Chapter 394: Chapter 351: I Don’t Believe There Are Such Incorruptible and Upright Bureaucrats
"Ding-ding-ding! Ding-ding-ding!"
Aoyama Xiu Xin rang the doorbell at the Yanchuan Family’s house.
He was greeted by Asakawa Xia.
Her hair casually spilled over her shoulders, and she was dressed in a white camisole nightgown worn at home. The thin silk clung to her skin, accentuating her graceful curves. She stood barefoot on a pair of soft, delicate feet, the very image of a virtuous wife brimming with appeal.
Though there was a chill outside, the house remained warm as spring, allowing for such light attire.
"Good morning, sister-in-law," Aoyama Xiu Xin said, bowing respectfully to his brother’s wife, who was as stunning as a flowering jade.
As soon as she saw Aoyama Xiu Xin, Asakawa Xia felt somewhat uneasy, considering she had last fed him dumpling skins and even used her foot to give his brother a back massage. To avoid showing any oddness, she adopted a cold and haughty demeanor, "Hmm, come in."
After speaking, she turned and walked into the house, her legs pressed tightly together.
Aoyama Xiu Xin wasn’t bothered and followed her into the house, changing into slippers. From behind, his sister-in-law had a waist and hips that could be described as perfection. Even a loose nightgown couldn’t hide her contours; the lace-trimmed hem swayed gently with her steps, a fleeting glimpse of creamy white flesh stirring the onlooker’s desires.
"Brother Xianyou," Aoyama Xiu Xin diverted his gaze after reaching the living room and bowed to Yanchuan Xianyou.
Yanchuan Xianyou was reading a newspaper on the couch and looked up at him, "You’re here, have a seat."
"Hi!" Aoyama Xiu Xin replied and sat down tidily, acutely aware of the host’s suppressed irritation.
Feeling guilty, he grew uneasy—could it be that he had been discovered eating his sister-in-law’s dumpling skins?
He couldn’t help but cast a surreptitious glance at Asakawa Xia.
Asakawa Xia, ignoring him on purpose, felt an inexplicable irritation from his gaze. Was this kid planning to recreate their last encounter? In her dreams! She tugged her skirt down to cover her thighs and glared at him.
But in doing so, she covered one area while exposing another—the neckline of her gown failed to conceal the generous cleavage.
Aoyama Xiu Xin only took one look before subtly averting his gaze to avoid being caught by Yanchuan Xianyou.
Asakawa Xia felt a chill across her chest and realized she had accidentally exposed herself. Annoyed and somewhat embarrassed, she tugged at her neckline to cover up, blaming Aoyama Xiu Xin, that lecherous man, for disturbing her composure.
Finally, Yanchuan Xianyou finished reading the newspaper, tossed it aside, and said, "I’ve been talking with the heads of various local banks recently. I thought they’d all happily join in the profits, but someone not only showed no gratitude but also sabotaged me, which is very hurtful and infuriating."
"Such a thing happened?" Aoyama Xiu Xin, sitting upright, showed an appropriate level of surprise before expressing solidarity, "Who could it be? So ungrateful. Brother Xianyou, just tell me, and I’ll persuade him. I’m sure he’ll come around."
If reasoning with the person wouldn’t work...
He had some skills in martial arts.
Since Yanchuan Xianyou had called him specifically to discuss this matter, it meant he was expected to handle it; better to volunteer proactively.
"I knew I could count on you, Xiu Xin; I couldn’t manage half of this without you," Yanchuan Xianyou said with a slight smile, making it seem like a big deal to Asakawa Xia.
Asakawa Xia smiled and chimed in, "Absolutely, there are many who can handle tasks, but few who can do them well."
"I’m flattered, big brother, big sister. I’m just average, but since I’m grateful for your support and care, I give my all in everything," Aoyama Xiu Xin replied, striking a balance between modesty and acknowledging his indebtedness.
"See, he’s not only capable but also speaks well," Yanchuan Xianyou laughed, pointing at Aoyama Xiu Xin. He then gradually grew serious, took a document bag beside him, and shook it," I only realized after dealing with them that Tanaka Guikuma from Osaka Bank had long been scheming with other banks to unite against Nozawa Finance—trying to pressure the government for policy support while simultaneously lowering loan rates to compete with us in the market."
"Thankfully, Xiu Xin, the wedding gift you gave me was timely. Otherwise, they might have been up to something. I’ve managed to sway a few banks in our favor through negotiations, but several still support Tanaka Guikuma. The majority are sitting on the fence, ready to sway with the wind."
"At the heart of it, these banks are dissatisfied with us. They wouldn’t dare confront us on their own, but they’d dare to chirp along if someone else leads the charge. You understand, don’t you, Xiu Xin?"
"I understand!" Aoyama Xiu Xin replied without hesitation.
The plan was to deal with the outspoken Tanaka Guikuma, destroying the enemy’s core leadership and setting an example to others.
"Mm-hmm." Yanchuan Xianyou nodded, then passed the document bag over, "This is Tanaka Guikuma’s file. Take it and study up."
"Hi!" Aoyama Xiu Xin received it with both hands and then stood up, bowing, "Please wait for my good news then, Brother Xianyou. I’ll take my leave now."
"Xia, see the guest out," Yanchuan Xianyou called.
Asakawa Xia stood up with a smile, "Please, Xiu Xin."
"Thank you, sister-in-law," Aoyama Xiu Xin said, bowing politely and following her to the door.
At the doorway, Asakawa Xia stopped, turned back, and said in a low voice, "You better forget about last time and stop thinking nonsense."
It was meant to warn him to forget what had happened last time,
but it almost served as a reminder for him to recall it.
"What incident is big sister talking about? I can’t seem to remember," Aoyama Xiu Xin asked with a lick of his lips.
He vividly remembered the dumpling skins, with few wrinkles, smooth and elastic, the juice squirting out.
Seeing his gesture, Asakawa Xia’s heart skipped a beat, suppressing the rising agitation and stating, "Please go slowly."
"Hi!" Aoyama Xiu Xin left with long strides.
Standing at the door, Asakawa Xia bit her red lips unconsciously and touched the somewhat moist spot with her hand. Then, realizing this gesture was unbecoming, her face flushed red, and she closed the door.
She kept reflecting in her heart, her own status was so noble, how could she let a peasant like Aoyama Xiu Xin defile her and still be unable to forget it?
Could it be that I’m inherently a wanton woman?
No! Impossible, it’s not like that! She was of noble blood, having received a decent higher education!
Entering the living room, she saw Yanchuan Xianyou, and her eyes held a hint of reproachful resentment—it was all her husband’s fault for always treating her perfunctorily in bed. Otherwise, why would she think of another man? Yes, it wasn’t her fault—it was all his!
If it weren’t for him calling out another woman’s name on their wedding night, how could she have impulsively made a mistake with Aoyama Xiu Xin? It was all his fault.
Thinking this way, the sense of shame towards herself and guilt towards her husband in Asakawa Xia’s heart not only vanished but became a righteous indignation.
"Hmph!" She snorted in displeasure.
Yanchuan Xianyou felt baffled, staring at her with a bewildered expression, "What have I done to upset you now?"
"Heh." Asakawa Xia gave a derisive laugh without true mirth.
Some women are just incredible, always finding ways to turn their own faults into someone else’s.
...
After leaving Yanchuan Xianyou’s house, the work-loving Aoyama Xiu Xin went straight to Police Headquarters to work.
Sitting in his office, he opened a file envelope.
Tanaka Guikuma, male, 47 years old, President of Osaka Bank, married, with his wife alive, both parents deceased. A pair of fraternal twins, both in their first year at Tokyo University, successful in his career, with a happy family life.
At this age, at this position, he was considered young and promising among his older peers—no wonder he dared to be the spearhead, clearly intending to make a big move using this opportunity.
If the alliance he was spearheading formed, setting aside whether it could successfully take down Nozawa Financial Corporation, just during this process, he, as the leader, could gain many advantages from the alliance.
As for this guy, first of all, he could not be killed.
One, because he was no ordinary person and held a certain influence; killing him could easily plunge Nozawa Financial Corporation into another public relations scandal.
Two, because killing Tanaka Guikuma wouldn’t solve the problem effectively. "Hurt one to warn a hundred" but might instead anger other banks, causing those who were neutral to band together and resist cooperating with Nozawa Financial Corporation.
Moreover, if they wanted to make an example out of Tanaka Guikuma, they had to do it through legal means, using public authority to rightfully send him to jail, leading him to ruin and disgrace. That would terrify other bank bureaucrats much more than his death.
For the bureaucrats, the only thing that could make them revere was greater power. Being able to deal with Tanaka Guikuma meant they could also handle anyone else.
And after seeing the downfall of Tanaka Guikuma, the rest wouldn’t dare to recklessly step forward one after another to resist.
The ones who could achieve this could not be the bureaucrats who forgot their responsibilities for personal gain; it would only be the proletarian warriors!
Continuing to read the file, it showed that Tanaka Guikuma had never been involved in any romantic scandals, he was faithful to his wife, and he was not overly indulgent in material pursuits. He also raised his children well.
He was also keen on charitable work, often donating to an orphanage in Osaka, even going there in person to volunteer, teaching children, serving meals, playing games, etc...
Not greedy for money, not lecherous, focused solely on making achievements—damn, this SOB actually has aspirations.
Aoyama Xiu Xin hated this kind of person the most; their lack of greed and lust meant they were not his kind of people, and it also made it difficult for him to find a way to deal with them.
And the existence of such people.
Seemed to cast him in an even more unfavorable light.
Moving on in the file, he began to suspect that this information was written by Tanaka Guikuma himself; it all indicated that he was an upright and selfless man.
He picked up the phone and called Nakamura Shinichi.
Nakamura Shinichi quickly came in response to the call, "Police Chief, what are your orders?"
"This man, look into him again; this file seems too superficial. I don’t believe Japan has such upright and incorruptible bureaucrats," Aoyama Xiu Xin said indifferently, tossing Tanaka Guikuma’s file over.
He, himself, was a bureaucrat; didn’t he have a right to speak?
This file felt fake to him, just like his own public profile, equally flashy and praiseworthy, portraying him as uncorrupt, but he knew all too well what kind of bastard he was behind closed doors.
He always liked to judge others by himself.
Either Tanaka Guikuma was very well-hidden, so the investigator arranged by Yanchuan Xianyou couldn’t find any dirt on him.
Or else...
Well, let him be impressive then!
Nakamura Shinichi took a glance at the file, then looked up and said, "Hey! Police Chief, I don’t trust it either."
He was a bureaucrat, too; he also had a right to speak.
"Quickly," Aoyama Xiu Xin waved his hand.
Nakamura Shinichi bowed and then turned to leave.
