Chapter 882: Chapter 882: Issuing an Expulsion Order

The space-time door was destroyed, and Qian Ye would no longer target Gu Fan, nor would Organization X bother him anymore. This was exactly what Gu Fan wanted; he hoped that the space-time door would be destroyed by Qian Ye during that conflict.

Of course, what was destroyed was not the real space-time door, but a replica. Jie, who worked in a factory, created a hollow copy overnight based on the blueprints given to him by Gu Fan.

To make it realistic, they even placed some old circuit boards inside the replica to at least fool Qian Ye for a while.

Gu Fan considered that being discovered using a fake to exchange for Gu Ling would enrage Qian Ye, putting Gu Ling in danger. Therefore, involving Organization X was an integral part of his plan.

With Qian Ye and Organization X fighting fiercely over the space-time door, they were too preoccupied to verify its authenticity. Then, by letting Qian Ye destroy the space-time door, everyone would believe the space-time door no longer existed in this world, significantly reducing the pressure on Gu Fan.

Su Hui only learned about Gu Fan’s real plan later on and, furious, she beat Gu Fan up for not sharing the plan earlier, causing her unnecessary worry. She felt it was clear he didn’t trust her acting skills.

Gu Fan took the beating for no reason and felt irritated because he thought Su Hui was just looking for a pretext. She just wanted to fight, to bully him for a bit, Gu Fan protested in his mind, but he didn’t dare resist and silently endured the beating.

Now that the space-time door had been destroyed, Qian Feng let Gu Ling go home but refused Gu Ling’s request to leave Shennv Xuanhui. The rules were clear: Shennv Xuanhui hadn’t hurt Gu Ling or her family members, so Gu Ling had no reason to leave.

But Gu Ling felt that Shennv Xuanhui had harmed her future sister-in-law Lin Xi by destroying the space-time door, so she believed she had sufficient reason to leave.

Qian Feng argued this point: Qian Ye was Lin Xi, and Lin Xi was Qian Ye. One had to choose between the two; either Qian Ye or Lin Xi would be hurt. Shennv Xuanhui was in a difficult position and could at most compensate Gu Ling with Qian Ye as her sister-in-law. After all, Qian Ye and Lin Xi looked exactly alike, and it would be no loss to Gu Fan.

This was absurd. Gu Ling could not accept Qian Ye as a substitute for Lin Xi and didn’t want to argue with Qian Feng any longer. She rushed home to check on Gu Fan’s condition.

To alleviate Gu Ling’s guilt, Gu Fan revealed the truth, immediately filling her with joy. The space-time door had not been destroyed, meaning there was still hope to reunite with Lin Xi.

Indeed, according to David’s estimate, the space-time door could be opened in a year, so the key was to survive this year.

Gu Fan requested that everyone keep a low profile in this year to avoid drawing attention. He didn’t plan on seeing David either because firstly, he didn’t want to disturb David’s work, and secondly, he didn’t want to draw enemies to David.

Worried, Su Hui asked, "Gu Fan, how many people know the space-time door hasn’t been destroyed?"

Gu Fan held up five fingers: himself, Su Hui, Gu Ling, his best friend Lu Yi, and Jie, the one who helped make the space-time door replica.

Su Hui expressed another concern: "But with David still alive, would Qian Ye be at ease?"

Gu Fan frowned deeply: "Yes, that’s what I’m worried about too. With Qian Ye’s personality, she’ll make sure there’s no possibility of failure. If we can convince her that it’s impossible to complete the space-time door with just David’s power, then maybe she’ll let him go."

"So what should we do?" asked Su Hui. After giving Gu Ling a look and then shaking her head with a wry smile, she said, "Since Qian Feng let Xiaoling go, she won’t try to force you to hand over David by detaining Xiaoling again."

To that, Gu Fan nodded: "Last time, Feng explicitly stated she wouldn’t harm Xiaoling. But with Qian Ye, you never know. We still have to be on our guard."

"Qian Ye wouldn’t dare to go against Sister Qian Feng’s will, but I still feel Sister Qian Feng was unfair to me, so I won’t go there to practice for a while," Gu Ling said, still pissed off about the recent treatment.

Gu Fan also felt it would be better for Xiaoling not to go for now. Since the destruction of the space-time door involved Qian Feng, it was reasonable for Xiaoling to be upset with her, and it made sense for her to avoid practicing with Qian Feng because of her anger. Conversely, if she behaved as if nothing had happened, it would raise Qian Ye’s suspicions.

Out of nowhere, Su Hui made a joke: "If Qian Ye and Helen knew you tricked them, they would be very angry. Gu Fan, you’ve managed to provoke two women at once."

"Yeah, brother, you even calculated Helen into your plan," Xiaoling said with a giggly face, as if anticipating a good show.

Scratching his head, Gu Fan replied, "I had no choice. Helen insisted on being smart, coming to my house to keep an eye on me, and even installing bugs. So, I decided to use her resources. Besides, I didn’t ask them to fight over the space-time door."

Hearing such logical reasoning, both Su Hui and Xiaoling expressed sympathy: "Gu Fan, you’d better be prepared to get beaten up."

Worried about being bugged, Gu Fan, Su Hui, and Xiaoling’s conversation took place on the balcony, also allowing them to see Helen’s return immediately, prompting them to stop talking at once and retreat back into the house.

Upon entering, Helen saw the three of them looking unfriendly and found herself in an awkward position: "Please don’t look at me that way, Gu Fan. The space-time door wasn’t destroyed by us; we wanted to protect it, and we tried our best."

"Okay, okay, I don’t blame you. Now that the space-time door is destroyed, I don’t have any value to you anymore. So why are you still hanging around?" Gu Fan pretended to be in a bad mood, playing the part of a host about to show a guest out.

"Gu Fan, you’re not thinking of kicking me out, are you?" Helen became anxious: "Don’t be like that. I know you’re in a bad mood, but don’t take it out on me."

Then, Su Hui chimed in to mediate: "Let it go, Gu Fan. This really isn’t Helen’s fault. You shouldn’t take all your anger out on her."

Relieved to hear Su Hui speaking up for her, Helen was somewhat pleased, but then she heard Su Hui add, "Actually, Helen, you really don’t need to stay. After all, you’re different from us."

"You guys..." Helen, looking at the three indifferent faces in front of her, felt a sudden sense of injustice and stubbornly bit her lip, angrily retorted, "Fine, if I’m not welcome here, then I’ll leave." With that, Helen stormed upstairs, yet she couldn’t help but look back and say, "I really thought I was considered a friend here. I was too naive."
