Tower: Rebirth of the Absolute Demon
Chapter 38: Ch 38: A Step into Chaos

Chapter 38: Ch 38: A Step into Chaos

Ye Tian stood just outside the threshold of the fifth floor.

His senses screamed at him to stop. He wasn’t foolish... he understood what awaited him beyond this boundary.

In front of him loomed a figure far beyond anything he had encountered so far.

An Arch-Lich.

This wasn’t the kind of opponent you could find in textbooks or battle manuals.

It wasn’t a creature defined by common sense.

In his past life, on Earth, he had only ever seen such entities in games and fantasy stories.

But here, it was real.

The Arch-Lich stood tall... or rather, hunched ominously.

Its skeletal frame, draped in tattered mage robes, seemed almost unremarkable.

It wielded a staff carved from bone, adorned with glowing runes, while tattered garments fluttered around it like shadows caught in the wind.

Yet it wasn’t the appearance that set it apart.

It was the aura.

This wasn’t mana as he had sensed before... it was darker, colder, and suffocating.

"Mana of death... Yeah, I guess that’s the best name for it..." Ye Tian murmured, his lips curving into a small smile despite the situation.

The Arch-Lich let out a rattling laugh, its hollow eye sockets glowing with emerald malice.

"Why hesitate, mortal? Was all that bravado just empty words?" it mocked, its voice echoing unnaturally.

"Or are you nothing more than a coward, trembling before my presence?"

The distance between them wasn’t much, yet it felt insurmountable.

Ye Tian’s weapon... his recently acquired ’spiky ball on a chain’ lay on the ground near the Arch-Lich’s bony feet.

Retrieving it seemed impossible without exposing himself.

He weighed his options carefully.

He could charge in, knowing full well it would likely lead to his demise.

Or he could turn back, sacrificing his pride for survival.

But then again, who was he kidding?

He wasn’t some righteous hero clinging to pride.

Survival came first.

Still... the Yin Qi radiating from the Arch-Lich was too tempting to ignore.

It wasn’t just an anomaly... it was a goldmine.

Ye Tian’s smirk widened.

"Aight, you bag of bones. Time for you to visit the gates of reincarnation..." he declared, his voice carrying an edge of excitement.

He stepped onto the fifth floor.

As his foot touched the floor, a system window instantly materialized before his eyes.

---

[You have entered the unknown domain of $¥€∆.]

[You will be forcefully entering the White Rank Dungeon.]

---

"White rank?" Ye Tian muttered, his eyebrows furrowing.

"What the hell even is that?"

But before he could fully process the information, his attention snapped back to the Arch-Lich.

It wasn’t wasting time.

The Arch-Lich raised its staff high, its bony fingers weaving intricate patterns in the air.

Dozens of glowing mana circles materialized around it, pulsating with deadly energy.

Each circle carried a different form of destruction... fire, ice, lightning, and spells that Ye Tian couldn’t even identify.

The Arch-Lich’s hollow voice reverberated through the air, laced with disdain.

"Die, arrogant mortal!"

The mana circles activated simultaneously, unleashing a barrage of elemental destruction.

The entire hallway seemed to explode as torrents of fire, shards of ice, and arcs of lightning rushed toward Ye Tian.

But just as the first wave of attacks reached him...

He vanished.

The Arch-Lich froze, its jaw dropping in disbelief. The spells dissipated midair, fading into nothingness.

Its skeletal fingers trembled as it lowered its staff.

"What... the... fuck?" it muttered, its voice breaking for the first time.

It stood there, staring blankly at the spot where Ye Tian had been, unable to comprehend what had just happened.

Ye Tian, on the other hand, was in no position to enjoy his apparent victory.

Once again, he had been transported somewhere unknown.

His vision went black.

He couldn’t hear anything except for a faint, echoing hum that resonated in his ears like an otherworldly chant.

His body felt numb, weaker than it had in years.

There was warmth on his face... something wet sliding down his cheeks.

When his vision returned, the first thing he saw was fire.

Flames raged wildly, consuming everything in their path.

A massive mansion... or perhaps a castle... stood before him, engulfed in flames that reached toward the sky.

The air was thick with smoke, the acrid scent of burning flesh filling his lungs.

Ye Tian lowered his gaze and froze.

The ground was littered with corpses... countless bodies lying in grotesque heaps, blood pooling beneath them.

The once pristine landscape was now a massacre scene of death and destruction.

His breathing hitched as his eyes scanned the carnage.

And then he noticed something else.

His hands... small, delicate, trembling.

He held them up, his heart pounding in his chest.

Not just his hands.

His entire body had shrunk.

He wasn’t himself anymore.

He was a... child!?

"What... the hell is this?" Ye Tian muttered, his voice higher-pitched, almost unrecognizable.

His mind raced as he tried to make sense of the situation.

Was this an illusion?

A memory?

Or something else entirely?

The burning castle. The endless corpses.

It all seemed hauntingly familiar, yet alien at the same time.

His legs moved instinctively, carrying him forward through the carnage.

The heat of the flames licked at his skin, but he felt no pain.

The smell of blood was overwhelming, but he pressed on, driven by a strange, inexplicable pull.

As he approached the castle’s gates, a chilling sensation washed over him.

He glanced down at his reflection in a puddle of blood.

The face staring back at him wasn’t his own... it was the face of a terrified boy, his wide eyes filled with fear and confusion.

Ye Tian clenched his fists, his nails digging into his palms.

"No..." he said firmly, his voice steadying.

"I don’t care what kind of sick game this is."

He straightened his back, the fear in his eyes replaced by a fierce determination.

"Whatever this is, I’ll tear through it. Just like I always do."

The morning sun began to rise over the horizon, casting golden rays through the dense forest.

In the midst of towering trees and chirping birds, a small figure trudged along a dirt path, his every step punctuated by frustration.

Ye Tian... now inhabited the body of a nine-year-old boy.

His once imposing figure was now replaced by short limbs, blonde hair that fell to his shoulders, cerulean eyes that sparkled with innocence, and a charming, youthful face that betrayed the sharpness in his gaze.

Dressed in tattered clothes that barely clung to his small frame and clutching a necklace of cerulean blue shaped like a swirling drop of water, Ye Tian looked every bit like a wandering orphan.

But his expression told a different story.

"Tsk... this damned body!" Ye Tian grumbled, his tone laced with irritation.

He gritted his teeth as he took another labored step, his legs trembling slightly from the effort.

"It can’t even walk properly! How in the hell can a human have this bad of a stamina!? What is this, a joke?"

His small fist clenched as he hissed to himself...

"And that fucking system! How the hell am I supposed to endure this nonsense for twenty-nine years!?"

His curses echoed through the empty forest, startling a few birds that took flight in alarm.

A Few Hours Ago

When Ye Tian first regained consciousness in this strange body, a series of system notifications had appeared before him.

---

[Tower welcomes Player Ye Tian to be one of the first to enter a White Rank Dungeon.]

[White-Rank Dungeon:-]

[A dungeon with the traits of all three dungeon types (Single Monster, Full Fledged, Theme Based) combined.]

[The hardest difficulty tier available for the trials.]

[Challenges players’ common sense, mental strength, and willpower simultaneously.]

[The spawn rate is 0.0000000000001%.]

[As difficult as it is, the rewards are breathtaking.]

---

Ye Tian had smirked at first.

"Hardest difficulty, huh? Well, this might be fun..." he’d thought.

But the system continued...

---

[Any items, skills, or effects obtained outside this dungeon will not function within it.]

[The system interface will only assist when a price is paid.]

[Skills and items obtained within the dungeon will remain confined to it unless tied to specific quest rewards.]

[A total of 59 players, besides Player Ye Tian, have entered this dungeon.]

---

"Fifty-nine others? Hah. Let’s see who’ll make it out alive..." he muttered.

But the next notification had wiped the smirk off his face.

---

[Main Quest: Kill the Apostle of Death and save the world from destruction.]

[Time Limit: 29 years.]

---

"...Excuse me?"

His brows furrowed as he read the next line...

---

[Failure to complete the quest within the allotted time will result in death.]

---

"Twenty-nine years in this dungeon?!"

The absurdity of the situation hit him like a slap. He clenched his fists, muttering angrily...

"This isn’t a quest. It’s a fucking life sentence."

---

[Would you like to retrieve the memories of Diablo Eviar?]

---

"Retrieve them already! Let’s see what fresh hell this is!"
