Chapter 368: Chapter 332: Don’t judge a book by its cover, Suspicion, Taking temperature (Vote for monthly tickets!)
"Mr. Miyamoto, please close the door for me."
Tsumada Yu courteously said after entering the room.
The layout of his room was simple, consisting of a single bed, a large wardrobe, and a computer desk.
It was neither particularly tidy nor disorderly.
"Hi!" Although Mr. Miyamoto didn’t understand why, the naive and kind-hearted man still turned and closed the bedroom door.
He had no defenses against his landlord.
But the moment he closed the door, a rope from behind was slipped around his neck and forcefully tightened.
"Uh—uh—uh—"
Caught off guard, Mr. Miyamoto’s eyes bulged as he flailed his arms and stamped his feet on the ground, thumping sounds resonating, his face gradually turning pale.
He couldn’t fathom why the landlord would want to kill him.
Tsumada Yu’s hands clutched the rope tightly, his usual honest and gentle face replaced by a fierce and hideous one as he bit his teeth and continued to exert force.
He even turned around, placing the rope over his shoulder, and walked forward while pulling.
After about one or two minutes, Mr. Miyamoto stopped struggling, his life choked out, dying with his eyes wide open.
"Thump!"
Tsumada Yu let go of the rope, and the body fell to the floor.
"Huff—huff—huff—"
Tsumada Yu gasped for air, sweat beads formed on his forehead; for someone who never left his house, such an act was an extreme physical exertion.
So he too was exhausted.
After resting for a while and regaining some strength, Tsumada Yu stood up. He then moved a large wardrobe in the corner, knelt down, and pried open a floor tile, revealing a hole leading to the room below. After prying open four more tiles, the hole widened as he broke through the floorboards.
Next, he first dropped the body down the hole, then brought over a foldable ladder, placed it at the edge of the hole, and descended into the room downstairs.
The room contained three large freezers and a workbench piled with gunpowder and other explosive materials.
He opened one of the freezers, and inside lay a frozen stiff body, none other than Oda Hikari, who was wanted nationwide by the police, and now there was another, Mr. Miyamoto.
Tsumada Yu quickly checked the other two freezers, almost as if he feared the bodies would escape.
With all four bodies present, he revealed a satisfied smile. There were a total of six bodies, all former tenants who had rented his room.
He was very selective about his tenants, preferring those like Mr. Miyamoto, who seemed naively honest and had a weak character, and orphans were even better.
Such people were easy to control and deceive.
Each time a transaction occurred, he would have the tenants carry it out under the guise of selling small handcrafts or delivering something for a friend, keeping himself completely out of sight.
After each transaction, Tsumada Yu would kill them and freeze their bodies in the freezers. It was best if no one came looking, but if they did, the trail would end at the tenant, leading nowhere near him.
Just like the other day when he was caught and taken to Police Headquarters but then released, after all, who would suspect such a sleazy, unkempt, and honest-seeming unemployed man?
After storing Mr. Miyamoto’s body, Tsumada Yu climbed back up to his room, tossed Mr. Miyamoto’s personal belongings downstairs, and began to wrap things up.
For someone who had already killed five people, cleaning up a murder scene had become second nature.
Once everything was taken care of, he sat nonchalantly in front of his computer and started browsing BBS. The internet was a wonderful thing; even bomb-making he had learned from it.
Every day he could learn something new.
Meanwhile, Nozaki Cangjian and the Bucktoothed kid were on their way back to their hideout, looking for an opportunity to call Aoyama Xiu Xin and report, "Chief, the person who came for the bomb deal today wasn’t Oda Hikari, but a young man surnamed Miyamoto. But he seems to be just a runner, someone named Tsumada is behind him."
"Tsumada?" Hearing this surname, Aoyama Xiu Xin instantly thought of Tsumada Yu, who had been caught and released.
Then, as if a lightbulb went off in his head, he conjured a suspicion that needed confirmation.
Nozaki Cangjian affirmed, "Yes, Miyamoto asked us if we were friends of Tsumada, he seemed to have no idea there were bombs in the bag."
"Tell me your impression of this Miyamoto," Police Chief Aoyama pondered for a moment, squinting his eyes as he spoke.
"Honest, somewhat self-deprecating and timid, his accent is from out of town," Nozaki Cangjian carefully described.
"That’s all." With that, Aoyama Xiu Xin hung up and then called Chi Ben Xinzhang, instructing him, "Immediately look into whether Tsumada Yu knows a young man with the surname Miyamoto."
"Hi!" Chi Ben Xinzhang went to carry out the order.
About an hour later, he returned to report to Aoyama Xiu Xin, "Chief, according to Tsumada Yu, he had recently taken in a young tenant named Miyamoto."
"Where is he?" Aoyama Xiu Xin immediately asked.
Chi Ben Xinzhang replied, "Tsumada says he hurried out early this morning and hasn’t been reachable since."
"Dammit! This guy!" Aoyama Xiu Xin sneered as his suspicion was confirmed, "Mr. Akahon, the wanted Oda Hikari is innocent. The real bomb-maker is the seemingly timid and cowardly Tsumada Yu!"
"Ah?" Chi Ben Xinzhang looked bewildered, incredulous, "Chief, are you sure it’s him? But Yokoyama Jie, who planted the bombs, said it was Oda Hikari who delivered them. Could there be a mistake?"
It seemed unlikely that Tsumada Yu, with his disposition that even the street dogs dared to piss on, would dare to commit a crime.
"Was Oda Hikari, Tsumada Yu’s tenant, able to refuse when faced with his landlord’s request to help deliver something?" Aoyama Xiu Xin asked blandly.
Just like Miyamoto had gone to trade with Nozaki Cangjian today, completely unaware of what he was delivering, used by Tsumada Yu’s sort nature, turned into a scapegoat.
And most likely, already silenced by a cruel fate.
Without waiting for Chi Ben Xinzhang to reply, Aoyama Xiu Xin issued an order, "Immediately put Tsumada Yu under surveillance and investigate the whereabouts of all his tenants."
"Sir!" Although Chi Ben Xinzhang did not understand why Aoyama Xiu Xin suddenly insisted that Tsumada Yu was the mastermind, he had no choice but to carry out the order.
After all, history would prove that Police Chief Aoyama never failed to solve a case; perhaps it was some special premonition.
Watching Chi Ben Xinzhang leave, Aoyama Xiu Xin picked up the phone and dialed Asakura Yurong, "Come over."
Knock knock knock! A moment later, a knock on the door sounded.
"Come in," said Aoyama Xiu Xin.
Asakura Yurong entered, "Chief."
Today she was dressed differently again. Due to the weather turning cooler, she was wearing a thin, grey, tight-fitting sweater on her upper body, perfectly outlining the round shape of her chest and her slender waist.
The lower half consisted of black wide-leg pants paired with pointed high heels, and her plump and full buttocks showed faintly discernible curves with her movements, the whole person like a piece of soft and savory braised pork, fat yet not greasy.
"Monitor Tsumada Yu’s tracks on various BBS activities," Aoyama Xiu Xin said calmly.
Asakura Yurong bowed and replied, "Sir!"
Inside, she felt a hint of disappointment; she had been anxious, thinking that Aoyama Xiu Xin called her for some unspeakable private matter, but it turned out to be official business.
In the past few days, for some reason, Aoyama Xiu Xin hadn’t been deliberately taking advantage of her, which made her feel uneasy and worried that he had lost interest.
She felt she couldn’t just sit and wait for doom.
Therefore, she planned to take the initiative.
"Let me add some water for you." Taking a deep breath, she stepped forward to pick up Aoyama Xiu Xin’s water cup, went to the water dispenser, and bent down to fill it, her full moon lifted high.
This movement caused the fabric of her pants to stretch tighter, even the pattern of her underwear was showing through.
In such a deliberate seduction, Asakura Yurong’s cheeks flushed pink, biting her red lips as she endured the torment of shame, but she tried hard to pose provocatively.
Aoyama Xiu Xin watched with interest.
Such clumsy, naive seduction.
After filling the water, Asakura Yurong walked back to the desk, hands extended with water to Aoyama Xiu Xin, intentionally leaning her body forward more than necessary, the heavy fruit seemingly eager to press against Aoyama Xiu Xin’s face to share their warmth.
"Chief Asakura, are you trying to seduce me?"
Aoyama Xiu Xin directly asked as he took the water glass.
"Ah!" Asakura Yurong was instantly embarrassed, her face turning pale, overwhelmed by shame and unable to hide her disgrace; although that was indeed what she was doing, such blatant exposure by the other party was mortifying.
Aoyama Xiu Xin took a sip of water, and with a light tone said, "Too subtle, I like it more direct."
Asakura Yurong hesitated for a moment, then shyly looked up, her hands reaching for the hem of her clothing and slowly lifting it, revealing a pair of dazzling headlights.
Dazzling Aoyama Xiu Xin.
She closed her eyes tight, her body shaking slightly, allowing Aoyama Xiu Xin to admire her weighty conscience.
"Chief Asakura, why is your face so red? Do you have a fever? Let me check your temperature; you wouldn’t mind my thermometer."
Police Chief Aoyama was always concerned about his subordinates.
Upon hearing this, Asakura Yurong hesitated for a moment, then slowly knelt on the floor and crawled into the space at Aoyama Xiu Xin’s feet.
"38 degrees, indeed you have a fever."
Aoyama Xiu Xin’s thermometer was an artificial intelligence product, announcing the temperature aloud after obtaining the result.
After confirming that Asakura Yurong indeed had a high fever, Aoyama Xiu Xin also prescribed her medication.
Asakura Yurong, significantly improved after taking the medicine, thanked him profusely before leaving.
Before leaving for lunch, Aoyama Xiu Xin was getting ready to eat when the office door was suddenly pushed open.
Chi Ben Xinzhang rushed in, excitedly saying, "Chief, big discovery—one in the last six months, Tsumada Yu took in six tenants, and all five before Miyamoto have mysteriously disappeared. These people share the trait of being from out of town, timid, and naive. You really have a discerning eye, Tsumada Yu is indeed suspicious!"
"The missing people are probably all victims of his crimes, including today’s Miyamoto," Aoyama Xiu Xin sneered, "Disguised as a vile coward to deceive others, using the tenant’s kind nature to make illegal transactions on his behalf, then killing these people to silence them, impossible to trace back to him."
If it wasn’t for Nozaki Cangjian this time, even he would’ve never suspected Tsumada Yu.
"It has to be; he chooses all out-of-town tenants and orphans, people who will not be reported missing if they disappear from Tokyo," Chi Ben Xinzhang said, breathing heavily and angrily, "This bastard dares to make fools of us; we must show him a lesson, Chief, please order his immediate arrest."
Although it was likely that Oda Hikari and the others had been silenced, and they lacked evidence to prove Tsumada Yu’s guilt, Chi Ben Xinzhang was confident that once they caught him, they would certainly be able to pry his mouth open.
"Arrest him and interrogate well; I despise dishonest people," Aoyama Xiu Xin said with a grin that was anything but a smile.
Once inside the Police Headquarters interrogation room, even The Buddha’s golden body would lose a layer.
Chi Ben Xinzhang nodded heavily, "Sir! Rest assured, Chief, I will make him confess!"
