Chapter 76: Chapter 75 But She Calls Me Onni-chan_1

The classroom, on the verge of being interrupted by the bell, was far from quiet; on the contrary, many people enjoyed chatting with those around them in such an atmosphere.

"Ah~" Takahashi Saeko yawned, revealing a rare state of sleepiness, which prompted Ayatsuki Ayaka to ask with concern, "Saeko, did you not sleep well last night?"

"Yeah, there were some troublesome matters I couldn’t sort out." Takahashi Saeko rubbed her temples.

She had utilized the Street Cleaner’s network in search of Dio’s whereabouts, questioning quite a few people, including some local bosses who might be harboring foreigners. The response she got was negative. Dio was over 1.95 meters tall, a blond Caucasian, and well-built. With such distinct characteristics, he should have been easy to find in Tokyo. Yet, there wasn’t a single piece of information. Dio’s name could be faked, but it was unlikely that his physique and appearance could be. However, even Takahashi Saeko could not find anyone meeting the criteria, leading her to conclude that a massive power was concealing Dio. Only that could erase all those conspicuous traits.

Her first thought was the CIA, but she immediately dismissed that idea. If Dio were with the CIA, there wouldn’t have been an investigation unit looking into him. Take the Okubo nursing home case, for example. With so many dead, the police hadn’t even filed a case, and the related police inspector and coroner had likely been taken to the US military base, probably never to appear in Tokyo again. The weirdest part was that the CIA still wanted to investigate the truth of the event. It was as if the left hand delivered a resounding slap to someone’s face, while the right hand earnestly patted them on the shoulder and said, ’Don’t worry, I’ll definitely find the person who slapped you.’ This time, the incident triggered by Dio had received no response from the CIA at all, indicating they were not involved.

Could it possibly be related to the KGB? Takahashi Saeko’s mind flashed with inspiration as she considered how to investigate.

"Saeko~" Ayatsuki Ayaka waved her hand in front of her, saying with a worried expression, "You seem so distracted. You’d better get some good sleep."

"Telling me to sleep right before class starts, you’re really something, Ayaka."

"Hehe, you don’t need to praise me like that." Ayatsuki Ayaka’s face showed a slightly embarrassed smile as she patted her plump chest and said, "We’re friends. Rest assured and sleep; I’ll cover for you!"

Takahashi Saeko smiled. Some things, if not properly explained to Ayaka, she wouldn’t understand. That’s what made her adorable.

"Ayaka, instead of worrying about me, you should take a look at the corner. Those two are getting quite close."

Ayatsuki Ayaka glanced towards the back of the classroom, by the window, where a blonde girl was sprawled on the desk. From this distance, it looked like their heads were touching. Luckily, they were keeping low. Face to face... it probably would’ve given off the impression they were fiercely swapping saliva.

"It’s fine. They’re just normal friends. Aozawa’s heart has long been in the palm of my hand," Ayatsuki Ayaka replied defiantly.

Tama Park chuckled and said, "Ayaka, keep it up!"

"Right, we’ll all support you," Miyahara Kaoru, who was sitting next to her, added.

Unlike what Takahashi Saeko believed, she had no intention of hindering Ayatsuki Ayaka’s romance with Aozawa. In fact, she couldn’t wait for the two of them to get together. In Miyahara Kaoru’s judgment, Aozawa was definitely a total playboy. Ayatsuki Ayaka, who was drawing close to Aozawa, would inevitably get hurt. And when Ayatsuki Ayaka was wounded all over by love, it would be her turn to appear, healing those scars one by one. Miyahara Kaoru wouldn’t try to change Ayatsuki Ayaka’s mind proactively; she was willing to wait patiently by Ayaka’s side. Until death. She believed that one day, Ayatsuki Ayaka would understand who truly loved her. And Aozawa, in Miyahara Kaoru’s eyes, was merely the ’catalyst’ that would hasten that realization.

She glanced at the back row, hoping in her heart that Aozawa’s scumbag index would rise again!

「...」

The morning’s four classes ended.

It was time for the lunch break again. Aozawa, unsure of what to eat, habitually ordered eel ramen. He carried his ramen to his usual spot and sat down.

Phoenix Academy Maggie was sitting opposite him, having ordered tonkotsu ramen. Just as she was about to speak, she noticed a girl approaching them. From the direction she was heading and the look in her eyes, Phoenix Academy Maggie could guess whom the girl was looking for.

"Aozawa, you’ve had quite a few admirers recently," she said.

"Why bring that up all of a sudden?" A look of surprise flashed across Aozawa’s face.

Phoenix Academy Maggie rolled her eyes at him and said, "Just look to your left."

Aozawa glanced to his left and spotted the approaching black-haired girl. Her delicate features seemed as if painted by an artist. She had willow-shaped eyebrows and almond eyes. Her pale, smooth skin, like a bowl of silky tofu, conveyed her sweetness and tenderness.

"Her name is Hojo Shouko, Tetsuji’s younger sister," Aozawa explained to Phoenix Academy Maggie across the table, then beckoned, "Shouko, why are you having your bento in the cafeteria today?"

Hojo Shouko came forward with her bento box, bowed, and said, "Good afternoon, Aozawa-senpai, Phoenix Academy’s Senior. I’m sorry to disturb your lunch break. I have an urgent matter and need to consult Aozawa-senpai."

Phoenix Academy Maggie was very surprised. Such a polite girl is Tetsuji’s younger sister? No way! She inwardly doubted it.

Aozawa asked, "Does your urgent matter have to do with Tetsuji becoming a monk?"

"Yes." Hojo Shouko nodded. She placed her bento box on the table, smoothed out her skirt along her hips with her left hand, and then sat down gracefully beside Aozawa. "Brother has returned from the uninhabited island, and I’m very happy. But he wants to become a monk and cut off the Hojo family line. I must stop him!"

In Japan, monks can marry and have children, but Hojo Shouko knew her brother’s temperament. If he became a monk for the reason of transcending secular life, he would definitely lead the traditional monastic life—abstaining from alcohol, meat, and marriage. Hojo Shouko didn’t want her brother to become that kind of monk. Their parents were getting on in years and couldn’t be rushed to produce another child at this time. If she married, she would have to take her husband’s surname, and her future children wouldn’t be able to carry on the Hojo family legacy. As for adopting a son-in-law... the Hojo family only had its corporate drone business; it was doubtful anyone would want to inherit that.

"Aozawa-senpai, is there any way you can stop Brother from becoming a monk?"

Listening to her soft and sweet voice, Aozawa remembered being falsely accused of being a pervert by the girl the day before. He looked down, blew on his ramen, and said slowly, "When you need something, you call me Aozawa-senpai. When you don’t, you call me Pervert-senpai. Shouko, you can’t be so opportunistic."

Hojo Shouko thought for a moment, then turned, pressed her palms together, her large almond eyes full of entreaty, and pleaded, "Onni-chan~ Please help Shouko. Onni-chan~"

HSS. Aozawa’s hand holding the chopsticks trembled, his bones nearly melting. The sharp glare coming from across the table brought him back to his senses. Phoenix Academy Maggie sat upright, a look of disgust on her face.

"Hey, Maggie, she’s the one who called me Onni-chan. Can I be blamed for that?" Aozawa immediately defended himself, then said seriously, "Shouko, I’ll help you with this matter."

"So that’s how it is. To get Aozawa-senpai’s help, you need to call him Onni-chan." Hojo Shouko learned something new.
