Chapter 36: Ch 36: The Dungeon Apocalypse

While Ye Tian was locked in battle with the Orc Warrior, the world outside had changed far more drastically than anyone could have anticipated.

Every building, street, and even the tiniest corner of civilization had transformed into a dungeon.

Dungeons... mystical anomalies formed when mana concentrated in a single area... were natural but highly dangerous phenomena.

The mana would coalesce to create a portal, a gateway to horrors that spilled monsters into the mortal realm.

These dungeons formed primarily in areas with large populations or abundant raw mana, acting as magnets for both.

Once formed, the dungeon would emit a field of energy that trapped everyone inside.

Leaving was not an option.

You could enter a dungeon willingly, but escape became impossible unless you either cleared the dungeon or faced its collapse.

And a collapsed dungeon?

That was the worst-case scenario.

It unleashed all its monsters into the world, killing indiscriminately.

Dungeons were categorized by their glow, each color signifying their level of danger...

- Blue: E-rank

- Green: D-rank

- Yellow: C-rank

- Orange: B-rank

- Red: A-rank

- Black:

Boss-rank

Dungeons didn’t just vary in rank but also in type...

- Single Monster Dungeons: Home to a single, exceptionally powerful monster, often in its prime, ready to annihilate challengers.

- Full-Fledged Dungeons: Teeming with varied monsters of different strengths, making them chaotic and unpredictable.

- Theme-Based Dungeons: The rarest and deadliest, with a 0.01% chance of spawning. These dungeons followed unique rules, making them nearly impossible to clear. Even S-rank hunters, the strongest the world had to offer, barely survived them.

Up until now, Boss-rank dungeons were considered the pinnacle of danger.

Only twice in history had such dungeons appeared, and both times, it required every available S-rank to unite, suffering grievous injuries to secure victory.

But now?

Everything had turned into a dungeon.

Not just one building or a few streets... everything.

For the first time, even the S-ranks had no guarantees of survival.

Inside the hospital, towering at 25 floors, dungeons had formed on five separate levels.

Ye Tian, oblivious to this chaos, strolled around the ground floor leisurely.

He whistled a carefree tune, his Orc Warrior’s weapon slung over one shoulder and the last box of food supplies in his other hand.

The silence was unnerving.

Not a single soul stirred.

But Ye Tian?

He was unbothered.

To him, it was as if he was out for a casual evening walk.

He went room to room, scouring for anything useful. His search bore some fruit... a black hoodie, a pair of trousers, and some sports shoes.

Simple attire, but it reminded him of his peaceful days on Earth, long before his life became a whirlwind of blood and chaos.

After thoroughly searching the ground floor, he faced a decision...

should he venture outside or go upstairs?

He considered his options, weighing the risks.

Eventually, he turned toward the staircase, taking a step when...

His instincts screamed at him.

In an instant, he ducked down.

Thwang!

An arrow zipped past where his head had been just moments ago, embedding itself into the wall.

He glanced at the arrow, then at its source.

Above the stairs, a group of small, grotesque creatures peeked out, their eyes gleaming with malice.

They drooled like starving wolves as they readied another volley of arrows.

A system window appeared...

[Monster Name - Kobold]

[Monster Class - E]

Ye Tian’s forehead twitched, a vein bulging as he broke into a fake smile.

"These bastards dare think of me as food?" he muttered darkly.

He put the box of food down and gripped the massive weapon he had taken from the Orc Warrior.

Swinging it casually, he stared down the horde of creatures.

"Alright, self-proclaimed flesh hunters... Time to turn you into a buffet."

He flung the food box with pinpoint precision, the heavy container smashing into one kobold’s head with a sickening crunch.

Before the others could react, Ye Tian leaped toward them, weapon raised.

The kobolds, despite their small size and weak constitution, were terrifying in numbers.

They surged forward like a wave of hunger and fury, their bloodlust palpable.

But Ye Tian wasn’t intimidated.

"R.I.P... My dear, Kobolds!"

His first swing was devastating.

The iron ball arced through the air, crashing into the horde and reducing the front line to a pulp.

Bones shattered, and green blood splattered across the walls.

The kobolds screeched in rage, their numbers undeterred.

Ye Tian stomped forward, stomping one kobold’s skull into paste while using his weapon to mow through the rest.

At one point, he discarded the weapon entirely, opting for his bare hands.

He grabbed one kobold by the neck and slammed it into the ground, then spun around, using its limp body as a club to batter the others.

Blood sprayed everywhere as his rampage continued.

The hallway was now a battlefield, littered with corpses and rivers of green blood.

The last kobold, trembling, tried to take advantage of Ye Tian’s distraction.

It raised its bow, aiming carefully, and fired an arrow.

Ye Tian sensed it.

In the last moment, he tilted his head, the arrow grazing his ear.

He turned, a wild grin spreading across his face.

"Nice try motherfucker."

In a flash, he lunged forward, stomping the kobold’s head into the ground with such force that its skull cracked.

He stood amidst the carnage, surveying the aftermath.

The hallway was an abattoir, corpses stacked like firewood.

But something caught his attention... a peculiar pattern in the blood.

The green liquid from the kobolds’ bodies had started to connect, forming thin, snaking lines.

He crouched down, touching one of the lines with his finger.

"Isn’t this..." he muttered with a grin.

"Itadakimasu."

A black aura emanated from his hand as the Nine Heavens Devouring Technique activated.

The black flames erupted, engulfing the kobold corpses in an instant.

The flesh, bones, and even their lingering mana were devoured, leaving behind nothing but ash.

The flames coiled like a serpent, growing larger and more ferocious.

A red, elongated eye flickered within the flames, glaring momentarily before being sucked into Ye Tian’s palm.
