Chapter 884: Chapter 884: It’s Your Ex-Girlfriend Again
Gu Fan looked at Helen for a long while, then sighed and shook his head, "Impossible, my dad would never cheat on my mom with a foreign girl. His foreign language skills are terrible; he couldn’t possibly have given me a sister with blonde hair and blue eyes."
Upon hearing this, Helen was so infuriated she nearly fainted, "Get out, get out of a girl’s room!"
Helen was truly beside herself with anger. She threw whatever she saw, regardless of whether it was appropriate or not, all at Gu Fan, driving him out and added, "Listen up, I won’t move out. I have every right to live here in peace, and without me, you would never have had the chance to move into this old house."
"What a mess, this is my family’s old house. What does my living here have to do with you?" Gu Fan was also bewildered as he walked downstairs, just in time to see two people eavesdropping at the stairwell.
"Oh no, we’ve been discovered!" Su Hui and Gu Ling immediately ran back to the sofa, pretending as if nothing had happened, and continued discussing skincare products.
Seeing these unsympathetic people, Gu Fan was almost choked with rage. Now that Helen refused to move out and forcibly evicting her would seem like bullying, he had to think of a solution.
Just then, a neighbor came to protest, saying Gu Fan’s place was too noisy and that he should keep it down. And of all the houses in recent years, Gu Fan’s had been the loudest. They also criticized him, complaining that young people like him lacked public spirit.
Gu Fan apologized, but he felt aggrieved inside. He hadn’t done anything wrong, yet he was being blamed for everything.
Turning around, Gu Fan saw Gu Ling and Su Hui chatting and laughing. He disdainfully said, "Xiaoling, I’ve been thinking, with so much happening lately, it’s better you move back in with your parents."
"I don’t want to. I have just as much freedom as you to choose whether I want to live in this old house or not," Gu Ling retorted with a humph, her face clearly indicating that there was no way he could make her leave.
Gu Fan glanced at Su Hui again, and Su Hui returned a defiant look, making Gu Fan swallow back any words about moving out he was about to say.
"Fine, fine, you’re all so tough. None of you will move out, then let’s leave it that way," Gu Fan suddenly had the feeling that there were more and more women in the house and his status was getting lower. Life was really not going well.
Having no other option, Gu Fan decided to leave this troublesome place for a while, to take a walk and clear his head.
Just as Gu Fan had reached the street, suddenly a car drove up and stopped beside him. The model, the color, the license plate number were all familiar.
But as the window rolled down, revealing a pretty face and delicate short hair, Leng Le smiled at Gu Fan, "What’s wrong, ex-boyfriend? You look so glum. Did a woman give you a hard time again? Get in, I’ll provide you with some psychological counseling."
The timing of Leng Le’s arrival made Gu Fan knit his brows. So he said, "Leng Le, if you’ve come to pick a fight, I advise you, today’s not the day. I have already suffered enough at the hands of women."
"Don’t worry, I’m not here to make things worse. The boss sent me to find you," Leng Le replied, and she even proactively opened the car door for him in a welcoming gesture.
"The big boss?" Gu Fan was curious, so he got into the passenger seat to see what Leng Le was up to.
As Leng Le started the car and began to drive, she asked, "I heard you’ve run into some new trouble. Qian Ye has defected, and Shennv Xuanhui is targeting you guys again."
"Yeah, I’ve made my bed; now I have to lie in it. It’s all my fault," Gu Fan sighed, then glanced at Leng Le and added another sentence, "If you’re here to gloat, please stop the car right now."
"Gloat? Do you really think I’m that kind of person?" Leng Le gave a slight smile, her eyes filled with sincerity, making her seem as though she genuinely wasn’t that type.
Gu Fan furrowed his brow, "Then may I ask, what is your business with me?"
"I heard that the space-time door has been destroyed, Lin Xi can’t come back from the ancient times, which means you’re effectively single again, so I’m here to see if we can get back together." After speaking, Leng Le’s lips curved upward, showing a hint of enthusiasm.
Gu Fan looked at Leng Le in surprise, trying to see if she was serious.
Suddenly, Leng Le burst into laughter, "Gu Fan, look how scared you are. You didn’t really think I came here to get back together with you, did you?"
"Ah~" Gu Fan’s expression was somewhat embarrassed.
Leng Le immediately switched topics, "Alright, back to business, the big boss wants to know more about the vampires, and as you know the big boss hates vampires the most, or to be exact, he hates immortality, so he plans to eliminate the vampires."
"Is that so? Then please thank the big boss for me, thank him for doing a good deed for our city," Gu Fan recounted his encounter with the vampires in the abandoned warehouse, explaining how they could turn ordinary people into vampires through certain means, which was utterly despicable.
Leng Le nodded, "Although sometimes our positions are not aligned, we agree on one thing: this is our city. We will not allow those outsiders to cause trouble, so the boss means for me to reach out to you so we can work together to drive these vampires out of our home."
Gu Fan nodded, but there was concern, "These vampires are backed by Organization X. I still don’t know the full extent of this organization, but I do know it’s tough to deal with."
"Don’t worry, with the big boss, and in alliance with Zhuo Hang, with Qian Feng, with Shennv Xuanhui, I don’t believe they would be hard to handle," Leng Le listed an impressive lineup. The names alone were enough to inspire confidence, but Gu Fan felt averse, especially towards Qian Feng and Shennv Xuanhui.
"By the way, when you just said you came to get back with me, were you serious?" Gu Fan suddenly dropped this question, and seemed quite earnest, suddenly catching Leng Le off guard.
Suddenly Gu Fan laughed, "I was just asking." Having said that, Gu Fan acted as if nothing had happened.
Leng Le replied, "Oh," her face calm but with a ripple of emotion within.
In fact, whenever Gu Fan and Leng Le talked about getting back together, it was all in jest. Both knew that it was impossible for them to reunite. But every time they met, no matter how unpleasant or mutual their disdain, the moment they saw each other, the fond memories from the past couldn’t help but surface in their minds.
Wait a second, Gu Fan suddenly remembered something. If the big boss were to target the vampires and Organization X now, not to mention what consequences the conflict might bring, Helen was sure to be in trouble.
For some reason, Gu Fan didn’t want anything to happen to Helen now. He felt perhaps there could be a breakthrough with Helen’s help, a chance to have a proper discussion with Organization X. They might not have to go to war after all.
