Chapter 105: Calm down, wolfies...
"Do you want to take this inside?" Damian asked in a soft voice, as if speaking too loudly would break the close moment they shared. He looked into her eyes, anxious for her reply, his heart racing with both excitement and doubt.
Evelina didn’t hesitate.
She nodded, her lips curling into a soft, almost shy smile that sent a jolt of warmth through him. "Yes," she whispered.
Damian’s heart swelled at her response, and he wasted no time.
He lifted her gently but firmly, cradling her against his chest as he carried her away from the lake. Evelina wrapped her arms around his neck, fitting perfectly against him as he walked through the quiet, dimly lit hallways of the palace.
As Damian carried Evelina through the quiet palace hallways, he held her in a protective and possessive manner.
It wasn’t just the physical closeness that drew them together—it was the trust that had been built, brick by brick, in the aftermath of everything that happened.
The walls they had both put up were crumbling, leaving them vulnerable, but neither of them seemed to mind.
In fact, it felt right.
Necessary, even.
Damian’s heart raced as he felt her warmth against him, igniting something deep inside him that he had been holding back for far too long.
And he wasn’t the only one feeling it.
Storm growled impatiently in his mind. "She’s ours, Damian. We need her. Now."
Damian clenched his jaw, trying to keep his composure. "Calm down, Storm."
"Calm?" Storm scoffed. "She smells too good, feels too perfect in our arms. And you want me to be calm?"
Damian took a steadying breath as Evelina’s fingers absentmindedly played with the hair at the nape of his neck. The small touch sent a shiver down his spine. "We’ll have her, but not like some crazed animal. She deserves more than that."
Storm huffed but didn’t argue.
Instead, he let out a low, pleased rumble. "Fine. But hurry up before I lose my patience."
Meanwhile, Relia was losing her mind.
"Hahahahahaha! Oh, this is happening. This is finally happening!"
Evelina groaned internally. "Relia—"
"No, no, no! You don’t get to shut me out now, miss I’m-taking-things-slow! You are being carried through the palace by our drop-dead gorgeous mate, who is currently looking at you like he wants to devour you. I will be present for this."
Evelina’s face heated, and she buried it deeper against Damian’s neck, hoping he wouldn’t notice her sudden stiffness.
Relia was cackling. "Ohhh, Evie, he smells so good, doesn’t he? The mix of cedar, smoke, and raw power? I could roll in it."
Evelina mentally shoved her wolf so far into the back of her mind she hoped Relia would choke on her own amusement.
Damian, oblivious to her mental battle, tightened his grip on her. His silver eyes were dark with desire as they finally reached his chambers. He pushed the door open with his shoulder, carefully carrying Evelina inside.
Moonlight streamed through the windows, casting long shadows on the floor.
With its neatly arranged sheets, the bed awaited them like a sanctuary, a place where they could finally let go of everything that had held them back.
Damian set Evelina down gently on the edge of the bed. His thumbs traced slow circles over the fabric of her dress, the heat from his touch sending shivers up her spine.
Storm growled in satisfaction. "Good. Keep her close. She’s ours. Make sure she knows it."
Damian ignored him. "She already knows."
With that, he leaned in to kiss her again.
This kiss was different—slower, more deliberate, as if they were savouring every moment, every touch. Evelina responded eagerly, her hands sliding up his chest to rest on his shoulders, her body arching into his as the kiss deepened.
Damian’s hands roamed over Evelina’s waist, sending shivers through her body; the warmth pooling at the pit of her stomach.
The kiss grew more intense, more passionate, as he deepened it, his tongue gently parting her lips to explore the sweet taste of her. Evelina responded eagerly, her tongue meeting his in a slow, sensual manner that left them both breathless.
As they kissed, Damian’s hand moved up her back, pulling her closer to him until there was no space left between their bodies.
The soft fabric of her dress bunched under his fingers as he traced the lines of her body, committing every curve and dip to memory.
Evelina’s hands glided from his shoulders to his neck, her fingers threading through his hair as she drew him closer. The heat between them built to an almost unbearable level until they both slowly pulled away to catch their breath.
"Evelina," Damian murmured.
She swallowed hard. "Yes?"
He gently ran his fingers up her arms, moving slowly in a reverent manner. "Please tell me to stop."
She exhaled shakily, her body instinctively leaning into his. "I don’t want you to."
A low growl rumbled from Damian’s chest. He cupped her cheek, tilting her face up before pressing his lips to hers
Damian’s lips trailed from her mouth to her jaw, nipping lightly at the sensitive skin there before moving down to the hollow of her throat.
Evelina tilted her head back, granting him better access, her breath hitching in anticipation as he kissed his way down her neck, leaving a trail of fire in his wake.
Storm whined in Damian’s head. "Claim her. Mark her."
Damian’s grip on Evelina’s waist tightened, his self-control hanging by a thread.
But then—
Relia squealed. "YES! Yes! Take her, make us yours! Bite, mark us, do everything a mate is supposed to—"
Evelina jerked away from Damian so fast she nearly fell off the bed.
Damian blinked in surprise, breathing hard. "Eve?"
Evelina slapped a hand over her mouth, mentally screaming at Relia. "Are you out of your MIND?!"
"Oh, come on,"
Relia whined. "You know you were about to let him. I was just providing encouragement!"Damian’s eyes narrowed. "You’re arguing with Relia, aren’t you?"
Evelina groaned, dropping her face into her hands. "You have no idea what I go through."
Damian chuckled, reaching out to gently pull her hands away from her face. "Oh, I have some idea," he teased.
Evelina shot him a glare, but the heat in her cheeks refused to fade. "This is all your fault, you know."
Damian smirked, brushing his lips lightly over her knuckles. "Oh? And what exactly did I do?"
Evelina huffed. "You exist."
Storm let out a low, pleased chuckle. "Oh, I like her."
Relia practically purred. "Ugh, you two are so disgustingly perfect. Can we please get back to the kissing? Or, you know, more?"
Evelina glared at no one. "I hate you."
Damian, entirely amused, leaned in closer, his voice teasing yet dark with promise. "Well, if it’s really my fault... I suppose I should take responsibility."
Evelina’s breath caught as he gently tilted her chin up, his lips ghosting over hers once more.
And just like that, she stopped fighting it.
Stopped fighting him.
Letting herself fall into the moment, she let him kiss her again. This time, when his hands tightened at her waist, she didn’t pull away.
Neither of them did.
"Damian..." Evelina finally found her voice after heaven knows how long they had kissed.
Her voice was a soft whisper, filled with need and something deeper, something more profound. "Damian..." she repeated. "Mark me."
