Qiao Ya kept silent, ordering men to investigate the situation in the underground research base. Meanwhile, he instructed a strict guard to be kept on Gu Fan and Su Hui.

"It’s over. We’ve fallen into the enemy’s hands, what do we do now?" Su Hui glanced around, trying to find a moment of laxity from the opponents. If she could seize an opportunity to strike back, they might have a chance to escape.

But Qiao Ya seemed to see what Su Hui was thinking, and ordered everyone to keep a certain distance from her to avoid giving her any leverage.

"You’re kidding, he’s taking it so seriously!" sighed Gu Fan. Qiao Ya was frankly leaving no room for opportunities.

Soon, someone came running back to report that the underground research base was littered with bodies, blood flowing like rivers. This made Qiao Ya’s face darken, but he didn’t believe it and went over to see for himself.

"What, Su Lei was killed?" Dong Ni was stunned, then enraged, pointing his gun at Su Hui.

Gu Fan knew if he couldn’t explain this clearly, someone would die. "Look, it wasn’t Lin Xi, it was just a woman who looks identical to her. You’ve seen Lin Xi before, do you think she would do this?"

Qiao Ya frowned, half convinced-half questioning. He pursued, "If she’s not Lin Xi, then who is she? How did she know about this research base, and why did she destroy the space-time door?"

Gu Fan responded, "Don’t forget, we were of great help to those three researchers in the Triangle Sea Area, so they invited me here to visit."

On hearing this, Dong Ni became angry, "Yeah, in the Triangle Sea Area, you did help those three researchers escape from us. We went back empty-handed."

Qiao Ya reached out to lower Dong Ni’s gun, giving him a look to stop his recklessness. He said, "Our mission is to take the research results from here and the researchers. I hope you, Gu Fan, don’t involve yourself in our affairs, pretend you haven’t seen anything."

Gu Fan smiled and nodded, "Rest assured, I don’t want to blow this up. Publicizing it won’t do any of us good."

Seeing Qiao Ya’s intention of letting them go, Dong Ni disagreed, "They can’t be let go, Su Lei’s death is related to them."

Qiao Ya had to respect Dong Ni’s opinion, he asked Gu Fan once again, "Have you any more arguments? Convince me to let you go."

Su Hui and Gu Fan abducted Qiao Ya into the car, warning Dong Ni not to follow, or they would shoot Qiao Ya. As Su Hui drove away, she shot at the tires of other vehicles, bursting them all.
