Chapter 862 Information Exchange
Chapter 862: Chapter 862 Information Exchange
Seeing Zhuo Hang leave, Liu Hui, Yan Bing, and Hu Hu didn’t dare to delay and hurriedly followed him, although Liu Hui couldn’t help but look back at the boss.
Liu Hui caught up with Zhuo Hang and asked, "Boss, could that guy possibly be the person of great interest that higher-ups have been monitoring?"
"You’re pretty clever to think of that so quickly," Zhuo Hang didn’t deny, his expression growing a bit more solemn.
Liu Hui, Yan Bing, and Hu Hu were very surprised. They were part of a special investigation team and knew some top-secret information, including a file about the boss, which described him as an immortal being who had lived for over a thousand years.
"Hold on, if that person really was the boss just now, he called you ’little brother,’ then..." Liu Hui, Yan Bing, and Hu Hu all looked at Zhuo Hang with surprised eyes.
Knowing he couldn’t hide it anymore, Zhuo Hang gave a wry smile, "That’s right, that man and I are biological brothers, and I’ve lived just as long as he has, a thousand years—otherwise, how could I have fought off that member of the Xue Clan?"
"No way, boss, you’re so powerful, and yet you’ve been keeping it from us all this time," after their surprise, Liu Hui, Yan Bing, and Hu Hu all showed looks of admiration.
Hu Hu couldn’t help but say, "So we’re just going to let the big boss go like that? He’s a high-priority target."
"If you’re happy to, you can go catch him," Zhuo Hang said dismissively, and Hu Hu immediately shook his head, indicating he was scared, how could he possibly fight such a monster.
Yan Bing also had a question, "Are we supposed to go after the big boss now, or the Xue Clan?"
"First the Xue Clan because they are the outsiders," Zhuo Hang stated directly, and then emphasized, "I will report this myself, you all follow my orders, remember, in these extraordinary times, do not act on your own initiative."
Recalling how swiftly the person who had come to rescue Xue Lang had acted, and knowing that he was no ordinary opponent, Liu Hui, Yan Bing, and Hu Hu realized that the enemy they were facing was far more challenging than they had imagined.
"Xue Lang isn’t much of a threat; my worry is that besides Xue Lang, there may be other powerful members of the Xue Clan out there, perhaps formidable figures that even I might not be able to contend with," Zhuo Hang shared his concerns before sending his three subordinates back first, needing to go find Su Hui.
Yan Bing and Hu Hu had no objections, but Liu Hui was puzzled, wondering why, whenever such situations arose, Zhuo Hang always had to find Su Hui, what was it about her that was so reliable.
Within a short while, Liu Hui, Yan Bing, and Hu Hu bid farewell, each returning to their respective homes.
After Liu Hui got home and had just sat down to rest, he heard someone knocking at the door, which made him very tense—who could it be this late?
"I know you’re home, don’t worry, I’m not here to cause trouble," the boss’s voice sounded from outside the door: "I knocked politely, so please open the door with the same courtesy, don’t make me break your door with one punch and disturb the neighbors’ rest—that wouldn’t be good."
Hearing this, Liu Hui’s heart sank, and he quickly reached for his smartphone, thinking of calling for help.
"Please don’t notify my little brother; I don’t want him to know about our conversation," the boss still sounded very polite, patiently waiting for the door to be opened.
Liu Hui had been through some things too, so he was fairly courageous, knowing the visitor’s identity was out of the ordinary, and driven by curiosity, he opened the door.
"Thank you!" The boss stepped in, looked around, and then asked, "Do you know why I’ve come to find you?"
Gu Liu Hui just shook his head as his entire body tensed up.
The boss patted Liu Hui on the shoulder, "Relax, I’m in a good mood today, don’t feel like hitting anyone, and I’m no tyrant. I treat my subordinates well."
"You want me to work for you, to provide you with information." Liu Hui roughly guessed the boss’s intent and became even more vigilant.
The boss smiled slightly, "I really didn’t misread you, you indeed are a smart man."
"Sorry, but I’m a man who abide by the rules. I won’t betray Zhuo Hang." Liu Hui was firm, showing no possibility of wavering.
At this, the boss shook his head, "I don’t want you to betray Zhuo Hang but to exchange information with me. For example, if you want to know something, you can ask me, and if I want to know about someone, I can ask you."
After hearing this, Liu Hui was somewhat tempted, but he told himself not to take the bait. This guy before him was dangerous; it was best to keep a respectful distance.
However, the boss seemed to see through what Liu Hui was thinking and added another sentence, "You must have a lot of things you want to know, lots of questions in your mind needing answers, right?"
Liu Hui didn’t answer, choosing to remain silent, which to the boss essentially amounted to consent.
Back in that small alley, when three people followed Zhuo Hang’s departure, only Liu Hui looked back. It wasn’t bravery, it was curiosity, and the boss noticed Liu Hui’s actions.
The idea of exchanging information didn’t sound too bad. Liu Hui felt tempted and asked with a tentative attitude, "Do you know Su Hui’s secret?"
"Of course, Su Hui’s biggest secret is Gu Fan." After saying this, the boss showed enthusiasm, "Alright, you’ve asked me a question. Later on, I will ask you one too, to keep things fair. Remember, keeping one’s word is very important. I may be ruthless, but I value my word more than anyone."
"What?" Liu Hui’s heart sank. He had asked casually and fallen right into the boss’s trap.
The boss continued, "If you have more you want to know, just ask. I’ll tell all that I know without reservation."
Driven by curiosity, Liu Hui thought since it was already this way, he might as well ask more, "Why is Gu Fan Su Hui’s biggest secret? What’s so special about him?"
"Do you know how many times Su Hui has taken long vacations? Every time, it’s to go on adventures with Gu Fan. That’s why Gu Fan is her biggest secret." The boss answered and then held up two fingers.
Liu Hui understood what the boss meant and knew he couldn’t ask more, or else the more he owed, the more he’d have to repay. But he was so curious; he really wanted to know what Su Hui had experienced.
Liu Hui couldn’t help but ask another question, "Where did Su Hui accompany Gu Fan on these adventures?"
"To the Outer Realm Desert in search of the capital of Qian Ye Country, to Yuxueyun Mountain in search of the secret of immortality, to the Triangle Sea Area in search of the Destiny Stone, and this recent major news story was also caused by Gu Fan and Su Hui," the boss revealed these four events, each one enough to astound Liu Hui, each one capable of arousing his insatiable curiosity.
Liu Hui wanted to ask more, but the boss refused; he had already answered three of Liu Hui’s questions. If Liu Hui couldn’t provide valuable information in return, the boss would no longer answer any of his questions, because that would not comply with the principle of equivalent exchange.
