Those Classmates who Suddenly Disappeared
Chapter 755: Pulling Strings

Chapter 755: Chapter 755: Pulling Strings

Zhuo Hang kicked open the back door, only to find a forest behind it, which made him hesitate. The forest was pitch black, with the leaves rustling in the night wind, creating an eerie atmosphere.

In front of the house was an endless cycle of scenery, and behind it was a dark forest. Both options seemed forbidding, but Su Hui bit her lips and plunged into the forest.

Zhuo Hang, concerned, followed her, saying, "This forest is dangerous Su Hui, we shouldn’t venture deeper."

"Staying in place is equally dangerous, we must try to move forward." Su Hui felt that if they could hold out till dawn, they should be fine. She had to keep moving to prevent any enemies from catching up.

The gloomy weather provided no moonlight, and the dark forest was deadly silent. Su Hui and Zhuo Hang could hear their own heartbeats and were sweating cold sweat.

Suddenly, a wolf howl sent shivers down Su Hui’s spine. She couldn’t tell where it came from, but it sounded ominously close.

Zhuo Hang reassured her: "Don’t worry. I can handle some wolves. What I’m worried about is..." He didn’t finish the sentence, not wanting to heighten Su Hui’s fear.

Su Hui had read that this primeval forest was a forbidden area. Many adventurers either went missing or went mad after coming back from exploring here, although it was unclear exactly what they had encountered.

Despite the exploration ban, every year, people still drive through and vanish.

As they continued walking, Su Hui saw what looked like a moving shadow in the distance. Su Hui nudged Zhuo Hang to alert him.

Zhuo Hang took a deep breath and then made a decision: "We can’t keep going in circles here. Let’s grab someone and force them to guide us out of here."

"Right, let’s do that." Su Hui agreed. The two of them inched closer to the shadow, which was standing still and seemingly unaware of their presence.

With a shared glance, Su Hui and Zhuo Hang suddenly sped up and pinned the figure to the ground.

The figure shrieked in terror and struggled desperately.

Su Hui was slightly startled. The voice sounded familiar. Su Hui and Zhuo Hang quickly got up, looked at the figure, and to their surprise, it was Liu Hui.

Apparently due to excessive fear, Liu Hui was lying on the ground, flailing about, and was too scared to open his eyes.

"It’s alright, it’s us! It’s us!" Su Hui said repeatedly until Liu Hui came to his senses and opened his eyes.

"My god, it is you guys!" Liu Hui couldn’t believe his eyes, immediately stood up, and despite being covered in dirt, hugged Zhuo Hang.

"Alright, alright. I understand you’re relieved, but you’re really dirty." Zhuo Hang finally pushed Liu Hui away and asked, "Why are you here? Where’s Yan Bing? What about the others?"

Liu Hui looked dejected as he spoke, "Our car broke down, and Yan Bing and I decided to get out. We saw a small path leading to an old town. We were terrified and tried to leave, but when we turned around, the road was gone, replaced by a forest. We had no choice but to force our way through."

At that moment, Yan Bing timidly approached. She had moved a bit further away for some privacy, and was startled by Liu Hui’s scream.

It’s a relief that both of them are fine, but Su Hui was puzzled, "Our car broke down and we encountered this old town. Same as you two. But our cars broke down at different places, there should be a substantial distance."

Hearing this, Zhuo Hang was also surprised, "Indeed, there should be at least a half an hour drive between us. How come we bump into each other here?"

Su Hui nodded, "According to the map, the road through this primitive forest runs from east to west, in a straight line. We shouldn’t encounter each other."

It was all very strange. After observing their surroundings, they all agreed that there was something off about the forest, drawing them together from such a distance.

"Alright, enough wondering. We can’t figure it out for now. Let’s leave this place quickly." Zhuo Hang suggested, and everyone agreed that their immediate priority was to escape.

Su Hui got an idea, "Since the four of us got drawn to this town, could it be possible that Hu Hu and Shi Hao also..."

"That’s very likely, but..." Before Liu Hui could finish, a distant cry of terror interrupted him. It sounded like it was Shi Hao’s.

Everyone rushed toward the sound, and saw two familiar figures running their way. Upon closer inspection, they found it was indeed Hu Hu and Shi Hao.

Zhuo Hang immediately called out to them. Seeing their own people, Hu Hu and Shi Hao were overjoyed and ran towards them. Shi Hao repeatedly called out, "Boss! Boss! Boss!"

Su Hui immediately asked, "What happened? What did you see that made you this scared?"

Shi Hao recounted what they had seen. Like the others, after their car broke down, they set out on foot. They saw lights in the forest and decided to investigate. They discovered a small path.

Hu Hu and Shi Hao suspected something amiss, but they took their chances anyway, thinking that they would turn back immediately if anything went wrong.

Just like Liu Hui and Yan Bing, by the time they realized something was wrong, the way back was gone. Thus, Hu Hu and Shi Hao had no choice but to wander aimlessly in the dark forest.

They were lucky to meet up in this place. It’s less nerve-wracking to be here in numbers than alone.

They couldn’t stay here for long, but couldn’t afford to move recklessly either. So Zhuo Hang gave an order, "Shi Hao, send out a signal for our location. Let them come and pick us up."

"Sure thing!" Shi Hao sent out a signal using his computer. According to the coordinates, a rescue team should arrive shortly. When they do, no matter what’s in the forest, it would all be taken care of.

But before the rescue team arrived, they were concerned that something bad might emerge from the forest. Everyone kept a vigilant watch, alert to every sound around them.

By dawn, several helicopters arrived with a considerable number of reinforcements. The area was cordoned off, but no trace of the ancient town was found.

After staying awake through the night, Zhuo Hang and Su Hui could finally rest. They dragged their weary bodies back, secretly relieved that they got out of it safely while also considering this special event to be a perplexing one.
