Chapter 233: Chapter 233: Princess Qi, why not guess who these people are?
Qi Yu had stayed in Evil Valley for two days and, apart from being somewhat bored, had noticed nothing amiss.
Song Ting, who was rather carefree, started causing playful havoc in the valley when he realized no one was coming to trouble him.
He turned the usually quiet Evil Valley into a place of incessant noise.
Standing atop Zhaixing Building, Qinrui looked down at Song Ting, who was frolicking amongst the flowers, and frowned slightly. "Master, are we really going to let them break all these flowers and plants?"
She had no fondness for these two.
At first, she thought they would be killed by the master soon, so she didn’t take it to heart.
But two days had passed, and not only had the master not lifted a finger against them, he had also provided them with good food and drink.
He even allowed Song Ting to toy with his favorite plants and flowers.
Normally, those who tended the plants and accidentally broke a leaf would be punished by being forbidden from eating for a day and a night.
Having followed Liu Wensheng for so many years, Qinrui had never seen anything like this.
With a sense of alarm in her heart, she thought for several days but couldn’t fathom her master’s thoughts.
Liu Wensheng was lightly shaking his folding fan, watching the scene below with a serene expression.
He saw the woman lounging on a recliner, avidly flipping through a storybook, occasionally picking up a piece of osmanthus cake with her pale fingertips and eating it, exuding a lazy aura from head to toe.
She looked just like an elegant Persian cat.
He couldn’t quite describe the feeling in his heart.
He had never seen someone like her.
Everyone who entered Evil Valley was invariably terrified, begging on their knees.
To be so relaxed and comfortable was unique to the person before him.
What baffled Liu Wensheng even more was that he should have decisively killed this person that very night.
But even now, he didn’t want to make a move.
It was as if he had been bewitched by her, for every time he looked into her clear, cunning eyes, he would forget all his troubles.
Facing Qinrui’s question, Liu Wensheng looked down in silence.
Even he couldn’t explain his own actions.
But he did not like this feeling.
"Take her to the dungeon," his cold voice commanded, and Qinrui’s eyes lit up as she immediately responded, "Yes."
The dungeon was the bloodiest place in Evil Valley, where just one glance inside was enough to weaken anyone’s knees.
Qinrui couldn’t wait to see the look of terror and fear in Qi Yu’s eyes.
Just as she was about to descend the stairs, she heard Liu Wensheng say, "Knock that child unconscious."
Qinrui paused in her steps, "Yes."
She frowned, puzzled by the unexpected kindness of her master.
In the past, those captured and brought to the valley were invariably cut open and left to die in agony from blood loss.
This time, all they did was take them to see the dungeon, and even a child was spared.
Clutching her doubts, Qinrui knocked Song Ting unconscious, then dragged Qi Yu, still engrossed in her storybook, to the dungeon.
The dungeon was perhaps the most aptly named place in all of Evil Valley.
From a distance, Qi Yu could smell a strong scent of blood.
She furrowed her brows, suddenly sensing a change in the surrounding environment.
It became ominously gloomy; blindfolded, she couldn’t discern where she was, but the intermittent screams were enough to send chills down anyone’s spine.
She had grown too comfortable these past two days and had almost forgotten.
The master of this place was a pervert.
Now, being forcibly taken to this ghostly place, she sensed trouble brewing.
Once inside the dungeon, Qinrui had candles lit, then pulled off the black cloth covering Qi Yu’s eyes. Her tone morbid as she said, "Princess Qi, please."
Having suddenly entered a dark environment, Qi Yu’s eyes struggled to adapt.
She blinked, and when she could finally see the horrific scene in front of her, her legs almost gave way, nearly causing her to fall.
This place was nothing short of a living hell.
Rotten flesh and white bones were piled to one side, with a long road ahead that seemed to have no end.
Within the cells on both sides, there were people, emaciated and with hollow eyes.
They didn’t know how long they had been locked up here; they seemed to have lost all signs of life, appearing deathly still. When looking over, Qi Yu even noticed that some were missing eyeballs.
She was terribly frightened, and at that moment, Qinrui’s smug, chilly voice rang out again, "Why not guess who these people are, Princess?"
Qi Yu was startled by her sudden voice, and subconsciously, her elbow jerked backward.
With that motion, a sharp pain radiated from Qinrui’s ribcage causing her to grunt, and she glared fiercely at the instigator.
Qi Yu touched her nose, "Accident..."
It was her fault for always startling people with her sudden outbursts.
If it weren’t for her master’s orders, Qinrui would have punched her long ago.
Grinding her teeth, Qinrui squeezed out a few words through clenched teeth: "Keep walking."
Qi Yu was reluctant, but with Qinrui urging her from behind, she had no choice but to move forward.
Besides, the dungeon was so narrow, even if she wanted to escape, she couldn’t.
She kept her gaze straight, quietly chanting to herself, It has nothing to do with me, I didn’t capture these people.
After walking for a while, she remembered the words Qinrui had said earlier.
She asked nonchalantly, "Who are all these people locked up here?"
Qinrui chuckled, her tone somewhat playful, "Guess."
After speaking, she seemed to feel a sense of vindication.
Of course, Qi Yu couldn’t guess; she wasn’t Mo Qingshan, who knew the affairs of Jianghu like the back of his hand.
She remained silent, closed her eyes, and continued walking forward.
As she saw the people confined within, who varied greatly in appearance, she could believe that some were actually ghosts.
They didn’t resemble humans at all.
Most were deathly still, huddled in corners.
Some looked eagerly at her, their eyes filled with a glaring desperation.
Some of the restless ones even stretched out their scarred hands trying to grab her, but Qinrui glared them back into submission.
Perhaps it was due to the previous torture they had endured here, these people didn’t dare act out in Qinrui’s presence.
Qi Yu was astounded.
Qinrui, merely in her mid-teens, was already capable of watching these bizarrely shaped "people" without changing her expression and even making them feel frightened.
What exactly was this place?
Who would have thought that beneath a palace, so lush and majestic with flowering plants, there lay such a dungeon.
Ever since stepping through that iron door, everything had started to feel awry.
That thick iron door, like a line dividing yin and yang, separated the same land into two entirely different worlds.
And that eccentric master, what kind of character was he?
Qi Yu pondered deeply, her eyes fixed on the path below, not noticing that she was almost at the end of the corridor.
Just a second before she hit the wall, she was pulled back and staggered a few steps.
Qi Yu, her nerves still frayed, turned to look; the person who pulled her wasn’t Qinrui.
Half of his face was hidden in the darkness, appearing somewhat eerie.
Moreover, what surprised Qi Yu even more was that his face had changed.
