Chapter 922: Chapter 922 Unreasonable

Gu Fan didn’t run far but found a nearby inn to take shelter in. He couldn’t believe that his luck would be so bad to encounter Qian Feng and her companions a third time in this small city.

Fortunately, Gu Fan’s luck had truly changed this time; he didn’t run into them and promptly removed his mask, breathing freely and sighing in relief at the removal of the cursed thing, wondering what sort of mentality those people in the Martial Arts world possessed to wear such a thing.

Now that he had finally shaken off Qian Feng and her group, Gu Fan started considering how to use the limited information to find Lin Xi. If Lin Xi’s identity was indeed Qian Ye, and if Qian Ye and Jian Shen’s clues were connected, then all Gu Fan had to do was inquire about Jian Shen’s whereabouts.

"Martial Arts Competition? Worth a visit?" Gu Fan found a direction to search in, but he didn’t rush into action, as there were several exceedingly formidable women in this small town.

So Gu Fan waited for five whole days, thinking it safer. Then he stepped out of the inn, hired a carriage, and headed towards the site of the Martial Arts Competition.

After three days’ journey, Gu Fan finally arrived at the site of the Martial Arts Competition, noticing that despite the cleanup, one could still smell hints of bloodshed—a testament to the previous brutal fighting.

Gu Fan approached a nearby person for information, but they said that among those who had participated in the fight between the Martial Arts alliance and the Devil Cult, seemingly only Jian Shen and Qian Ye survived. That is to say, nobody knew what exactly had transpired that day, nor did anyone know where Jian Shen and Qian Ye had gone.

However, Gu Fan was curious about one thing: during the cleanup, some Western faces were discovered. They looked like the Western vampires Jian Shen had mentioned, which suggested that these vampires had bolstered the strength of the Devil Cult.

The Western vampires allying with the Devil Cult to launch an assault on the Martial Arts fighters, leading both sides to mutual destruction, was the speculation of most people.

When Gu Fan heard that Western vampires had also gotten involved, he was utterly bewildered, wondering how he could encounter Western vampires after having traveled back to ancient times. What was that about?

Since there were no leads here, Gu Fan decided to leave, but as he turned to go, he caught sight of a coldly beautiful woman, momentarily dazzled by her beauty.

This expressionless beauty ignored Gu Fan, walking straight past him. Then, with a flick of her whip, she ensnared a man by the neck.

After watching, Gu Fan’s heart began to pound anxiously; he mused on his luck—the possibility of encountering such Martial Arts grudges—and he had no intention of intervening.

"Mercy, heroine?" the man begged on his knees.

The woman coldly asked, "Where did you bury the Devil Incarnate?"

Hearing this, the kneeling man immediately guessed the woman’s identity, "You’re looking for the Devil Incarnate? Could you be Mo Yun from the Devil Cult?"

Mo Yun, running out of patience, tightened the whip, "Cut the nonsense. You cleaned up this place, and you buried the Devil Incarnate. Tell me quickly."

"Alright, alright, I’ll tell you right now," the man pointed in a direction. After glancing in the pointed direction, Mo Yun frowned, retracted her whip, and quickly walked away.

Watching Mo Yun’s graceful retreating figure, Gu Fan fell deep into thought, wondering if this might be fate’s arrangement. Since the encounter had happened, he might as well try his luck. Thus, Gu Fan decided to follow.

By the time Gu Fan reached the back mountain, he saw Mo Yun forcing a few people to dig in the earth, and then they unearthed the ash-grey figure of the Devil Incarnate, still with a wooden spike embedded in his chest.

It was only then that Mo Yun was willing to accept reality, and immediately, she became very annoyed and told everyone to scram.

It was clear to everyone that Mo Yun was in a bad mood, and no one dared to provoke this madam. Thus, they scattered and ran far away, while Gu Fan hid behind a tree, staring intently at Mo Yun.

"Who is it?" Mo Yun was also an expert, and she quickly detected someone spying nearby.

Gu Fan immediately stepped out, his smile friendly, "Don’t misunderstand, I’m not here to cause trouble. I just want to know what exactly happened that day."

Mo Yun was very disdainful toward Gu Fan, and retorted with a question, "Judging by your attire, you’re also a Martial Arts world person, so why didn’t you die in battle here that day?"

"That’s quite a thing to say. If all Martial Arts world people had to die here, then the entire Martial Arts world would be extinct. Besides, you’re from the Devil Cult, and aren’t you alive and well?" Gu Fan’s words were logical, but they were particularly grating to Mo Yun’s ears.

That day, to be on the safe side, the Devil Incarnate had Mo Yun stay behind to guard the Devil Cult. Although Mo Yun thought the Devil Incarnate was invincible and nothing would happen, she did not expect the battle to be so tragic.

Seeing Mo Yun in a daze, Gu Fan approached for a closer look, clearly recognized the figure of the Devil Incarnate, and then Gu Fan looked at the other unearthed graves - they really were Western vampires.

"No matter. Let’s not dwell on that." Gu Fan began searching the bodies of these Western vampires, looking for something. Mo Yun, seeing Gu Fan’s actions, immediately felt that he was no ordinary person, and asked, "What are you looking for?"

"Checking if they have anything valuable on them." As a result, Gu Fan pulled out a notebook and a map from one of the Western vampires. This surprised Mo Yun, who felt it must be something very important.

This was an important find, and just as Gu Fan was about to pocket the items, a whip lashed out at his foot, startling him so much he nearly jumped three feet high. The sound, as well as the small pit at his feet, were reminders not to provoke further.

Gu Fan was angry, "What are you doing, woman?"

Mo Yun’s face was stern, clearly in a bad mood, "Give me the items."

Gu Fan quickly understood, then held out the map in one hand and the notebook in the other, "You want these two things?"

"No kidding, hand them over, or don’t blame me for being rude." Mo Yun was very domineering, and while Gu Fan knew he couldn’t defeat such a Martial Arts expert, he couldn’t give up the hard-earned notebook and map either.

So Gu Fan had an idea, "You see, I found them, right? But, without your help, I wouldn’t have found them, so how about this - I have a great suggestion. We each take one, and borrow from each other, how does that sound?"

In response to Gu Fan, another whip lashed out, this time breaking a small tree next to him - Mo Yun was using this whip to reject Gu Fan’s proposal.

Gu Fan was dumbfounded and knew that if he didn’t comply, he would end up like the tree. He couldn’t help but sigh, "Oh my god, weren’t ancient women supposed to embody ’Three Obediences and Four Virtues’? How are they more violent than modern women? If Sister Su learns this move, how am I to live my days?"
