Chapter 426: Chapter 426: All’s Well, Lord Ghost Envoy
"Save me?" Yin Wanning didn’t question the truthfulness of her words but was rather curious as she asked, "Why save me?"
At the moment, Qi Yu couldn’t find a reason and could only vaguely respond, "I was asked by someone. For now, just stay here and rest assured."
Hearing this, Yin Wanning didn’t ask further. She nodded slightly and agreed, "Okay."
Qi Yu let out a sigh of relief, then remembered something and extended her hand toward her, "Give me your right hand."
Although puzzled by her request, Yin Wanning complied and stretched out her hand as instructed.
Qi Yu pressed on her pulse, checked it, and slowly said, "Although Zhao Qingrou didn’t use much poison when she drugged you, it’s still harmful to the body. I’ll write you a prescription in a moment. Get the medicine and take it to remove the toxins from your body."
After speaking, she released her wrist, took a piece of paper and a pen, and wrote a prescription.
Yin Wanning was somewhat surprised, "You can also read pulses?"
Qi Yu smiled and said, "I am a doctor."
In the midst of talking, she had hastily finished writing the prescription.
Although the handwriting was as ugly as always, it was still readable.
Yin Wanning pursed her lips, a shallow dimple emerging at the corner of her mouth.
Qi Yu scratched her head somewhat sheepishly, "My handwriting is a bit ugly."
Yin Wanning smiled and shook her head, "No, your characters have their own unique style."
Hearing this, Qi Yu raised an eyebrow, thinking Mingjue really should learn from her what the art of language meant.
The two chatted for a few more sentences before Qi Yu left.
That night, she purposefully changed into a maid’s clothes and walked openly around the house, not arousing any suspicion.
But Qi Yu knew there were countless eyes watching in the house; Cang Ming’s controlling desire almost reached a perverse level. No big or small matter in the house could escape his notice.
She wasn’t worried at all about being discovered, as her purpose in walking around like this was to attract someone out.
And her plan worked very well.
All along the way, she felt someone following her.
This person had light footsteps, but compared to true light-footed masters like Seventeen and Shen Nanxing, they were far inferior.
Thus, without any surprise, she noticed them.
As she approached the other courtyard, Qi Yu deliberately slowed down.
As expected, the person trailing behind her also slowed down.
Standing in front of the other courtyard, she suddenly turned her gaze, looking to the side.
But the path was empty, devoid of any figure.
In the night, it was so quiet that only the sound of the wind could be heard.
Qi Yu slightly curved her lips, her eyes landing on a towering ancient tree not far away. Her red lips parted, she spoke softly, "Come out."
In a moment, a black shadow walked out from behind the tree.
Moonlight shone on the person’s skin, which was nearly translucent, and a pair of pitch-black pupils appeared fierce and filled with a hidden murderous intent in the dark night.
Qi Yu’s eyes sparkled with interest, meeting her gaze directly, and after a moment, she curved her lips and said, "Long time no see, hope all is well, Ghost Envoy."
On the other side, at Tulan Imperial Palace, the sun shone high in the sky.
Mo Qingshan and Shen Xiheng took different paths; one left the Imperial Palace to search for Jiutu while the other headed towards the Empress’s palace.
The eunuch standing at the gate looked down at Shen Xiheng from his superior position and spoke with arrogance, "Who are you to dare barge into Her Majesty the Empress’s quarters unannounced?"
Shen Xiheng pulled out a piece of gold from his pocket and handed it to the person in front of him. As greed flickered across the eunuch’s face, he said slowly, "Please announce my arrival, I have urgent matters to discuss with Her Majesty the Empress."
The eunuch took the gold piece, weighed it in his hand, and smiled contentedly, "Lord Shen, please wait a moment."
Soon, Shen Xiheng was led inside the Empress’s palace.
He bowed to the Empress and then said, "Your Majesty, I come today with an urgent matter to report."
"What matter could be so important that Lord Shen came in person?" the Empress sneered, a trace of mockery in her eyes.
She was well aware of Shen Xiheng’s intentions. She leisurely sipped her tea, feeling pleased with herself.
With an unchanged expression, Shen Xiheng said, "This matter, Your Majesty probably knows better than I."
The Empress slammed her teacup onto the table and coldly said, "How dare you! What exactly are you implying, Lord Shen?"
Shen Xiheng bowed and said, "I wouldn’t dare."
The Empress waved the palace attendants away, wiped her hands with a handkerchief, and scoffed coldly, "As an official outsider, you dare come uninvited to my personal quarters; for this alone, I could ask the Emperor to have your head!"
Shen Xiheng’s face showed no fear as he calmly responded, "The things you’ve done, if the Emperor were to find out, I fear the consequences might not be any lighter."
"Audacious!" the Empress exclaimed, anger rising in her heart as she pointed at him and scolded, "Who gave you the nerve to speak to me like that!"
Shen Xiheng looked at her with a serene gaze, "If Your Majesty does not want it known that there are two men being held in the Princess Hall, you should release them soon!"
The Empress laughed in her extreme anger, "What if I decide not to?"
Shen Xiheng slightly smiled, his tone congenial as he said, "Then, I fear the Princess’s reputation might not remain intact."
"You—" The Empress, shocked and angry by his words, her fierce eyes widened, "You dare threaten me?"
"I wouldn’t dare," Shen Xiheng maintained his serene demeanor, looking right at her.
The Empress had not thought so much into it initially. She had believed Jiang Xuerong’s words, thinking that disposing of two people was not of grave concern.
But today, after being reminded by Shen Xiheng, she realized how dangerous this plan was.
If those two were dead, all would be fine; bury the bodies, and no one would know what had happened.
However, if they were not dead, once everyone found out and the doors to the Princess Hall remained closed for hours only for two men to emerge from it later,
the rumors would fly, destroying Qiya’s reputation entirely.
With this in mind, the Empress clenched her teeth, yet was unwilling to admit she was being coerced, and coldly said, "I will handle this matter appropriately."
Seeing her relent, Shen Xiheng smiled slightly, bowed, and said, "Then I’ll trouble Your Majesty the Empress."
After he left, the Empress unleashed a great fury, but eventually sent someone to carry out her orders.
Into the palace, as Shi Zhou burst through the doors, Liu Wensheng and Feng Yue had already had their senses sealed. Though they were not controlled by the Poisonous Insect Poison, keeping their senses sealed for too long would also lead to suffocation and death.
Shi Zhou smelled a strange fragrance and instinctively held her breath.
Jiang Xuerong was planning to slowly torture the two men. Suddenly, a loud breaking noise startled her, she raised her head in displeasure and saw who it was, her gaze icy, "It’s you again, you wild girl!"
Shi Zhou stood in front of Liu Wensheng and Feng Yue, unblocking their acupoints and pushing them towards the door while simultaneously fending off attacks from Jiang Xuerong.
Seeing her plans foiled, Jiang Xuerong gritted her teeth and said to Shi Zhou, "Wretch, you’ve ruined my plans over and over, you’re practically asking for death!"
