Chapter 225: Chapter 225: Is the Princess of Qi an Actual Living Bodhisattva?
Zhou Ruhai glanced at the sealed room door and saw that there was no movement inside, which somewhat eased his mind.
He hurriedly helped Shen Xiheng up, planning to send him back to his room.
But, as luck would have it, before he could act, he heard a "creak" as the door swung open.
His heart tightened, and when he looked up, he met Shi Zhou’s icy gaze that could freeze someone to death.
Shi Zhou frowned, stepped forward, and snatched the person from Zhou Ruhai’s hands with an icy tone, "Uncle Wu, what have you done now?"
Zhou Ruhai protested his innocence, "I didn’t do anything, he collapsed after just two drinks, who could have expected that?"
Shi Zhou’s brow twitched as she looked at the person who’d passed out from drunkenness and had no time to argue with Zhou Ruhai.
Keeping her patience, she said, "Uncle Wu, please check on my father. I’ll take him back to his room."
After she spoke, she briskly supported the man and walked away.
Zhou Ruhai was speechless and shook his head amusedly, no longer in the mood to drink, and went into the room to watch over the old fellow.
Shi Zhou gently laid the person on the bed, but Shen Xiheng weighed almost as much as two of her, so no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t avoid being overwhelmed by his weight.
As she looked at the handsome face so close to hers, Shi Zhou’s breath hitched, her heartbeat quickened, and her heart nearly leapt out of her chest.
She pushed the person on top of her, but Shen Xiheng simply couldn’t respond to her.
Thus, Shi Zhou had to push him aside, the movement big enough to make the bed board emit a loud noise.
Her cheeks were crimson, and after getting up, the sensation of being limp all over didn’t fade away.
Her entire face was flushed, so hot it seemed like steam might rise from it.
Her hands trembling, she poured herself a cup of tea from the teapot and gulped down several cups before she felt a bit calmer.
But looking at the cup in her hand, she belatedly realized it was the one Shen Xiheng had used.
"Boom—"
Her face turned even redder, resembling a cooked shrimp.
The instigator of it all had long since fallen asleep, completely unaware of the egregious incident he had caused.
It wasn’t until the wee hours of the night that Shi Zhou finally exhaled softly and managed to shake off those embarrassing images from her mind.
She glared at the source of her sleeplessness angrily and went to settle accounts with Zhou Ruhai.
But when she left the room, she still made her movements very light.
The guards outside saw her emerge and kept their eyes fixed straight ahead, their faces straining with effort to hold back.
Not until Shi Zhou’s figure disappeared from their sight did the two standing guard exchange glances, seeing the same astonishment reflected in each other’s eyes.
The young miss was really too fierce!
Unaware of her own crumbling image, Shi Zhou, when she returned to Shi Fuyou’s room, found Zhou Ruhai already asleep on the table.
She sat on the cushion nearby and began to meditate, holding her breath and focusing, trying to calm the disordered True Qi in her heart as if she were practicing her martial arts.
The next morning, when Shen Xiheng woke up, his mind was a blur.
He couldn’t remember at all what had happened the night before.
Stepping out, the guards looked at him with complex expressions, tinged with sympathy.
Looking at the way their young miss had wreaked havoc on him, his eyes were tinged with shades of dark circles.
After breakfast, Shen Xiheng went to find Shi Zhou in Shi Fuyou’s room. On the way, he encountered Zhou Hong and greeted him, then, seeing Zhou Hong’s hurried expression, he asked curiously, "Captain Zhou, where are you rushing off to so early in the morning?"
Zhou Hong had nothing to hide and spoke to him in a low voice, "This morning, the Prince sent word to me that he and the Princess will arrive at Tuyun Village in a couple of days. I thought I’d gather some clues before the Prince arrives."
After speaking, he hurried off.
Shen Xiheng watched his hurried figure and smiled helplessly.
Along the way, the changes in Commander Zhou were not minor. Originally, he was just a martial artist who knew how to fight and kill, but now, he had started to learn the ways of the officialdom.
However, this was not necessarily a bad thing.
Compared to him, a person with no ability to truss a chicken, Zhou Hong’s role was obviously much greater.
Once in the room, a famous doctor whom Zhou Ruhai had summoned from the bottom of the mountain was taking Shi Fuyou’s pulse, while Shi Zhou stood by, furrowing his brows as he watched.
Shen Xiheng did not dare to disturb, and quietly stepped in, waiting until this gray-haired doctor had finished taking the pulse before quietly approaching.
These past few days, Zhou Ruhai had summoned all the famous doctors within a hundred miles, but to no effect.
After their examinations, they all said they couldn’t treat the condition.
As expected, this white-bearded doctor also sighed, "Please forgive my incompetence, I cannot find the root of the illness, nor can I prescribe any medicine."
Having heard this sentence almost to the point of numbness over the past few days, Zhou Ruhai showed no excess emotion. He had the doctor sent down the mountain and rubbed his temples wearily.
Shi Zhou’s lips formed a straight line, and after a long silence, she finally spat out coldly, "Quack doctors, I refuse to believe there is any disease whose cause cannot be found."
Zhou Ruhai glanced at her, wanting to say something, but in the end, just shook his head helplessly.
Shen Xiheng suddenly spoke up, "The Princess will arrive in a couple of days."
Hearing this, Zhou Ruhai was somewhat puzzled.
The Princess of Qi?
What was she coming for?
Just as he was about to scowl, he saw Shi Zhou’s tone suddenly rise in excitement, "Really?"
Zhou Ruhai was taken aback and then heard Shi Zhou breathe a sigh of relief, her tone shifting as she said, "If she comes, then there is hope for my father."
Shen Xiheng also nodded in agreement.
The Princess of Qi could even bring the dead back to life, far beyond what those quack doctors could compare to.
Both of them visibly relaxed, but Zhou Ruhai was still confused.
"Why are you so happy? Could it be that the Princess of Qi is some kind of living Bodhisattva?"
What was meant as a jest, upon Shi Zhou’s hearing, led to her nodding affirmatively, "She is a living Bodhisattva!"
Now, Zhou Ruhai was genuinely curious.
He really wanted to see what kind of skills this Princess of Qi had.
Why else would his young miss be so radiant and joyful at the mere mention of her?
However, being a man of few words, he suppressed his curiosity and went out to take care of other matters.
After all, they would meet her in a couple of days. There was no need to be anxious.
Right now, Tuyun Village still had elixirs that could save lives, so Shi Fuyou wouldn’t encounter any critical problems for the moment.
Zhou Ruhai suddenly felt as if the enormous stone on his chest had loosened, the more he thought about it, the more baffling it became.
Was the Princess of Qi really a reincarnation of a Bodhisattva?
Otherwise, why would Shi Zhou, who had seemed so disheartened, suddenly become happy upon hearing she would come?
Inside the room, while Zhou Ruhai was present, Shi Zhou did not feel anything peculiar.
But as soon as he left, just her and Shen Xiheng remaining, all those memories that made one’s face turn red and heart race from the previous night came rushing back.
Shi Zhou shifted her gaze away, pretending to be calm as she poured herself a cup of tea, and even poured one for Shen Xiheng.
As she handed it over, their hands briefly touched, causing Shi Zhou’s ears to turn red again.
After observing for a while, Shen Xiheng could not help asking, "What’s wrong with you today?"
