Chapter 263: Chapter 263: What Would the Prince Do If He Knew?
The voice was neither loud nor soft, just enough for Qi Yu to hear.
She raised her eyebrows slightly and looked through the screen towards the opposite side.
She was familiar with the owner of that voice, wasn’t it Song Yuting who had just been punished with house arrest?
She had been busy with engagements recently and hadn’t had time to deal with her, but now she had run into her again.
On the other end, Song Yuting was still unaware that her words had been overheard.
Today, she had sneaked out through the back door.
Ever since she offended Qi Yu last time, she had been punished by Song Feng to kneel in the ancestral hall for two days and had to copy the family rules until her hands were cramping.
After copying, Song Feng also ordered her to be confined within the yard, forbidding her to go out.
Song Yuting could not bear such boring and tedious days, so today, taking advantage of Song Feng attending the court session, she and Axi sneaked out to get some fresh air.
If she stayed any longer, she felt like she would suffocate in the house.
Axi, hearing her words, was so frightened that she could hardly hold her chopsticks steady. She quickly looked around and shook her head at Song Yuting, saying, "Miss, please don’t speak like that again. If someone heard, it would be the end of us!"
Seeing her nanny’s frightened appearance only made Song Yuting angrier.
She snorted coldly, her eyebrows furrowing unhappily, and scoffed, "What is there to fear, that lowlife isn’t here. And even if she heard us, what can she do about it? She’s allowed to show me disdain in front of that old geezer, but I’m not allowed to speak ill of her?"
Listening to her repeatedly calling people lowlife and old geezer, Axi turned pale.
This was a restaurant, after all, full of people and not well insulated against noise.
If someone with ill intent really overheard them and reported it to Princess Qiu and the General, wouldn’t they, master and servant, be punished even more severely?
Axi hurriedly tried to persuade her, "Walls have ears, Miss. Let’s just focus on our meal. The General should be done with court soon, and we must hurry back."
Song Yuting glared at Axi and pouted.
Although she still wanted to curse a bit more to vent her anger, Axi was not wrong.
She could only keep the remaining words inside her and continued to eat.
Hearing Song Yuting’s voice, Qi Yu couldn’t even enjoy her meal anymore.
Not to mention the fact that she was being insulted there.
However, it was no surprise that Song Yuting had always loathed her to the bone.
Only, had she heard correctly just now? What did Song Yuting call her maternal grandfather?
An old coot?
Qi Yu’s face immediately turned cold. She put down her chopsticks, planning to catch that foul-mouthed person after a while and bring her back to Prince Qiu Residence, then invite a couple of nannies from the palace to properly teach her some manners.
Song Ling, seeing her sipping her peach blossom brew with an indifferent expression, furrowed his brows and asked, "What’s wrong?"
Qi Yu let out a cold laugh and said indifferently, "A fly is giving me a headache."
Song Ling smiled knowingly, "Why should the Princess bother getting upset over her?"
He hadn’t recognized the voice, although Song Yuting had stayed in the Prince Residence for a few days, that was months ago, and he had long since forgotten about her.
Shi Zhou did catch on to something though.
Wasn’t this the same Miss Song who had been crying and sobbing last time?
She glanced at Qi Yu, intending to ask, but then heard a voice coming from the next table.
Song Yuting was sullenly eating, her mind dwelling on the humiliation she suffered earlier, feeling more aggrieved as she tossed her chopsticks down and angrily cursed, "If it weren’t for that lowlife, why would I be under house arrest!"
Axi had been listening to her repeat the same words for days now, looking somewhat helpless.
Song Yuting continued to grumble to herself, "Everything was perfectly planned, how could it turn out like this? It must have been that lowlife who deliberately framed me!"
As she spoke, her expression hinted at a touch of madness.
She had relentlessly brainwashed herself into believing her own lies.
Axi knew she was suffering inside, but at the end of the day, it was all her own doing. What did it have to do with anyone from the Prince Qiu Residence?
But she couldn’t say that; otherwise, she would be scolded again. She could only continue to bury her head and eat.
Qi Yu was still sipping on the peach blossom brew with an indifferent expression, but Shi Zhou was beginning to lose her patience,
She frowned at the person behind the screen, feeling that Qi Yu was just too easy-going.
If anyone dared to slander her like this, calling her a "cheap woman" at every turn, she would have drawn her sword and charged over long ago.
Qi Yu noticed her frown and a flash of murderous intent in her eyes, and said with a chuckle, "I can’t possibly stoop down to argue with flies buzzing around, can I?"
Shi Zhou pursed her lips.
It made sense, but it was unbearably frustrating.
Qi Yu winked at her, "Don’t worry, soon enough, she’ll get what she deserves."
Shi Zhou looked at her, puzzled, not knowing what Qi Yu was planning.
But Qi Yu was never the type to suffer losses. She surely wouldn’t let someone insult her for no good reason.
She put down her sword and stopped paying attention to Song Yuting’s words.
For the evening meal, Qi Yu asked Qian manager to take Qi Mu and Qi Xuan away first.
The scene to follow might be a bit too bloody for the children to witness—it was best to spare them the potential psychological trauma.
She raised her eyebrows at Shi Zhou and gestured towards the screen, "In a while, help me catch someone."
A hint of mockery crossed Shi Zhou’s eyes.
Song Ling was puzzled, "Princess, why do we need to catch someone?"
Qi Yu stood up and straightened the thin garment she was wearing, and sneered lightly, "She dared to insult me; why shouldn’t I capture her?"
With that, she picked up her fan and walked to the side.
Song Yuting was still ranting incessantly, "That wretch, if she dares to show up in front of me again, I will surely..."
She hadn’t finished speaking when she was interrupted by a leisurely voice, "Surely do what?"
Seeing who it was, Song Yuting’s face stiffened, "How did you get here?"
Axi, frightened, quickly knelt down and exclaimed, "Princess, please forgive me."
She was a bit quicker on the uptake than Song Yuting. Seeing Qi Yu appearing here, she realized what had happened.
The words just now must have been overheard by her.
Axi’s face turned pale, cold sweat beading on her forehead, her legs weak, not sure what to do next.
Song Yuting was also at a loss, but she still stiffened her neck and said defiantly, "I was merely cursing someone who offended me. What does it have to do with you?"
Qi Yu saw that she was still lying through her teeth and laughed instead of getting angry. Her eyes filled with chill, she watched her intently, "Would you dare say these things in front of the Prince?"
Song Yuting bit her lip, her whole body trembling.
She was avoiding eye contact, clearly looking like someone with a guilty conscience.
Qi Yu couldn’t be bothered to waste words on her and signaled to Shi Zhou with her eyes.
Shi Zhou stepped forward with her sword, swiftly grabbing the flustered Song Yuting’s hands behind her back.
Song Yuting struggled for a while, only managing to make her own hands hurt more without achieving anything.
Looking at the composed person in front of her, she bitterly gritted her teeth and shouted at Qi Yu, "You wretch, how dare you lay hands on me! Aren’t you afraid of my cousin finding out?"
Qi Yu’s lips curled into a smirk and she laughed coldly before speaking at a leisurely pace, "Take her back to the Prince Residence. After all, I too am very curious about how the Prince would react if he knew."
