Those Classmates who Suddenly Disappeared
Chapter 816: Crazy Tonight

Chapter 816: Chapter 816: Crazy Tonight

Complete loss of control, complete chaos, nearly every street in the city erupted with rioters smashing shops, setting things alight, cursing loudly, and even bursting into raucous laughter. Sometimes, verbal and physical altercations occurred as they fought each other.

Those who already intended to cause trouble, the petty thieves who only dared commit minor thefts on ordinary days, those who bore resentment towards life and this place, and those who simply wished to behave recklessly, at this moment, were all ignited, indulging in wanton disorder.

The city was like descending into hell, and those responsible for maintaining order were urgently deliberating. The situation had grown so severe that it exceeded their control and they did not even understand how things had devolved to such an extent.

The epicenter of all this chaos was that truck, so they ordered the tracing of its whereabouts. But the answer they received was that many city street surveillance cameras had been destroyed and, for the moment, the truck’s whereabouts were lost, though the search continued.

Worse news kept coming. The streets were too chaotic, many security personnel had been dispatched to cope with the situation, leaving fewer to be mobilized. From one street to another, manpower was simply not enough.

Several large fires in succession meant that nearly all the fire trucks were deployed, but even so, they couldn’t prevent the spread of the flames. Putting out fires here meant they were starting up elsewhere.

The number of injuries continued to rise. Every available ambulance in the city was deployed, bringing back batches of injured only to head out again for more.

Many who maintained the city’s security had also been injured, with numerous vehicles damaged. With other areas also in turmoil, resources were stretched thin. Facing this uncontrollable situation, their mentality was on the verge of collapsing.

There was no choice but to urgently request support from neighboring cities to help quell this storm.

Even so, the city security personnel did not give up tracking the truck, but still found no sign of it. It hadn’t vanished into thin air; rather, too many surveillance cameras had been damaged, helicopters couldn’t be deployed in the stormy weather, and all vehicles that had pursued it were now scrapped, with their drivers awaiting medical treatment.

Some suggested pausing the search for the truck until things settled down, as previous efforts to mobilize so many people and vehicles had ended badly, and now there were only a few people left to mobilize; sending them out would be akin to sending them to their deaths.

Others thought it best to give up because concerning the truck, almost all gangs in the city had mobilized, an unprecedented event. If all the city’s gangs truly united, the pressure would be unbearable.

Yet, there were objections. Surveillance footage had shown that the Black Night Gang and Lone Wolf Gang seemed to be fiercely chasing the truck, resolved to destroy it at any cost, even if it meant stirring the city into an uproar.

No gang had previously dared to directly confront the security forces, but today they did, plunging the city into panic and loss of control. Therefore, the next move had to be cautious. It was essential to understand what the gangs really intended and what was so important about that truck.

At this time, in a corner of the city, inside a warehouse, Gu Fan, Su Hui, David, and members of the Fat Tiger Gang were hiding. This was another stronghold of the Fat Tiger Gang in the city, set up for handling bad situations and providing a hiding place. They didn’t expect it would come in handy today.

Gu Fan and Su Hui stood under the warehouse roof, watching the flames rise, feeling a sense of scare. This was too chaotic.

Thereafter, Gu Fan and Su Hui climbed down from the roof and asked the Fat Tiger Gang boss whether the place was safe.

The boss repeatedly assured that this place was a secret, purchased by him alone, and he was intimately familiar with nearby surveillance. With everyone causing mayhem everywhere, damaging the nearby cameras wouldn’t raise suspicion. Hiding here was absolutely safe.

Finally, Gu Fan and Su Hui could relax and take a little rest.

"Alright, we’ve finally shaken off everyone; now we need to leave this place, but this truck is no longer usable," Gu Fan said, and then glanced at David, who was still checking equipment in the truck.

David then stepped out of the truck and gave Gu Fan a gesture indicating there were no problems, which relieved him. He had been worried that the collision and bullets had severely damaged the space-time door.

Fortunately, there was a small truck parked in the warehouse, recently bought by the Fat Tiger Gang boss, with plates that hadn’t been seen much on the road, and hence wouldn’t attract attention.

Using this small truck to barely transport their cargo out was possible. But finding the right driver was crucial because Gu Fan, Su Hui, and the Fat Tiger Gang members would be recognized, possibly leading to major trouble again.

Su Hui had a better suggestion: since the Fat Tiger Gang found people to transport goods by boat, couldn’t they find a similar group to stealthily transport everyone and their cargo by truck?

The Fat Tiger Gang said they could call some people for the job, but it would require some money.

"Good, let’s do that!" Gu Fan nodded in agreement, then looked at everyone’s exhausted faces, each looking like they had narrowly escaped death, and knew they all needed rest.

Gu Fan suggested taking turns on night watch, at least two people per shift, keeping an ear out for any trouble.

David was the first to agree with this plan, and he was the first to go to sleep. It couldn’t be helped—he was older than anyone else here and couldn’t withstand the strain.

One person from the Fat Tiger Gang took the night watch, and the rest quickly sought rest. They were so tired, truly exhausted. As soon as they laid down and closed their eyes, they fell asleep.

Su Hui urged Gu Fan to rest first, but he just smiled and insisted he could hold on, prompting Su Hui to rest first.

Seeing she couldn’t refuse, Su Hui accepted, but she couldn’t help saying, "Gu Fan, be ready. If Qian Ye, who wants to destroy the space-time door, is really behind those gangs, she definitely won’t let us go easily. We might escape from here, but we may not be able to return to our place without trouble."

"I know, and that’s what worries me," Gu Fan replied with a heavy heart. He looked back at David and the truck, knowing they had to withstand whatever happened next. Heaven knows how anxiously Lin Xi awaited him in ancient times.

To think of the appointed day arriving, Lin Xi seeing no sign of Gu Fan to pick her up, what would she think? So much time had passed and Gu Fan still hadn’t appeared; Lin Xi must be getting frantic.

However, Gu Fan was unaware that Lin Xi, too, was beset with worries at this very moment.
