Chapter 41: Ch 41: A Meeting Across Eras
The stones trembled violently, their vibrations resonating through the ground like a drumbeat of impending change.
The green stone, which had rested in its spot for what seemed like eternity, began to shed its old, dull exterior.
Flakes of ancient material fell away, revealing a deep, mesmerizing emerald hue that pulsed with life.
The carvings etched into the earth came alive, glowing with intertwining lights of cerulean and green.
The air grew thick with energy, so potent that even breathing felt like a struggle.
Ye Tian’s senses dulled. The hum of the forest faded away. Even the faint rustling of dead leaves ceased.
It was as if the world had gone silent.
’What the...? Did I just go deaf?’ he thought, glancing around.
But it wasn’t just his hearing. The world around him seemed to drain of color, leaving only shades of gray.
Everything stopped... the wind, the swaying trees, even the faint ripples on the poisonous lake.
’A spatial distortion...’ Ye Tian concluded, his sharp instincts kicking in.
This phenomenon wasn’t entirely foreign to him.
It was something only those who reached the Void Amalgamation Realm could achieve... bending the laws of reality to create their own pocket dimension.
But this... this felt different.
’It’s incomplete. Feels more like a knockoff done with magic rather than pure spatial power. A run-down version. Cute.’
Still, he couldn’t deny the craftsmanship. Whoever created this had substantial skill.
’Alright, if I’m right, the background’s going to shift in three... two... one.’
As if on cue, the environment changed.
The forest faded away, replaced by a vast expanse of shallow water.
The surface rippled gently beneath his feet, acting as a mirror to the cosmos above.
He looked down and saw a planet beneath the transparent water... a world unfamiliar to him but clearly teeming with life.
Above him was the endless void of space, filled with stars, nebulae, and galaxies that glimmered faintly.
’Not bad. Very theatrical. Someone’s got a flair for the dramatic.’
Then he heard it.
"So... you’ve come, my descendant."
The voice was deep, resonant, and ancient, carrying the weight of eons.
"Two thousand years of waiting. What took you so long?"
’And now, someone’s going to materialize in front of me...’ Ye Tian thought, already predicting the next move.
A brilliant white aura began to gather, its light coalescing into the shape of a human figure.
Within moments, the light gave way to flesh and form... a young man stood before him.
No facial hair, long blonde hair cascading over his shoulders, and piercing cerulean eyes that radiated wisdom and power.
He wore ornate mage robes, shimmering with protective enchantments.
In his hand, a staff exuded a pressure that even seasoned warriors would find suffocating.
It was Michael Eviar, the progenitor of magic, a legend whose feats were etched into the annals of history.
’Huh, not bad...’ Ye Tian mused.
’The guy’s got style.’
Michael Eviar’s eyes narrowed as he scrutinized the boy before him.
"...Hmm? What’s this? You’re not Eviar. Your soul is... different."
’Bingo.’
Michael’s expression darkened. The air around him grew heavier as his aura flared. His once calm demeanor was replaced by cold fury.
"Who are you? Why have you taken over the body of my descendant?" he demanded, his voice laced with anger and suspicion.
Ye Tian yawned, scratching his ear nonchalantly.
"Oi, kiddo. Cut the theatrics. You’re gonna hurt yourself trying to act cool."
Michael’s brows furrowed.
’Wait. Why isn’t he affected by my pressure? This mortal body... could he have reached a realm beyond mine?’
But that couldn’t be possible.
Michael’s aura intensified as he took a more direct approach.
"Who... who exactly are you?" he asked, his tone now tinged with genuine curiosity.
Ye Tian smirked. "Do you want the politically correct answer, or the honest one?"
His cerulean eyes shifted, morphing into their original form.
His pupils elongated like those of a reptile, and his irises glowed a sinister crimson.
Michael’s face twisted in shock.
"Those eyes... are you of the demonic race?"
Rage overtook him. To think his descendant had been taken over by a demon... an unforgivable act.
Without hesitation, he activated every magical artifact on his body.
The staff in his hand surged with power, and dozens of colossal mana circles materialized around him, their complex runes glowing ominously.
"You demon filth... I don’t know how you survived my attacks back then, but this ends now. Die!"
The mana circles erupted, unleashing a barrage of spells that could level cities.
Fire, lightning, ice, and pure arcane energy converged toward Ye Tian with devastating speed.
But Ye Tian stood there, unfazed, watching the approaching attacks with a bored expression.
As the spells closed in, he muttered softly...
"Pipe down, kid."
In an instant, his aura exploded outward.
It wasn’t just mana or qi... it was something far greater, an energy that defied comprehension.
The wave of power rippled through the distorted space, shattering Michael’s spells into nothingness.
The very fabric of the dimension cracked and groaned under the pressure, and even time itself seemed to freeze for a moment.
Michael stumbled back, clutching his chest as blood spurted from his mouth.
Ye Tian’s form shifted. Gone was the frail body of Diablo Eviar.
He stood tall now, clad in black robes that seemed to absorb the surrounding light.
His crimson eyes gleamed with an otherworldly brilliance, and a dark, oppressive aura surrounded him.
Behind him, a throne materialized, forged from the very essence of the void. It pressed against the fractured space, threatening to tear it apart entirely.
He sat down lazily, one leg crossed over the other, his chin resting on his hand.
"Do you really think some magician, whose job is to pull rabbits out of hats, could harm me?"
His tone was calm, but every word dripped with disdain.
Michael stared in disbelief.
"That energy... that presence... you’re no ordinary demon. What... what are you?"
Ye Tian chuckled, his grin widening.
"Let me give you some advice, kid. Half-assed energy like mana? It’s not even enough to scratch me."
