believe all creatures are good; it is only circumstances that should be blamed. I will give the witches the benefit of the doubt."
The witches nodded their heads, wearing a pitiful expression.
"Now I see you are not only dumb, but you have some loose screws in your head," he narrowed his eyes at the princess. "Is this the first time you are stepping out of your realm? Do you know what they can do with that magic? You are endangering the whole realm?!" my younger self yelled in fury, his wolf growling in displeasure.
"I know we all have different points of view. And I believe in kindness..."
"And I believe in facts! Kindness doesn’t save anyone. If you lend your magic to the witches and one thing if it leads to a massive war... I’ll come for you, and I’ll rip you off piece by piece." He lowered his voice, stressing the last part of his words.
One of the princess’s warriors stepped forward. "Watch your tongue, Lycan prince."
But before he could get to where my younger self was, the princess held her hand out, stopping him in his tracks.
"There will be no such thing. I’m doing this for the peace of the realm." Her blue eyes met his.
My younger self gritted his teeth in disbelief. Before he could say any more words, his father pulled him back.
"We should do as the princess says. Maybe this is a godsend help. We won’t have to sacrifice our pack." His father’s lips curved into a genuine smile.
"Then I can take your mother, my beautiful Luna, to the human realm to spend some quality time with each other." He chuckled, his eyes sparkling at the thought.
"Aren’t you old enough already?" my younger self lightly snickered.
"Says someone who wouldn’t let his mate be for one second." His elder brother joined in the bickering, teasing him.
My younger self turned to his elder brother. "Are you still going to support our father in this? I feel like this will later be a bad decision, Ethan."
Ethan knitted his brows. "You worry too much, Damon. Nothing of such will happen." He patted his back.
My younger self turned to face the princess. She gave the witches a golden orb; it was so bright that they had to cover their eyes.
"Thank you, princess," the witches’ voice was high-pitched and eerie.
Then the witches turned around and flew out of the battlefield with their broomsticks, their laughter echoing in the air.
Then the princess turned around to face my younger self, her eyes lingered on him before they moved to meet the Lycan king.
"If we may, now will be the perfect time to start healing your injured warrior," she said with a warm smile.
"Thank you, princess," the Lycan king returned her smile before leading the path to the infirmary.
My younger self looked at her with suspicion. He believed all of this was just too good to be true.
"Relax, brother." Ethan squeezed his shoulder before walking away.
He inhaled deeply. ’I hope I’m the one who’s wrong.’
"Kill that fae now and go after the witches! This is a terrible mistake!" I shouted at my younger self. But he didn’t hear a single thing I said.
"Please!" I yelled desperately. I believed if my younger self could hear me, then we could avoid the disaster that was coming.
I tried to touch him, but my hands went through his body. ’Why am I here if I can’t change what will happen??’
I dropped to my knees. I was happy to see my family again, my brother, my father... and maybe I’d get to meet Emelia one last time.
I jumped to my feet. I followed my younger self who was heading to one of the royal’s tents. I knew he was going to meet Emelia.
My younger self entered the tent and I followed closely behind him. The tent smelled of lavender and roses.
My heart hammered in my chest.
She sat at the small wooden vanity, brushing out her long, curling brown hair. Her reflection in the polished bronze mirror showed her gentle smile. Her eyes met mine... my younger self.
The candlelight cast a honey glow on her face. Tears rolled down my cheeks absentmindedly.
"Emelia," my voice cracked with emotion. I had never thought I would ever see her again.
I watched as my younger self stepped behind her, placing a hand gently on her shoulder. He leaned down and kissed her forehead with a softness that felt foreign now, like it belonged to another life.
"Let me do that," the young me said, taking the comb from her. "You shouldn’t be straining yourself. Not with the little one in there."
