Chapter 907: 907

The seven days were coming up quickly, and Gu Fan’s plan was to personally travel to ancient times, find Lin Xi, and then bring her back.

But this plan was risky, and there was a chance Gu Fan could get lost in ancient times as well, so Su Hui and Gu Ling opposed it. However, Gu Fan was adamant, having long determined that Lin Xi was his wife, believing it his duty as a man to protect his woman.

Seeing his determination, Su Hui and Gu Ling knew they couldn’t stop him and only hoped that Gu Fan would be careful in his actions. Su Hui even wanted to accompany Gu Fan to ancient times.

But Gu Fan refused Su Hui’s kind offer for two simple reasons. First, adding another person would require more time for preparations, perhaps even significantly more, and second, Su Hui needed to help Gu Fan guard the space-time door, to avoid the scenario where after finding Lin Xi, they’d find the space-time door no longer open for them.

So, everyone took action separately. Su Hui and Gu Ling went to the supermarket to purchase lots of food and water, to buy some gold for use as currency in ancient times, and to prepare weapons like daggers.

Meanwhile, Gu Fan did some research online to figure out what people wore in Qian Ye’s era, and then he went to a costume rental place and personally picked out an appropriate ancient costume.

It was Gu Fan’s first time wearing ancient attire. He studied himself in the mirror and felt as though something was missing—he didn’t look like someone from ancient times at all, since no one back then had such a short haircut.

After paying, Gu Fan left the costume shop. He had only walked a little way when he happened to run into Ning Qi. They crossed paths, and Gu Fan walked straight past her without so much as a glance.

"Hey, Gu Fan?" Ning Qi followed, radiating enthusiasm, "What a coincidence to see you here."

"Yeah, adversaries are bound to meet on a narrow road, right?" Gu Fan said with a grim face, striding ahead, trying to shake off Ning Qi. Meanwhile, he shifted the bag containing the clothes to his other hand, away from Ning Qi.

Ning Qi noticed this subtle movement and speculated that there might be something in the bag. Her curiosity piqued, she tried to sneak a peek, but Gu Fan guarded it well and didn’t let her see.

"Hey, Gu Fan, why are you walking so fast?" Ning Qi barely caught up only to see Gu Fan quicken his pace, looking as though he didn’t want to have anything to do with her, "I’m rather unhappy with your Shennv Xuanhui right now. I believe you can understand why."

Ning Qi’s brows furrowed, "Wait a minute, this was decided by Sister Qian Ye and Qian Feng, I have no control over it. If I had a choice, I definitely wouldn’t be your enemy, so you can’t blame that incident on me." Though she spoke these words, Ning Qi was still curious—what was in Gu Fan’s bag? It looked like clothing?

This made Ning Qi very puzzled. With Lin Xi trapped in ancient times, Gu Fan’s mood should be terrible. So, why would he have the time to go shopping for clothes?

From start to finish, Gu Fan hardly paid any attention to Ning Qi, not even sparing her a second glance, and very much wanting to distance himself from this woman.

This irritated Ning Qi. After all, she was a beauty, and there were plenty of men pursuing her. She had never been so coldly disregarded by a man before.

Gu Fan didn’t want to linger around Ning Qi, fearing she might notice something amiss. So, he quickened his pace and gradually put distance between them, eventually disappearing into the crowd.

Ning Qi huffed, "Gu Fan, I will make you regret this."

Intuition told Ning Qi that Gu Fan’s haste to get away wasn’t due to a bad mood but rather because he was avoiding something. And the key laid within the mystery hidden in that bag of clothes.

Therefore, Ning Qi returned to the place where she had previously encountered Gu Fan, and after searching the surrounding area, she found several clothing stores. Ning Qi thought that it was not practical to ask each store one by one, as it would take too much time.

She turned on her phone and searched for nearby clothing stores. She discovered that one of them, which rented out ancient costumes, piqued her curiosity, and this store was very close to where she had met Gu Fan.

"Interesting, it’s you," Ning Qi muttered as she headed to the ancient costume store. As soon as she entered, she showed a picture of Gu Fan and asked, "Hello, boss, has this man been here before?"

The store owner hesitated for a moment, unsure of Ning Qi’s intentions and why she was inquiring about a customer’s information.

Seeing the owner’s hesitation, Ning Qi quickly handed over some money and said with a smile, "Don’t worry, boss, I’m not a bad person. You just need to tell me what this man was here for; the rest has nothing to do with you."

A moment later, Ning Qi walked out of the ancient costume store, a hint of triumph in her smile, "Oh Gu Fan, what are you up to? Don’t think I have no clue. Sister Qian Ye is worried for good reason; indeed, I shouldn’t take you lightly."

As soon as Ning Qi recalled Gu Fan’s attitude towards her, combined with their past grievances, she felt it was time to settle the score. Therefore, she called Qian Ye and informed her of Gu Fan’s whereabouts.

Half an hour later, Gu Fan returned home, feeling restless. He took out the ancient costume, which had a piece of paper tucked inside containing the clothing store owner’s phone number.

Gu Fan knew Ning Qi was shrewd and wouldn’t be easily fooled, especially since she had noticed the clothes in his bag.

Gu Fan then called the clothing store’s owner and asked him if a woman had come inquiring about his whereabouts after he had left.

"Alright, I understand, thank you!" After hanging up, Gu Fan couldn’t help but sigh, just as Su Hui and Gu Ling came over and, seeing his solemn expression, realized things might not be going smoothly.

Gu Fan shook his head, "Our luck is terrible. Ning Qi knows I rented an ancient costume, and I’m sure she will tell Qian Ye, who will guess that I’m going to the ancient times."

"If you are going to the ancient times, then it means the space-time door is complete. Qian Ye will definitely not allow that to happen," Su Hui said worriedly, feeling the need to act immediately.

"Yes, we must leave right away. Although some things are not fully prepared, but..." Gu Fan clenched his teeth, then picked up all his belongings, big and small, ready to flee.

Just then, Helen arrived. She saw Gu Fan, Su Hui, and Gu Ling rushing around, cramming things into the trunk of the car, looking like they were headed for a long journey, which puzzled Helen.

"Gu Fan, Xiaoling, and Sister Su, where are you all going?" Helen asked while running over to them, but no one paid her any attention.

Getting anxious, Helen said, "Wait a minute. Can you at least tell me where you are going and what for?"

"If there’s a chance, I’ll tell you, but I’m really busy right now. Please, do me a favor and step aside. I would be very grateful," Gu Fan replied without any patience as he walked past Helen.
