Chapter 565: 219 Check into Ma’s Mansion (Part 1)
Yueyao not only had to move her belongings to Ma’s Mansion but also to settle the people who followed her, including the families of the maids by her side.
Yueyao asked several maids, including Ruo Cui, for their opinions. If they were willing to go with her to Ma’s Mansion, she would definitely settle them well. If they chose not to go, Yueyao was also willing to release their servitude contracts and ask for no compensation.
Yueyao said with a smile, "You can now go back and consult your parents’ opinions, and come back in one Shichen Chinese time to tell me your decisions."
In the end, Ruo Cui and Ruo Mi stayed, while Ruo Xiao’s family obtained their servitude contract and left the Lian Mansion.
Yueyao would inquire about the maids who served by her side, but there was no need to inquire about the other common maids and old nannies; they simply stayed at the Lian Mansion.
After preparing for two days, they began moving on the third day. The Chief Steward, following Ma Chengteng’s orders, personally handled the matter.
Yueyao’s belongings were too many, and not to mention others, even Yueyao herself felt a headache looking at more than twenty booklets. Nanny Hao and Nanny Deng carried out their tasks with the spirit of a swift autumn wind, packing everything that could be taken.
The Chief Steward was shocked to hear that there were over ninety boxes. Such a large-scale movement would definitely attract attention along the way, which was not a good thing.
Upon receiving the news, Ma Chengteng simply said, "Whatever Yueyao asks to be moved, you move it!" Yueyao probably didn’t trust Lady Cheng, hence she moved all these valuable items.
Lian Dongfang’s face turned ashen. If he allowed Yueyao to do this, the Lian family could no longer show their faces in the Capital City. Lian Dongfang immediately went to find Yueyao. He was not against Yueyao moving the items, but they could not all be moved at once—transport them every half month or month, so it wouldn’t be too conspicuous.
Thinking the items were already sealed, Yueyao instructed Nanny Hao to pack all the valuable items, and those which were neither valuable nor urgently needed could be left for now to be moved later in a few days.
Yueyao had Ma Yuan start by transporting thirty-six boxes, and the rest would be transported every two days, to be completed within a month.
Lady Cheng, upon hearing the news, wished she could kill all those who were moving the items. Those belongings, which originally belonged to her, were now being taken away by this group of robbers. Lady Cheng wished she could strangle Yueyao; moving all the items to Ma’s Mansion was just a benefit to the Ma Family.
Upon hearing that Yueyao moved dozens of carts of items, Yueying’s eyes turned from red to green, and finally, they flashed with anger. With such wealth, Yueyao naturally wouldn’t care about her three thousand taels of silver, but for Yueying, that amount was her lifeline.
Cai Qing, hearing Yueying’s resentment grow, lowered her head as low as she could. She finally understood why Third Young Lady had shown no favor toward their lady; she must have seen through her nature long ago. It seemed she also needed to find a way out for herself.
Yuebing sighed softly. This display meant Yueyao would not return to Lian Mansion anymore.
The only one who remained calm was Yuehuan. No matter how many belongings there were, they weren’t hers, and it had nothing to do with her. When she could make her own decisions in the future, she would earn her own money.
Ma’s Mansion was also bustling with excitement as boxes after boxes of items were moved to Begonia Garden. Such a big event could not be kept secret. When Yueyao’s first batch of boxes arrived at Begonia Garden, everyone in Ma’s Mansion knew that Cousin Miss was going to stay in Ma’s Mansion for a long time.
The servants of Ma’s Mansion weren’t too surprised by this, mainly because Ma Chengteng was very fond of Yueyao and had always wanted her to stay long-term in Ma’s Mansion, so everyone was quite calm.
The only ones who were not calm were Lady Cheng, Linlin, and Loo Ying.
Upon hearing that Yueyao had moved more than thirty boxes to Begonia Garden, Lady Cheng asked, "What exactly has she moved over there?"
Lady Cheng’s most hated person was none other than Yueyao. If her plans back then had succeeded and Ma Peng had married her niece, she would not have been suppressed by Zhuang Ruolan and be living a restricted life now. However, Lady Cheng, despite her dissatisfaction with Yueyao, had no control over Ma’s Mansion and thus could do nothing to her.
The old nanny had no idea what was inside the boxes. The boxes were sealed, and no one dared to break the seals unless they wished for death.
Lady Cheng was thinking of sending the maid and old nanny to find out exactly what was in the boxes when Linlin came in.
Linlin said urgently, "Mother, I heard that Yueyao is going to stay in our home for a long time. Is this true?" Linlin did not want Yueyao to stay in her home. With Yueyao present, she would have no good days.
Lady Cheng did not want Yueyao to move in either, but this was Ma Chengteng’s decision, and she had no authority to deny it: "She will be staying in Begonia Garden, which doesn’t concern you much. Linlin, you should also keep your distance from her in the future; she’s like a jinx, and the more you’re in contact, the more unlucky you’ll be."
