Chapter 839: Braving the Devil Cult
Chapter 839: Chapter 839: Braving the Devil Cult
The mighty gate of the Magic Cult’s Headquarters was split open by a fierce Jian Qi, as Jian Shen strode in with his head held high, his gaze more terrifying than the sword energy itself, startling the disciples of the Devil Cult to the point where they dared not approach him.
Lu Bei and Lin Xi followed closely behind; they were quite worried that Jian Shen wouldn’t be able to handle everything on his own and thought they might be able to help him out in a critical moment.
One of the Devil Cult’s followers knew the gravity of the situation but mustered the courage to scold, "Jian Shen, you’ve got some nerve thinking that just because your swordsmanship is peerless you can barge into the Magic Cult’s Headquarters. I think you’re tired of living."
Lin Xi retorted directly, "You people of the Devil Cult do evil deeds and harm nature and reason; you all deserve to be executed. Anyone with a sense of justice cannot stand your actions."
Seeing Lin Xi’s resolute demeanor, the members of the Devil Cult frowned and countered, "Aren’t you Qian Ye from the Shennv Xuanhui? Aren’t you a demoness? You should be on our side."
"Pah, who’s on your side?" Lin Xi detested the moniker of demoness and glared furiously.
"Demoness or witch, it’s all the same." A woman in a black dress exuding a certain seductive charm stepped out from the hall, her lips curling slightly upward, "I heard Jian Shen, you’ve become the enemy of the martial arts community, just like us. They say the enemy of my enemy is my friend."
Lin Xi let out a "hmph" of disdain, "Sorry, but those with different paths don’t scheme together, and besides, we aren’t here to make friends."
"That’s right, I’m here for my teacher. If he’s in your hands, please hand him over to me, and I will leave immediately," Jian Shen said in a flat tone, yet his assertive demeanor left no room for negotiation, which unsettled Mo Yun immensely.
Mo Yun maintained her smile, casually brushed her hair aside, and her eyes shimmered with a soul-snatching charm, attempting to use her Mind Control on Jian Shen.
"Quit your little tricks," Jian Shen’s power was high, and his will strong; he would not fall for such petty artifices.
Mo Yun nodded, "Fair enough, you truly are a renowned Jian Shen, not so easily dismissed."
Lin Xi scorned Mo Yun’s tactics, "Hurry up and release him; don’t waste our time, we still have to go back for lunch."
Hearing this, Mo Yun couldn’t help but laugh, "The man is in our hands, and he’s still alive, but you think you can just ask us to release him, aren’t you taking our Devil Cult too lightly?"
"I really don’t have the time or the inclination to dawdle with you, just state your terms," Jian Shen demanded straightforwardly, and Mo Yun was quick to reply, "Our terms are simple: we release your teacher, and you, Jian Shen, join our Devil Cult."
To this, Lin Xi was displeased, "Dream on, if you want Jian Shen to join, you should consider joining our side of righteousness."
Mo Yun shot a glance, "You’re Qian Ye, right? I heard you’ve fled from the Shennv Xuanhui, and Qian Feng is very displeased with you. She instructed us to inform her immediately if we got news of you. I never expected you’d deliver yourself to us."
At this, Lin Xi blinked. In this era, Qian Feng was really tough on Qian Ye; Lin Xi dared not draw Qian Feng’s attention.
"What’s the matter? Why so silent? Are you scared?" Mo Yun’s smile carried a smug satisfaction, and Lin Xi was fuming, "You think I’ll give you the chance to notify Qian Feng?"
"Are you looking for a fight, then? Fine, come at me," Mo Yun had already drawn her whip, then chillingly added, "You’ll learn that today’s Devil Cult is not something any one person can intrude upon."
"Good, I’ll make it known to you that no matter how strong the Devil Cult becomes, evil will never prevail over righteousness," Jian Shen unsheathed his sword, with a fierce swipe, three thousand strands of Jian Qi whirled chaotically, savagely rampaging through the Devil Cult’s disciples at the forefront, sending them all flying, cries of agony unending.
Just a single sword stroke overwhelmed everything; it was too strong, truly too strong. The members of the Devil Cult could only stay away in fear.
Mo Yun wielded her whip in self-defense, swinging it so densely that not even wind could get through, scattering all incoming Jian Qi; she did possess some real skills, no wonder she dared to converse with Jian Shen.
When the Jian Qi lessened, Mo Yun counterattacked, lashing out with her whip, the whooshing sound sharply cleaving through the air.
Jian Shen, Lin Xi, and Lu Bei knew she was not to be trifled with and quickly dodged; if they had been a moment slower, they feared they might have been shattered just like the stone slabs on the ground by her whip.
"My god, this witch has some skills." Lin Xi reminded herself not to underestimate the enemy and then saw Jian Shen charging directly at Mo Yun; obviously, Mo Yun was of some significance, capturing her could provide a hostage.
However, the longer the weapon, the stronger it is. Mo Yun swung her whip, creating a storm-like defensive perimeter around her. Anytime Jian Shen approached, the whip would force him back.
Seeing Jian Shen repeatedly forced back, Mo Yun became somewhat proud: "What’s the matter? The great Jian Shen only has this much skill?"
Jian Shen smiled faintly, "It seems I was too full of myself, thinking I could defeat you effortlessly and capture you without causing any harm. Indeed, that’s somewhat challenging."
Upon hearing this, Mo Yun was dismissive: "From the sound of it, you’re not fighting with all your strength, right? Well, then don’t hold back. If you injure me, it just shows my own lack of skill."
"Alright, I..." Jian Shen had barely finished speaking when he heard Lin Xi’s voice complaining from behind: "What, you’re pulling your punches? Could it be you’ve fallen for this witch, hence your mercy on her? I knew it, no man is good."
Lu Bei was dumbfounded: "What’s all this, and what’s with the jealousy now of all times?"
Jian Shen felt a bit awkward and thought it was best to end this quickly to avoid an awkward situation. Thus, he firmed his resolve, pushed off with his feet, quickened his speed, and hurled a sword strike at Mo Yun as fast as a gust of wind.
Mo Yun’s reaction wasn’t slow either. She caught the angle of the strike, swung her whip, engulfing it like a whirlwind, then coiled around the blade like a snake, neutralizing the force of the strike.
However, Jian Shen wasn’t phased; with a flick of his wrist and a twirl of the sword, he effortlessly shattered the coiled whip, showcasing the gap in power.
"What, that simple!" Mo Yun could hardly believe it, but she had to steel herself, throwing a palm strike at Jian Shen.
Jian Shen met her strike with his own palm; surprisingly, the two matched evenly in the clash.
"No way, she has about 70% of my power." Jian Shen was surprised but quickly steadied himself, elevating his power to 80% and sent Mo Yun flying.
In the contest of internal strength, Mo Yun lost, spitting blood and flying backward in anger, but she knew she was no match for Jian Shen and promptly fled into the great hall, saying, "Jian Shen, if you want to save your master, enter the great hall if you dare but don’t regret it later."
Jian Shen, ever the bold and skilled, didn’t care whether there were traps inside the great hall or not and rushed in. Lin Xi tried to call him back but to no avail; leaving Lu Bei to wait outside.
"No way, you both go in, what am I supposed to do?" Lu Bei became somewhat panicked, seeing many of the Devil Cult’s people lurking around, he had no choice but to muster his courage and follow them.
