Those Classmates who Suddenly Disappeared -
Chapter 831: The Monster in the Woods
Chapter 831: Chapter 831: The Monster in the Woods
Gu Fan, Su Hui, and the people from the Haiyan Gang successfully escaped into the small grove, then observed the movements outside, and the result greatly disappointed Gu Fan. Neither enemy attacked the other, and he didn’t know what they were thinking—whether they were too scared to fight or they had seen through Gu Fan’s strategy.
Su Hui sighed, "It seems like they didn’t fall for it, your plan failed."
"But at least we’ve avoided a disadvantageous situation, which means my plan was half-successful," Gu Fan had just finished speaking when the leader of Haiyan Gang added, "I really thought we were done for just now, but you actually came up with such a plan."
"We were also lucky, it wasn’t our time to die yet," Gu Fan frowned as he saw a group of people withdrawing outside the forest, seemingly giving up, while another group continued to advance, as if they were determined to pursue and kill relentlessly.
Gu Fan’s expression became somber, "Everyone, get ready. The Black Night Gang is coming."
To this, the leader of Haiyan Gang was puzzled, "It’s so dark out, how do you know those are people from the Black Night Gang?"
Su Hui helped explain, "Because the boss of the Black Night Gang is now a woman, and this woman has a vendetta against Gu Fan, so..."
Upon hearing this, the leader of Haiyan Gang instantly understood, his expression one of epiphany, and then he spoke with heartfelt emotion, "I understand, I have had such experiences when I was young too. It’s all because I didn’t know how to cherish back then."
The more Gu Fan listened, the more awkward he felt, "What is this all about?"
While Su Hui was laughing smugly, the leader of Haiyan Gang looked at her with a meaningful glance, immediately making Su Hui feel embarrassed.
The leader of Haiyan Gang tentatively asked, "The reason Gu Fan offended the female boss of the Black Night Gang, could it be because of another woman...?"
"This..." This time, it was Su Hui who felt embarrassed. She wanted to say it was a misunderstanding, but Gu Fan found his chance and smiled, "That’s right, I offended the female boss of the Black Night Gang because of a certain woman by my side, because I know who I love most in my heart."
"Oh, I see..." the leader of Haiyan Gang looked moved, "That’s right, you should choose the person you love most. When I was young, I offended my ex-girlfriend for the same reason, kid, I support you."
Finding common ground, the leader of Haiyan Gang took on a stance of utmost support and naturally assumed that the woman by Gu Fan’s side mentioned was Su Hui, which only added more meaning to his gaze towards her, causing Gu Fan some bemusement.
Su Hui was so embarrassed she even punched Gu Fan, who was grinning mischievously. What was this, taking advantage?
Soon, everyone stopped talking, their faces serious as they prepared for what was to come, because the people from the Black Night Gang had already entered this part of the forest.
Gu Fan and Su Hui held their breath, focused, and prepared for battle as they watched the figures from the Black Night Gang approach.
Suddenly, Gu Fan saw a fast-moving figure and was startled. He didn’t know what it was, thinking he might have seen it wrong, but he was still incredibly nervous and restless.
As Su Hui concentrated, she felt something whizzing past her, and when she looked back, she didn’t see anything. Her brows furrowed deeply, she trusted her senses, and then said, "Did any of you notice something here?"
Hearing this, the leader of Haiyan Gang became very nervous, "Please, don’t talk nonsense, it’s really scary."
Gu Fan also spoke up, "I’m not trying to scare anyone, but I just saw it too, and it seems the Black Night Gang has also noticed something. They are all on alert."
Indeed, the Black Night Gang had stopped advancing, looking left, then right, their hands shaking with the guns they held. They too had sensed that something was not quite normal around them, as something seemed to have dashed from one side to the other.
Suddenly, there was a mournful howl followed by gunfire, and one of the Black Night Gang was dragged away. Instantly, everyone tensed up, wondering what on earth was going on.
Gu Fan and Su Hui hadn’t been able to see what struck, just saw a member of the Black Night Gang staggering backward chaotically, flailing his arms and legs in a futile struggle before he was dragged deep into the woods.
Not only were the members of the Black Night Gang panicked, but Gu Fan and his group were as well. Nobody knew what kind of monster was hiding in this forest.
There were whistling sounds, low growls, and the rustling of tree leaves—every sound conveyed terror, tormenting everyone’s nerves.
Almost simultaneously, members of both the Black Night Gang and the Haiyan Gang were attacked, caught by creatures as swift as the wind and carried off before the surrounding people could even react, let alone attempt a rescue.
This place was indeed dangerous. After three members of the Black Night Gang had been snatched away one after the other, their will to fight crumbled. They started to sob and run towards the edge of the woods.
Seeing this, Gu Fan knew they couldn’t linger here any longer. He quickly led his people to follow the Black Night Gang, hoping the fast-moving creatures would focus on their rivals and not on them.
The chaos actually made it easier for the creatures lurking in the darkness to move. They leapt from tree to tree, ran rapidly through the forest, now to the left, now to the right, now up, now down.
Gu Fan and Su Hui could only catch glimpses of shadows moving, totally unaware of their adversary’s movements, which made them even more anxious.
The monsters in the darkness targeted those who ran slowly or were isolated, easily capturing them before carrying them away.
Hearing the screams and gunfire behind them, everyone’s hairs stood on end, fear compelling them to run for their lives, and even if they fell by accident, they scrambled to get back up.
Just as they were about to escape the forest, something fell from above, blocking their path.
Upon closer inspection, everyone’s blood ran cold—it was the bodies of those taken earlier, both from the Black Night Gang and the Haiyan Gang. They all had wounds on their necks, seemingly bitten to death while still alive.
With that, who would dare to keep running? Everyone started backing away, but if they didn’t leave these woods, the danger would remain.
Without hesitation, Su Hui shouted, "Don’t run around in panic! Regardless of what’s in these woods, we need to stick together now, or none of us will make it out."
After hearing her, whether from the Black Night Gang or the Haiyan Gang, everyone instinctively drew closer to those around them. At this point, there wasn’t any distinction between friends and foes.
With their ranks temporarily stabilized, an eerie silence fell around them—no sound was heard. But it felt as if the forest was even more fraught with danger, as if the creature was just waiting for an opportunity, biding its time.
Su Hui was very tense, her palms sweaty. She began to strategize, instructing everyone to keep as far away from the trees as possible, and for groups of three to take up positions facing different directions.
