Chapter 107: Chapter 70 Fantasy_5

"I want to see who dares to say Shu Wan has a plastic surgery face now! Did you see how fast she rode that horse? And her features are still so beautiful. Meanwhile, the ’god-like beauty’ Lin Man that you all rave about, how can she look so ugly?"

"Lin Man is such a disappointment. Even though not being able to horse ride isn’t inherently an acting flaw, if you’re going to film period dramas, shouldn’t you polish your skills?"

The comments that followed were too much for Lin Man; she couldn’t even bear to read them, knowing they were most likely abusing her.

"Where is Shu Wan?!" Lin Man was furious. "It must be her doing. She just said that the horse was docile, and look, it still threw me off."

"I don’t know, but don’t go looking for her. She loves playing dirty; what if she stabs you in the back again?" The agent didn’t even finish speaking before Lin Man had already dashed off to find Shu Wan.

At that moment, Shu Wan was leaning against a tree doing some tasks. Hearing footsteps, Shu Wan looked up just as a phone was hurled straight at her.

Calmly catching the phone, Shu Wan tossed it back, hitting Lin Man right on the leg.

Lin Man’s knee buckled, and she tripped and fell to the ground, hitting her knee. Although it wasn’t a severe injury, Lin Man, with her delicate skin, found even the slight knock excruciating, tears immediately welling up. "Shu Wan, you’re too vicious."

"Had I not caught that phone," Shu Wan calmly put away her workbook, "I would be more hurt than you are now. Why didn’t you think of that before?"

"You!" Lin Man glared at Shu Wan, furious. "It’s all because you play dirty behind the scenes, uploading my unflattering photos online, trying to overshadow me."

Shu Wan didn’t know what Lin Man was referring to, but she clearly didn’t want to take the blame. "It wasn’t me. I’m not that idle."

"It’s definitely you! From the moment you joined the crew, you’ve been opposing me, dressing better and riding better than me. You must be delighted seeing those online comments mocking my riding skills!"

As she spoke, Lin Man remembered the online taunts calling her ugly and likening her to unpresentable creatures, which was too much for her to handle.

She had always been praised as a great beauty since her debut. Although she had faced criticism for poor acting, she had never been called ugly.

It was all Shu Wan’s fault. If not for Shu Wan’s bad influence, how could she have ended up being ridiculed like this?

Unsure if her tears were more from anger or pain, Lin Man sat on the ground, her tears unceasing.

After packing her belongings, Shu Wan stood up and approached Lin Man. "Isn’t it just about not knowing how to ride? I can teach you."

Lin Man looked up in surprise, quickly rejecting the offer once she registered it. "I think you just want to take more hideous photos of me. Do you think I would trust you?"

"You should know that Director Zhang loves shooting outdoors, and as the female lead, you have a total of twelve horse riding scenes. If you don’t learn, you’ll just embarrass yourself twelve times."

"You’re making things up. I haven’t even memorized my script, how would you know I have twelve riding scenes?"

"Because I have a good memory, I never forget," Shu Wan said with a slight smile, "believe it or not."

Saying that, Shu Wan turned to walk away.

Seeing Shu Wan about to step out of the courtyard, a strong unease spread in Lin Man, and she instinctively called out to her. "Why should I trust you? Are you really that kind-hearted? By overshadowing me, you stand to gain, don’t you?"

Shu Wan turned around. "Although you bluster and fumble, there’s still hope for your acting. I still hope that the first film I am in can be as perfect as possible."

Shu Wan always put her best effort into her work.

If the crew wasn’t worth saving, she wouldn’t bother investing her energy and would just focus on her part.

But from what she’d observed over the past few days, the Director was responsible, the script was passable, and both Qin Yu and Lin Man’s acting was acceptable.

Shu Wan still wanted to do her best to enhance the film, not just for herself but also for her co-stars.

Hearing Shu Wan’s words, Lin Man instinctively wanted to retort but seeing Shu Wan’s clear and sincere eyes, she found herself at a loss for words.

Eventually, Lin Man wiped her tears and stood up. "Then teach me properly. If anything goes wrong, I won’t let you off."

Shu Wan withdrew her gaze and walked out of the yard.

Inside the filming site, Lin Man’s agent, worriedly preparing to find the Director to mediate, feared that Lin Man and Shu Wan would start fighting in the crew.

That would only escalate the drama.

At that moment, Director Zhang had just finished shooting with group B. Seizing the opportunity, the agent approached him. "Director, you should find Shu Wan and our Lin Man. These two might..."

The agent didn’t finish her sentence when she saw not far away, Lin Man tearfully mounting a horse, wiping her tears while pulling on the reins.

Shu Wan stood beside her, said something, and Lin Man instantly pulled the reins even tighter, the horse showing signs of going berserk again.

Shu Wan swiftly mounted the horse, sat behind Lin Man, one hand on Lin Man’s shoulder to help her adjust her posture, and the other hand taking over the reins. With a light squeeze of the horse’s belly with her legs, the steed rapidly took off.

"Holy moly," the agent wiped her eyes, the world seeming fantastical.

Was there a glitch in her memory? Wasn’t Lin Man just furiously going to confront Shu Wan?

What was this situation now?!
