Chapter 807: Chapter 807: Pincer Attack from Front and Rear
Su Hui had already informed Gu Fan that their movements were detected. Although Gu Fan made a quick decision to abandon the idea of meeting up and told everyone to leave the city in the shortest time possible, implying every man for himself, things did not go as planned. Their truck got stuck in traffic.
These evenings had been restless, leading people to rush home and thus causing road congestion. With no other option, the truck could only wait it out slowly.
Gu Fan thought that even if his people could escape the city, but the truck remained, it could be discovered and seized by the enemy. Some people weren’t necessarily targeting Gu Fan, but were after the Fat Tiger Gang.
Therefore, Gu Fan felt it was better to stick to the original plan: regroup and then leave the city together. Even though this risked exposing them, Gu Fan couldn’t bear the thought of letting the truck out of his sight.
Hence, Su Hui and David arrived at the warehouse to meet with Gu Fan and then discuss what to do next.
As time ticked by, it wasn’t until nightfall that two members of the Fat Tiger Gang arrived in the truck, which had frustrated Gu Fan to no end—curfew was approaching, and if they didn’t leave soon, they wouldn’t be able to escape the city.
Suddenly, the sound of cars speeding toward them startled Gu Fan and the others. They looked towards the intersection with growing unease. The roar of engines and the screeching of tires made their hearts race.
Gu Fan and Su Hui ran outside the warehouse, frowning deeply, and then they saw several vehicles racing down the road with menacing momentum.
The Lone Wolf Gang had arrived. A line of their cars blocked the road, and gunmen got out and started shooting without a word.
"Retreat!" Gu Fan shouted and then immediately fled back into the warehouse.
However, the first shot was fired by Su Hui. She reacted the fastest—when the Lone Wolf Gang members raised their guns, Su Hui struck first, taking one down.
Members of the Fat Tiger Gang also came forward, firing back while closing the warehouse’s smashed gate, their hearts pounding with the thought that they were just one traffic jam too late.
Gu Fan asked, "Who are they? Do you recognize them?"
To this, members of the Fat Tiger Gang nodded: "They are from the biggest local gang, the Lone Wolf Gang. But we didn’t provoke them. Why are they attacking us?"
"This is strange!" Gu Fan also couldn’t make sense of it. Were the city gangs now so hot-headed that they attacked each another on sight?
Now relying on their superior numbers and firepower, members of the Lone Wolf Gang kept firing, punching several holes in the warehouse gate, which groaned as if it were about to give way.
Gu Fan looked around and spotted only a small back door, which was utterly inadequate for moving out goods. He was incredibly anxious.
Suddenly, the gunfire ceased, which puzzled Gu Fan, Su Hui, and David. Could their opponents have had enough and left?
Just as Gu Fan was about to go out and investigate, a woman’s voice rang out: "Listen up inside—hand over Gu Fan and the goods, and I’ll let you live. Otherwise, there will be no mercy."
Upon hearing this, Gu Fan’s heart chilled. First, they were targeting him, and second, the reaction of the Fat Tiger Gang.
Sure enough, the Fat Tiger Gang looked at Gu Fan with odd stares, especially the boss, who expressed dissatisfaction: "I didn’t expect you to have provoked the Lone Wolf Gang, the biggest gang in this city. No wonder you didn’t tell us. You’re trying to drag us down with you." After speaking, the Fat Tiger boss pressed his gun against Gu Fan’s head.
"Wait, listen to me. I don’t know anything about the Lone Wolf Gang, I haven’t provoked them," said Gu Fan, sweat beading on his forehead. He suspected that behind the Lone Wolf Gang was Organization X.
At that moment, Qiao Ya said, "Gu Fan, I admire your tenacity in contending with us up to this point. But this place isn’t your turf, you have no advantage. I advise you to stop resisting."
"It really is you!" Gu Fan clenched his teeth and then said to the Fat Tiger boss, "Don’t just shoot without thinking. The Lone Wolf Gang wants us alive. If you kill us, you won’t survive either."
Hearing this, the Fat Tiger boss frowned, uncertain whether Gu Fan’s statement was true.
Then, Su Hui quietly approached and placed her gun against the Fat Tiger boss’s head: "Although we didn’t inform you initially who we had offended, you knew cooperating with us came with risks. Now that those risks have materialized, you should face them with us instead of thinking about betraying us."
Gu Fan added, "You didn’t inquire, which meant you accepted no matter who our enemy was, you would continue the partnership. Now that you know it’s the Lone Wolf Gang, are you going to go back on your word? Besides, even if the Lone Wolf Gang spares you today, given the current state of the city where gangs are fiercely clashing, do you think other gangs will leave you alone? Don’t forget why you cooperated with us in the first place—because, like us, you have no other options."
Hearing this, the Fat Tiger boss hesitated, knowing that Gu Fan’s words were true and realizing that it wasn’t the time for kicking a man when he was down. But thinking of the Lone Wolf Gang outside and that escape seemed impossible, he didn’t want to go down with Gu Fan.
"What to do? What to do?" As the Fat Tiger boss agonized, he saw the back door and a glimmer of hope arose. He planned to retreat through the back, abandoning Gu Fan and Su Hui completely, rationalizing that it wouldn’t really be betrayal or abandonment. Also, this was a matter between the Lone Wolf Gang and Gu Fan’s group; others shouldn’t get involved and exacerbate the chaos.
By this time, Helen, Qiao Ya, and Dong Ni were already aware of the warehouse’s back door and had sent men there, with Dong Ni leading the team.
Just as Helen thought they had everything under control, a series of gunshots and cries of pain came from the back.
"Could Gu Fan and his group really have fled through the back door!" Helen grabbed the radio and hurriedly asked, "What’s going on, Dong Ni? What happened at the back door?"
Dong Ni took cover in a corner, clutching his wounded arm, and shouted angrily, "I don’t know what happened. Suddenly a group appeared and started shooting at us without saying a word. They outnumbered us, and now I think we’re in trouble."
"What?" Helen frowned deeply, listening to the gunfire from the back, she had a bad premonition.
