Chapter 953 - : Performed Very Well

Chapter 953: 953 Chapter: Performed Very Well

"I didn’t expect to be recognized even with a mask on." Xue Wang was very displeased, while Lord Xiong stepped forward, giving the hooded swordsman a cold glance, "It seems that the matter of the Western vampires has already spread throughout the Martial Arts world. Xue Wang, you’ll have to be even more cautious from now on."

Gu Fan, however, said, "It’s fine. Now, only these few people know of Xue Wang’s whereabouts. Let’s take care of them, and that’ll be the end of it."

Upon hearing this, Xue Wang was somewhat surprised. It was the first time he had heard Gu Fan taking the initiative to propose dealing with someone. It seemed this young man wasn’t entirely kind-hearted after all.

The hooded swordsman turned to run, and the other bandits, seeing the bad turn of events, also scattered.

"Don’t let them escape. Pursue them separately." Xue Wang went after the hooded swordsman, while Lord Xiong and Gu Fan chased after the other bandits.

A while later, Xue Wang returned dragging the body of the hooded swordsman. Similarly, Lord Xiong returned dragging the bodies of four bandits. Upon reconvening, they counted and found that one bandit was missing.

If a single bandit escaped, it would be the same as exposing the whereabouts of the Xue Clan, which would be troublesome indeed.

Just as Xue Wang and Lord Xiong were worrying, Gu Fan returned, dragging the body of the last bandit, without a trace of tension on his face, as if he did not care at all.

Xue Wang glanced at him, somewhat disbelieving, "Kid, did you really do this?"

Gu Fan nodded, "Yes, although I dislike killing, there’s no other choice now. I had to do it just this once."

Lord Xiong furrowed his brows, observing the blade in Gu Fan’s hand and the blood on it, and wondered if perhaps this young man only seemed kind-hearted but actually had a ruthless side.

No matter what, the whereabouts of Xue Wang and his allies were not exposed this time, thanks to Gu Fan. And Gu Fan had decisively killed the bandits, which made Xue Wang look at him in a new light.

"All right, after such a long commotion, let’s hurry back before we’re discovered." Xue Wang said and started walking back.

Gu Fan followed closely behind Xue Wang as if he had firmly decided to stick with Xue Wang.

Lord Xiong walked behind, still watching Gu Fan’s back. He felt there was something off but couldn’t quite pinpoint what was wrong.

When the three returned to their residence, they found the others waiting anxiously, especially Mo Yun, who sighed with relief upon seeing Gu Fan alive, "How did it go? Are you all right?"

"I’m fine, thanks to Xue Wang and Lord Xiong’s rescue, or I would have died at the hands of those bandits," said Gu Fan with a sigh of relief, his expression one of a burden lifted.

After the others learned what had happened, they were surprised that among the bandits there was a skilled fighter like the hooded swordsman. But no matter how formidable he was, he was no match for Xue Wang and Lord Xiong.

Mo Yun thought so too, and even in her eyes, the alliance of Xue Wang and Lord Xiong was invincible.

However, Gu Fan had sustained some injuries and was covered in blood, so Mo Yun took him to treat his wounds and to change into fresh clothes.

As Xue Wang and Lord Xiong watched Gu Fan enter the house, interest in him sparked within them.

"Lord Xiong, what do you think? Should I trust this kid now?" Xue Wang was still somewhat concerned but had no reason to suspect Gu Fan any longer.

Lord Xiong frowned slightly, "If this young man really wanted to harm the Xue Clan, he wouldn’t have had to do anything. He could just have waited for the bandits to find this place and you all. Tonight he led the bandits away, so you didn’t expose your whereabouts."

Xue Wang nodded, "Right, if he truly intended to target us, he could have let that bandit escape to announce it to the world."

"Maybe this young man is protecting the Xue Clan’s whereabouts simply in hopes of using you all to find immortality," Lord Xiong’s rationale held merit, and after mulling it over, Xue Wang then asked another question, "In your opinion, Lord Xiong, can I trust this young man?"

"It depends on what you mean by trust. If you, Xue Wang, want to believe that this young man is entirely loyal to the Xue Clan, then perhaps you should not. But", if you believe him to be on your side, then he is trustworthy," Lord Xiong’s words trickled into Xue Wang’s ears, offering guidance for his decision-making.

In the end, Xue Wang made his decision, "Very well, it seems this kid can be trusted for now, so I won’t be in a rush to get rid of him. Let’s see how things go," said Xue Wang before he turned and walked away, returning to his own room.

The empty courtyard was left with only Lord Xiong, who still felt that something was not quite right. Tonight, Xue Wang had intended to deal with Gu Fan, not feeling secure with such a person close by.

Unexpectedly, the arrival of a group of bandits tonight disrupted Xue Wang’s plan and gave Gu Fan a chance to prove his allegiance to the Xue Clan, which dispelled Xue Wang’s intention to kill Gu Fan.

"How should I put this, you’ve got some serious luck, kid," Lord Xiong quickly dismissed the thought. Perhaps Gu Fan was lucky to get the chance to prove himself at the critical moment, but it was an opportunity that appeared abruptly, which Gu Fan managed to seize and utilize successfully without any preparation.

From this, it was evident that Gu Fan’s ability to adapt and seize fleeting opportunities came from his courage, intelligence, bravery, and decisiveness.

"Impressive, young man. Just what is your background?" After analyzing Gu Fan, Lord Xiong grew increasingly aware of his exceptional nature and did not believe Gu Fan was merely a minor character from the Devil Cult.

Lord Xiong thought further and decided he might be overthinking it. Currently, many potential talents went unrecognized, their skills and genius buried. Perhaps Gu Fan was just such an individual.

"Wait a second, it seems to have quieted down outside." Lord Xiong noted the diminishing hubbub outside, with the sounds of shouting and fighting ceasing as well.

Sensing that something was amiss, Lord Xiong immediately rushed out to see what was happening. He discovered that many townspeople and a few bandits were lying in the streets. The locals had suffered horribly from the bandit raid.

Walking on, Lord Xiong noticed that the doors of the town’s residences had been smashed open, yet the townspeople were unharmed, and their wealth seemed untouched. According to the residents, just as the bandits were about to break in and loot, they suddenly received an order and withdrew.
