"You’ll be accompanying me every Friday. Since lunchtime only lasts 30 minutes, and if I want more … you’ll have to keep me company after school too. Deal?"

The school bell rang, marking the end of the day.

Rain poured outside the window. The sharp scent of water-soaked earth drifted into the classroom, and for some reason, it reminded me of what Ms. Mizu said earlier in the nurse’s office.

"Honestly, I wouldn’t mind going straight to sex..."

So disappointing. For the second time, both coconuts were nearly within my reach. Why does everything always fall apart?

Well, since there might be another chance to grab them, I ended up accepting Ms. Mizu’s offer.

With this, the Game Club can finally be official, right?

Also, at the very least... my surgery can still go as planned. Though, judging by the current state of my banana, I’m not so sure.

There’s no pain anymore, but I also can’t feel anything in my crotch.

Maybe I should ask Mom to take me to the hospital… just in case.

"What are you mumbling about, Ren?"

Kaito, packing up his things beside me, called out.

"Nothing. It’s nothing."

"Is that so? Well then, I’ll head out first."

"You bring an umbrella?"

"You think I’d be careless again?"

Kaito pulled a folding umbrella from his bag and showed it to me.

... That’s a real shame, then. If you hadn’t brought it, your girlfriend might’ve come to pick you up again, Kaito. Weren’t you grinning so wide when you saw her at the gate with her motorcycle yesterday?

Come to think of it, Kaito’s pretty lucky, huh? Having a girlfriend like that. Even though her expression in the photos gave me weird vibes, she’s still a pretty college girl. I wonder how they even met.

After exchanging a few more words, Kaito left me alone.

Rain always made me feel sluggish, so at first, I planned to relax a bit before heading to work.

But... the sidewalks would get super muddy if the rain got heavier. Walking on that would be a pain.

So I started packing up my stuff and left.

Walking through the hallway, I took in the damp but somehow pleasant air around me.

Descending to the first floor, I pulled out my umbrella, ready to open it. However, I stopped in my step when I saw a familiar figure.

Leaning against the hallway wall, her hand held a PSP. Her fingers moved to press the buttons, but her gaze stayed fixed on the window, as if she wasn’t really playing at all.

She moved her head slightly, and the long bangs that covered part of her face fell away, revealing both eyes reflecting the rainy scenery outside.

...She really is cute, isn’t she?

For a moment, just to enjoy this beautiful scene a bit longer, I even stopped moving.

But of course... she eventually noticed me.

"Ren...?"

"You haven’t gone home yet, Yuri?"

I closed my umbrella again and approached her.

The girl slowly shook her head.

"I… forgot to bring an umbrella."

Kinda figured. What else would make her stay after school like this?

I thought for a bit and decided to help Yuri out.

"In that case, let’s go home together."

"Eh?"

Yuri didn’t hide her surprise. She glanced at the umbrella in my hand and spoke.

"B-But don’t you have your part-time job after this…?"

"My shift hasn’t started yet. Even if I’m late, there probably won’t be many customers with this weather."

Before she could say anything else, I pinched her cheek. It felt weird doing this to someone for the first time. But when it came to Yuri, I just couldn’t help it.

"Come on. I’ll walk you to the station."

"Th-That huwwts..."

Dragging her out of school, I opened the umbrella.

Carefully, I positioned it so not a single drop would touch her.

We started walking.

Fortunately I decided to leave early in the morning, as there were already large puddles forming along the road.

Turning to Yuri, I noticed that for some reason, she was walking like a robot; stiff, eyes staring straight ahead.

...Am I standing too close?

Not wanting the mood to get awkward, I decided to start a conversation.

"Yuri."

"Y-Yes, Sir!"

"...What game were you playing earlier?"

Yuri didn’t answer right away. Her eyes flicked briefly toward… my pants, then quickly looked away.

...You’re probably curious why I changed into gym pants, but for the sake of my sanity, I suggest you don’t ask, Yuri.

"I was playing, um... Amagomi SS. A vi-visual novel for girls. Ren might not know it."

Don’t underestimate me! Just because I’m not into the genre doesn’t mean I don’t know the title.

But if I recall, that was a harem visual novel for guys, right?

Ah, yes. I remember this world.

"Is the story good?"

"...Really good. I’ve played it many times, before... but I still revisit it sometimes. For inspiration."

"For your own visual novel?"

"Ye-Yeah... But not the one I showed you yesterday. I... I’m working on a new one."

Yuri then lowered her head. Her eyes hidden again beneath her bangs.

“Although… Mom’s been getting stricter lately. N-Not that I’m complaining. It’s just, um, since she’s home more often now… my sister and I hardly ever get to touch the computer anymore. Especially with midterms coming up.”

Yuri’s mom really is strict, huh?

But thinking about her room filled with games... if I were in Yuri’s mom’s shoes, I’d definitely be worried that Yuri might keep playing games and forgot to study.

That’s what my parents used to worry about too.

Though in Yuri’s case, her mom might be on another level.

...Maybe it’s time I tell Yuri about the Game Club.

My steps came to a halt, and so did Yuri’s. Her face was filled with confusion. But I didn’t explain and simply turned to face her.

"Yuri, there’s something I want to tell you right now."

"R-Ren?"

I took a deep breath.

"The Game Club can be created now."

After I said that, Yuri’s reaction was incredible. She stepped back almost instinctively, as if she couldn’t believe what I’d just said, and nearly getting caught in the falling rain. Her mouth and eyes were wide open.

"H-How did Ren get members?"

"I didn’t get a single one."

"Then how...?"

I grinned, showing off the clean teeth I brushed every day.

Glad you asked, Yuri.

"Ms. Mizu approved it because she was surprised by my bana—"

A loud car sped past behind me, followed by the splash of water hitting the street.

Cold. Wet. Dirty.

My back got soaked by the spray from a roadside puddle.
