Chapter 24: Ye Bai’s Plan

In the capital’s top hospital, Ye Bai lay in bed, watching the online buzz with a faint smile. The video was his doing, a simple ploy to trample Lin Tai’s reputation while boosting his own.

The results were clear—mission accomplished.

Lin Tai’s already poor image, paired with Ye Bai’s flashy moves, sparked a wave of positive reactions.

“Boss, it’s all set,” Steven entered, reporting. “So far, all but one or two families have agreed to help pressure the Lu family.”

“Boss, your foresight is uncanny,” Steven added a casual flattery.

“It’s not my foresight—it’s how Chinese people have always been,” Ye Bai dismissed the praise.

When the other clans moved against the Lu family, internal investigations would follow to pinpoint the cause.

The Lu family wasn’t without internal strife. Though Lu Ziyan’s father, the eldest son and patriarch, held power, some decisions required consensus.

Beyond Lu Ziyan’s immediate family, Ye Bai had bribed the second and third branches, plus some shareholders—leaving Lu Ziyan with no choice!

“In three days max, I’ll secure the male lead role,” Ye Bai mused, imagining Lu Ziyan’s forced acceptance of him as her film’s star.

“Boss, why insist on this role?” Steven knew Ye Bai’s temperament. Though angered by Lu Ziyan, he was the king of endurance—minor slights wouldn’t faze him.

There had to be a special reason for targeting her movie. Steven couldn’t decipher Ye Bai’s intent.

“It holds special meaning for me,” Ye Bai said, and it did—though not the film itself, but its female lead.

He was dead-set on the role because Su Qingyan starred as the heroine. Su Qingyan meant something unique to him. She’d once been his fiancée. Now a top-tier celebrity, her entry into entertainment was pure interest, backed by immense power—the Su family, one of the four major clans, with Su Qingyan as their heiress, a fact few knew.

Ye Bai was among the rare insiders.

As a child, the Ye family patriarch’s son, he’d been betrothed to Su Qingyan. At five or six, seeing her for the first time, he vowed she’d be his only wife. Fate intervened—his parents were murdered, and he was exiled abroad.

Upon planning his return, his first investigation was into Su Qingyan. He learned she’d entered showbiz and, at just 23, claimed the Best Actress title.

He also discovered Ye Mofei, his cousin and the current Ye family heir, was aggressively pursuing her. This ignited Ye Bai’s fury, driving him to approach Su Qingyan.

Winning her would secure the Su family’s support—and Xiao Yuxuan’s, willingly or not—aligning both clans with him.

The best route to Su Qingyan was through Lu Ziyan. An artistic soul, Lu Ziyan had bonded with Su Qingyan, her best friend, who eagerly took the female lead in Lu Ziyan’s directorial debut. This was Ye Bai’s fastest path to Su Qingyan.

“Anything else?”

“Boss, we’ve traced a lead on Abraham’s sister,” Steven said gravely. Abraham was one of the Hell’s Ten Demons in Ye Bai’s assassin organization—a veteran brother.

Abraham, or Zhou Kangcheng, left the army at 22 for money, heading to the Middle East. His skills rivaled anyone in the Reaper Squad, holding high status within the organization.

Two years ago, he died executing a mission for Ye Bai, ambushed and blown to pieces. As a close ally, Ye Bai grieved and sought to compensate him.

All he knew was Abraham cherished a sister, Cai Xiaoyan.

Back in China, to repay this debt and stabilize the organization’s unrest, Ye Bai aimed to find her and offer support. Months of searching paid off with a lead.

“Confirmed as Abraham’s sister?” Ye Bai’s excitement rose—not for old ties, long faded with time, but for strategic gain. Compensating Cai Xiaoyan wasn’t just sentimental.

Hecate, as the organization’s head, commanded loyal killers. Ye Bai hadn’t worried before, but with her potential betrayal, those loyal to her posed a threat. Abraham, a top figure, held significant influence.

Finding Cai Xiaoyan and aiding her could first appease Abraham’s old comrades and secondly signal to Hecate’s followers that he valued loyalty.

Though minor now, no killer wanted their family neglected after death. Over time, Hecate’s loyalists might switch sides, minimizing organizational losses.

“Confirmed,” Steven nodded. As an old friend of Abraham, he wanted the best for her.

“Good. Once I’m healed, I’ll meet her.”

“Yes.” Steven stood behind Ye Bai, sensing his excitement seemed less than expected.

“Anything else?”

“One last thing—Princess Elizabeth has run away. The Queen hopes you’ll find her quickly,” Steven continued. Their overseas conglomerate was backed by various tycoons, with Queen Elizabeth holding key influence.

Her daughter, Princess Elizabeth, was her treasure. Her sudden disappearance shocked everyone.

“The last report places her on a flight to the capital.”
