Transmigrated as the Stepmother of a Rebellious Heir -
Chapter 318 - 178 Chestnuts
Chapter 318: Chapter 178 Chestnuts
Fu Yang returned to the Estate first and just happened to encounter Shu Wan as she was walking downstairs.
"Your dad?"
From the housekeeper, Shu Wan learned that Fu Siyu had taken Fu Yang out, and now she had something to ask Fu Siyu, so naturally, she asked Fu Yang.
"How would I know?"
Fu Yang snorted in annoyance and then headed straight upstairs.
Watching Fu Yang’s angry back, Shu Wan’s eyebrows slightly raised; Fu Yang’s temper seemed to be especially bad lately.
It seemed to start when Fu Yang found out that Fu Siyu was going to return to the country for good.
Previously, Shu Wan always felt that Fu Yang was just being tsundere towards Fu Siyu, but deep down he was very reliant on him, but now that Fu Siyu had returned, Fu Yang’s reactions were particularly intense, which made Shu Wan a bit puzzled.
At this moment, the sound of a car came from the yard; it was Fu Siyu returning.
Shu Wan continued walking downstairs, and soon enough, Fu Siyu’s figure appeared in the living room.
Seeing Shu Wan, a light that was hard for others to detect flashed in Fu Siyu’s eyes.
"Why aren’t you asleep yet?"
Fu Siyu spoke while unbuttoning his western suit, taking off his jacket, and very naturally draping it over Shu Wan’s shoulders.
It was already deep autumn, and although the Estate had turned on the underfloor heating, the house was too big; Shu Wan, clad in a nightdress, felt a faint chill after walking around.
Fu Siyu’s jacket still retained his warmth as it fell upon Shu Wan’s shoulders, softly enveloping her and warming her heart, causing her face to heat up as well.
Shu Wan felt something was a bit odd and subconsciously thought to take off Fu Siyu’s jacket, but as soon as she moved, Fu Siyu’s hand gently stopped her on her shoulder.
"When you’re at home, your elder brother must worry about you catching a cold, doesn’t he?"
The original host had siblings, and Shu Wan knew that the elder brother Fu Siyu was referring to was the original host’s brother.
Although she didn’t have much of an impression of the original host’s brother, when she was young, her own brother indeed cared about her.
It was just that as they grew older and left behind the naïve simplicity of childhood, they gradually drifted apart.
It was Shu Wan who had said she treated Fu Siyu like a big brother; right now, Fu Siyu’s caring gesture was just like an elder brother’s.
Logically, there was nothing wrong with it.
But...
Before Shu Wan could figure out the issue, Fu Siyu had already brought out a bag of sugar-roasted chestnuts.
Even without opening the bag, a sweet fragrance wafted out.
Shu Wan’s eyes brightened, "Is it sugar-roasted chestnuts?"
"I wonder if this counts as your first chestnuts of the fall?"
As someone from ancient times who had never been in contact with the internet or mobile phones, Shu Wan was extremely interested in these modern social media platforms.
She didn’t have any particular friends to chat with, and when it came down to it, there was really only Fu Siyu.
So whatever interesting things Shu Wan came across, she would share with Fu Siyu.
Like those videos that say, "tag your best friend, and get them to buy you the first sugar-roasted chestnuts of autumn," Shu Wan naturally also shared with Fu Siyu.
However, when she shared it, of course, Shu Wan never expected Fu Siyu would actually buy them for her.
When a casual share turned into the concretely sweet and sticky chestnuts before her eyes, that happiness spread from the video to reality.
Shu Wan’s eyes curved gently, "I was just sharing randomly, but I still really appreciate it."
"And thank you for always bringing me, this old-fashioned guy, into the world of the young."
Though Fu Siyu was young, he never seemed to have enough time for work, let alone watching videos on social media, which he never touched.
It was only when Shu Wan sent him videos that he learned about many of the popular memes online.
"In that case, allow me to offer a borrowed gift, by inviting you to share the first batch of sugar-fried chestnuts of the autumn with me?"
"Thank you."
Fu Siyu and Shu Wan exchanged smiles.
At this moment, all the servants had left, and only Shu Wan and Fu Siyu remained in the living room.
The fireplace to the east already had a fire burning inside, and the two sat before it, chatting idly and eating chestnuts.
The flames in the fireplace crackled and popped, mixed with the noise of peeling chestnut shells, a sort of bustling clamor in the quiet night sky, dispersing the loneliness that was the due of an autumn night.
Shu Wan, while filming on set, would practice her photography during breaks.
This hobby, the kind you grow fonder of the deeper you venture into it, made her want to take a photo whenever inspiration struck.
Right now, Shu Wan just so happened to be inspired.
She fetched her camera and before snapping any pictures, sought Fu Siyu’s opinion, "I’d like to take a few sets of photos of you, is that okay?"
"Of course."
Fu Siyu put down the chestnut, "How should I cooperate?"
"Don’t try too hard, just act natural."
"Okay."
Fu Siyu picked up the chestnut again, slowly peeling the shell, while letting Shu Wan take her photos.
Time passed, the moon hung high in the sky, and the night seemed to grow even deeper, until Shu Wan yawned, "That’s probably enough, shall we go to sleep?"
"I would like to see the photos you took, may I?"
"Sure."
Shu Wan, holding her camera, sat next to Fu Siyu and scrolled through the pictures she’d taken.
Shu Wan was already intelligent, and skilled at calligraphy and painting. Although she hadn’t been formally trained in the compositional principles of modern photography, she had an innate knack for it.
Thus, the photos Shu Wan took possessed both a pleasant atmosphere and a sense of aesthetic appeal, to the extent that even Fu Siyu was quite surprised, "Your photography skills have improved a lot."
"I have you to thank for your constant guidance."
"It’s nothing more than a few suggestions."
At that moment, Shu Wan came across a certain photo, and Fu Siyu glanced at it, "Could you send me this one?"
"You can have them all, I’m going to take a shower and will send them afterward."
"Okay."
They each returned to their rooms and shortly after, Fu Siyu received the photos sent by Shu Wan.
Among them was one photo, with a background of lively flames in the fireplace and him gazing downward as if resting. Fu Siyu set it as his new WeChat profile picture and as his short video platform avatar.
On current social apps, changing your profile picture automatically posts an update.
By the time Fu Siyu thought to delete the post, it was too late. His following was simply too large; any slight activity would attract countless attention.
Upon seeing Fu Siyu’s new profile picture, fans howled in admiration, praising his handsomeness, while another group sensed that something was amiss.
Because, not long before, the "Bailu people" account had just uploaded a series of still life photographs. Though Fu Siyu was not in them, a man’s silhouette appeared occasionally in the background, and that very same group by the fireplace was unmistakably identical to the one in Fu Siyu’s profile picture.
This solidified the speculation that the owner of the "Bailu people" account was indeed married to Fu Siyu.
