Chapter 246: Chapter 246: His Life was Saved by Me

Looking at the faint smile at the corners of her lips, Hong Ling found it particularly irritating.

Her eyes turned cold in an instant, and she scolded, "Seeking death!"

With those words, she leaped up with her sword, and the blade, gleaming with cold light, shot straight toward Qi Yu.

Qi Yu sat unmoving before the carriage, her eyes devoid of any hint of fear.

The sword light passed through the strands of her hair by her temples, lifting her long hair and sending it fluttering in the air.

Hong Ling watched as the blade drew nearer and nearer to that flawless pale face, a look of glee on her own.

But just as the tip of the sword was about to pierce Qi Yu’s face, suddenly another force, even more powerful, repelled her and her sword back.

After regaining her footing, Hong Ling saw that beside Qi Yu now stood two men who hadn’t been there before.

One was dressed in black, his face handsome as a jade sculpture, standing tall and upright in front of Qi Yu.

The other was the mysterious man who had fought with her that night, his sword now aimed at her.

Hong Ling knew she was no match for them; after all, she couldn’t even defeat the man in black.

As for the one behind him with the imposing presence and deep Inner Strength, she had even less confidence in winning.

She thought that the palm strike just now must have been from the man in black.

Just as she thought she had her prey within her grasp, someone unexpectedly came out of nowhere and interrupted.

Hong Ling’s face darkened slightly as she pointed at the two men and demanded, "Who are you? Why must you oppose me time and again?"

Shiqi looked at her impassively and said coldly, "You attempted to assassinate the Princess, you deserve death!"

Upon hearing this, Hong Ling immediately guessed the identities of the two men.

Knowing she couldn’t succeed today, she gritted her teeth and thought of making her escape first.

If they really fought, she wouldn’t gain any advantage.

Moreover, if her master found out, she would be punished.

Shiqi saw her about to run, lifted his sword, and moved to capture her.

But Hong Ling’s Qinggong was outstanding, and she deftly evaded his attacks, as light and graceful as a falling leaf in the woods.

Shiqi had to exert all his strength just to keep up with her, but he couldn’t get close.

Just when Hong Ling felt triumphant, out of the corner of her eye, she suddenly noticed the man in black moving. With a single palm strike, he knocked her to the ground.

"Ah——"

A sharp and miserable scream suddenly echoed through the woods, frightening Song Ting, who was hiding in the carriage, into holding herself tightly.

Shiqi picked up the blood-spitting Hong Ling, threw her in front of the carriage, and said, "Prince, Princess, the person has been caught."

Qi Yu looked at the person on the ground, disheveled and in disarray, and shook her head indifferently, her tone faint, "You tell me, why would you want to kill me so badly?"

Hong Ling struggled to raise her head, her eyes gleaming coldly, "Enough talk, kill or cut me as you please!"

Qi Yu clicked her tongue lightly and looked down at her, "You’ve got quite a backbone."

Hong Ling sneered coldly and paid no attention to her words.

If it wasn’t for the sudden appearance of these two men, it was still uncertain whose life would be forfeit by now.

Qi Yu, as if seeing right through what she was thinking, spoke in a calm voice, "You may not be convinced, but killing me would only hasten your own master’s death."

"What did you say?" Those words enraged Hong Ling; she glared coldly at Qi Yu, her look tangible, "How dare you curse my master!"

"Why wouldn’t I dare?" Qi Yu calmly adjusted her slightly disheveled dress, unconcerned, "After all, it’s his life I saved."

"You—" Hong Ling was nearly infuriated to death by her.

How dare she utter such audacious words.

Clearly it was she who made her master drink those bitter herbal medicines every day.

Qi Yu slightly narrowed her eyes, her cheeks feeling a bit heated from the noonday sun.

She raised her hand to shield her face from the direct sunlight.

Tsk, it seemed she had to make it quick.

"I won’t kill you, but I don’t want to let you off just like that either," Qi Yu said with a faint smile as she gazed at the person before her, seething with indignation. "Go back and accept your punishment. If you’re late, I’m afraid you’ll get kicked out."

With that, she waved her hand, signaling Shiqi to release the person.

Shiqi removed the sword from Hong Ling’s neck, and only after the carriage had gone a good distance did he turn around and follow.

Hong Ling sat in her original spot in a daze, looking somewhat bewildered.

She couldn’t understand why this person didn’t just kill her.

But there was one thing Qi Yu was right about.

If her master found out she had left Evil Valley on her own, in a fit of rage, he would indeed banish her.

With that thought, she hastily got up and hurried back.

Just as she returned to Evil Valley, before she even had the chance to change her clothes, she heard someone outside calling, "Sister Hong Ling, the master wants to see you."

Hong Ling paused, then, without changing her clothes, went to see Liu Wensheng looking somewhat pitiable.

"Hong Ling deserves to die." Upon entering, Hong Ling immediately knelt down, bowed her head, and admitted her mistake, "Please, master, forgive me."

Liu Wensheng was drinking medicine and didn’t even look at her.

Qinrui stood by with her head down, a trace of helplessness flashing through her eyes.

If one had known this would happen, why act as they did initially?

The master had already issued an order that no one was allowed to lay a hand on the Princess.

Hong Ling had already been punished once before, yet, she still hadn’t thought to repent.

Qinrui sighed silently to herself and, reluctantly unable to plead for her, simply stood to the side, waiting for Liu Wensheng to pass judgment.

After handing the medicine bowl to Qinrui, Liu Wensheng cast a cold glance at the person kneeling on the floor, "Since you take my words for the idle wind, from now on, you don’t have to recognize me as your master anymore."

His words were spoken flatly, yet they made Hong Ling tremble all over. A sour taste rose in her throat, and she quickly said, "Master, Hong Ling is willing to accept punishment."

Liu Wensheng scoffed, "My temple is too small, I’m afraid it can’t accommodate such a big Buddha like you."

Hong Ling kowtowed several times in quick succession, a trace of blood seeping out from her forehead, pleading, "Master, no matter what the punishment, Hong Ling is willing to bear it, only begging you not to cast this servant out."

Her voice began to choke, and the sorrowful color in her eyes almost spilled forth.

Qinrui, moved to pity, also knelt down and pleaded along, "Master, Hong Ling was just foolish for a moment, she did not mean to defy your will."

Liu Wensheng looked at the two of them, his gaze sinking.

After a long moment, he finally closed his eyes and said in a deep voice, "Go and accept your punishment, confinement for a year."

Hong Ling was overjoyed, quickly kowtowing and saying, "Thank you, master."

She had thought the master would certainly banish her.

Qinrui, too, quickly wiped away her tears, watching Hong Ling leave before turning to Liu Wensheng with a smile, saying, "Master, surely Hong Ling won’t dare again in the future."

Although Hong Ling was somewhat stubborn, she was not a person who couldn’t tell right from wrong.

Having been punished so heavily, she would definitely not commit such foolish acts again in the future.

Liu Wensheng suddenly opened his eyes and said to Qinrui, "Go to the dungeon and bring that person to me."

Qinrui’s expression instantly became serious. She tightened her grip on the medicine bowl and then slowly said, "Yes, master."

Upon reaching the dungeon, Qinrui opened the cell door and lifted the blood-covered person.

That person’s eyes were filled with a cold chill, warily looking at her and asking, "Who are you?"

Qinrui didn’t answer, instead taking the person to get cleaned up to avoid offending her master with the stench of blood.

After the person was cleaned and had changed into fresh clothes, and seeing half of his face destroyed, Qinrui coldly fixed her eyes on him and said, "Come, my master wants to see you."
