Chapter 894: Chapter 894: Who Exactly Has a Problem?

Su Hui had just gotten home when she saw Gu Fan’s impatient demeanor, "So, how did it go, Sister Su? Did you take the photo? What does the person Jie and Lu Yi like look like? I had no idea they’d both fall for the same type, so are they in competition now?"

After hearing so many questions, Su Hui rolled her eyes, "Please, Gu Fan, can you not gossip like a woman?"

"This isn’t gossiping, it’s curiosity," Gu Fan retorted, "Put yourself in my shoes for a moment. My two best friends have fallen for the same girl, turning from friends to competitors. What if they end up unhappy with each other? I need to be prepared to mediate, right?" As he spoke, Gu Fan became more excited, seemingly eager for Lu Yi and Jie to compete over the same girl, so he could enjoy the show.

Of course, Gu Fan believed in Lu Yi and Jie, confident that this kind of competition wouldn’t ruin their friendship, bound by life and death, so easily.

Soothingly, Su Hui advised, "Alright, don’t worry about them. You should be more concerned about yourself. Have you thought of any good plans yet?"

"Plans? I’ve got nothing so far," Gu Fan shrugged, looking out of options.

Su Hui gestured around, signalling to be wary of eavesdropping devices. Gu Fan indicated there was no need to worry because he had just done a thorough cleanup, a very meticulous one, which made Helen very nervous. Then, Helen offered to help with the cleaning.

Su Hui understood; Helen was probably worried about you finding the listening devices during the cleanup, so she came to help, discreetly retrieving them.

Gu Fan nodded; he had thoroughly inspected everything and was certain there were no eavesdropping devices left, which is why he dared to speak freely with Su Hui.

Suddenly, the sound of a car stopping at the door was heard, and Gu Fan immediately feigned a sulky demeanor. Then, he patiently waited for Helen’s arrival before greeting her listlessly.

Helen responded briefly and then went upstairs.

Observing the event, Su Hui inwardly praised Gu Fan’s improved acting skills—the downcast demeanor, the troubled expression, one would truly believe Gu Fan was in a bad mood because of the destruction of the space-time door.

Gu Fan added, "When I was cleaning, I purposely acted agitated, as if I had completely lost it, as if I were cleaning to divert my attention."

In agreement, Su Hui nodded, "With the space-time door destroyed and Lin Xi unable to return, your decision to clean might raise suspicions. By pretending to use cleaning as an outlet for your frustration, you masked any flaws well and forced Helen to take back the listening device."

"Yes, to seem genuine, I even ran several laps outside, as if I were running off my frustrations, before starting the cleaning." After saying this, Gu Fan smiled slightly, clearly pleased with his own acting prowess.

After hearing this, Su Hui couldn’t help but give him a thumbs up. Gu Fan, you’re impressive.

However, there was one thing Su Hui didn’t understand: "Gu Fan, do you think Helen has realized something? Logically, with the space-time door gone, she has no reason to stay close to you, so why hasn’t she left?"

This remark sparked a thought in Gu Fan, prompting him to consider carefully, "I’ve thought about this as well. Either Helen knows the truth, knowing that the space-time door isn’t destroyed, or she sees some other value in me."

"Given how destitute you look, what other value could you possibly have?" After saying this, Su Hui made a face of disdain.

Gu Fan’s expression became solemn, "Don’t forget, Sister Su, there must be a reason Helen isn’t leaving. If there’s nothing valuable about me to keep her here, then what else here could be worth her interest?"

Upon hearing this, Su Hui’s expression shifted subtly, "The old house? The Destiny Stone?"

Gu Fan nodded, "Exactly. Helen knows some secrets about the old house that even I’m unaware of. This is one of the reasons I suspect she’s so determined to stay."

"My goodness, if she’s really after the old house, after the Destiny Stone, but how would she know about it?" The confusion in Su Hui’s voice mirrored Gu Fan’s own uncertainty.

Not many knew about the Destiny Stone, and of the six families who once lived here—big bosses, Qian Feng, Lu Yi—they all could have potentially leaked information.

Shaking her head, Su Hui speculated, "During the incident at the Triangle Sea Area, Qiao Ya and his people found out about you and the Destiny Stone. Maybe they went back and informed Organization X, who then told Helen to get close to you, to figure out what the Destiny Stone really is."

"I’ve considered that, but it doesn’t explain Helen’s familiarity with the old house," Gu Fan pondered, furrowing his brow deeply.

Starting to use the process of elimination, Su Hui said, "That familiarity with the old house should only belong to the six families from before. First, we can rule out your family, and with Uncle Zhang and your family’s good relationship, the Zhang Family is unlikely. The Zhu Family has sided with big bosses and is even less likely, the Lei and Luo Families are businesspeople, they might have had dealings with Organization X in the business world, and then there’s Liu Yao, who was once engaged to you."

"Why do you always bring up the arranged engagement with Liu Yao when you mention her?" Gu Fan said wryly, then added, "And I haven’t seen Yuan Cheng and Liu Yao recently either; I wonder how they’re doing?"

Confirming, Su Hui said, "Yuan Cheng and Liu Yao’s usual circle has basically crumbled, and since their former circle was built around the big boss, it’s unlikely they’re linked to Organization X. That leaves the Lei and Luo Families."

Gu Fan focused his thoughts on the Lei and Luo Families. Suddenly, he remembered that Boss Lei’s financial partner appeared to be a fund company named X.

"No way, could it be?" Gu Fan began to suspect that X Fund Company was a front for Organization X, and Boss Lei had been colluding with them all along.

This was serious. If Boss Lei truly had aligned with the organization, it would pose a danger for Gu Fan since Du Jun and Boss Ding’s company needed Boss Lei’s resources. Offending Boss Lei could lead to a resource cutoff, inflicting significant losses on Du Jun’s company.

Bearing in mind that it was Gu Fan who had urged Du Jun and Boss Ding to start the company, if he acted now, it would be like he was betraying Du Jun.

"Oh my god, how could things have turned out this way." Gu Fan felt troubled, silently praying that Boss Lei had nothing to do with this situation or Organization X.

Seeing Gu Fan’s imploring look, Su Hui exhaled, "It looks like you’re hoping there’s a problem on Boss Luo’s side?"
