Those Classmates who Suddenly Disappeared -
Chapter 716: Drawing Firepower
Chapter 716: Chapter 716: Drawing Firepower
Gu Fan looked around. Everywhere he looked, there were fights. Zombies were running amok, attacking anyone they saw. There was absolutely no escape route in sight.
Having no other choice, Gu Fan knew that the best way to save everyone was to draw as much attention and fire as possible. He signaled to Su Hui and they both sprung into action, jointly attacking the zombies.
The zombies, who would bite anyone upon sight, chased after Gu Fan and Su Hui when they saw them, leaving the main troop behind.
Seeing the great danger that Gu Fan and Su Hui had put themselves in as bait, Lin Xi was worried. She commanded harshly at Qiao Ya: "You, go!"
Dong Ni objected to this: "Why?"
Lin Xi answered sternly: "If you don’t want to do anything, I’m not helping you escape."
Hearing this, Qiao Ya frowned. He didn’t like being threatened. However, Lin Xi asserted her strong stance through action. With a single blow, she created a strong wind that pushed Qiao Ya back three steps.
"When we escape later, I will use this method to avoid the zombies and clear a path for us. If you don’t cooperate, I will leave you behind. It’s your choice." Lin Xi’s gaze was strong and uncompromising.
Qiao Ya gritted his teeth and finally gave in, "Alright, but only I will go. My two companions will escape with you first."
"No problem!" With that said, Lin Xi shifted her gaze onto Dong Ni and Su Lei and commanded, "When we charge out later, apart from following us, you also have the responsibility to protect the vulnerable. If we charge out together, no one is to be left behind. Anyone who dares to abandon their comrades will not be let off lightly."
"You woman..." Both Dong Ni and Su Lei were pissed off, but they had no choice but to agree.
Meanwhile, Qian Feng was observing Lin Xi’s every move, her eyes sharp and focused, as if she would take action at any sign of abnormal behavior from Lin Xi.
Ning Qi suggested from the side, "Sis, now is the best opportunity to get rid of Gu Fan and Lin Xi. Don’t go soft on them."
"How could I go soft? And I don’t need your reminders." Qian Feng coldly silenced Ning Qi.
At that moment, Qiao Ya joined Gu Fan and Su Hui. With the addition of Qiao Ya, who was a skilled fighter, their situation immediately improved. Each of them could individually take on several people, and even combined, they could send zombies sprawling.
Having seen Gu Fan, Su Hui, and Qiao Ya successfully distract the surrounding zombies, Lin Xi felt that the timing was right to cast a spell and clear a path for everyone. But Gu Ling stopped Lin Xi.
"Wait, Sister Lin Xi. It’s not the time yet." Although Gu Ling said this, Lin Xi was anxious, "If not now, then when? If we don’t bust out soon, Gu Fan and the others could be in danger."
"Yes, indeed. Let’s move quickly." Lu Yi defended with a shield while Jie fought back with a club, everyone trying their best to fend off the zombies.
Seeing the zombie ferociously bare its teeth and wave its claws, Qin Jia was terrified. Everyone had the same thought as Qin Jia, they wanted to escape as quickly as possible, they didn’t want to waste a single moment.
The woman in red looked at her handiwork with satisfaction, she seemed to be enjoying the spectacle. She even exclaimed, "You’re fighting fiercely but I still feel it’s not exciting enough."
Upon hearing this, everyone wanted to spit on this artificial intelligence.
Gu Ling closed her eyes and focussed, "Not now. Wait a moment longer. I can’t sense the right timing yet."
Despite being impatient, Lin Xi chose to trust Gu Ling. She was ready to unleash, just waiting for Gu Ling’s signal.
Meanwhile, Qian Feng noticed something off too. By Gu Fan, Su Hui, and Qiao Ya drawing the attention of so many zombies, the pressure on Lin Xi’s side had decreased significantly. Logically, now would be the perfect time to break out, so why aren’t they moving?
Qian Feng noticed that Lin Xi seemed to be waiting for Gu Ling. She remembered what Qian Ying had once mentioned to her - that Gu Ling was exceptional, always able to find Qian Ying wherever she was hiding. That’s why Qian Ying believed that Gu Ling was her biggest nemesis.
"Interesting, let’s see what you’re capable of." Qian Feng shifted her attention to Gu Ling.
Just at that moment, a horde of zombies rushed in from the entrance. However, their attention was all on the pirates and they all lunged towards them.
Seeing this, Lin Xi’s face paled. If they didn’t heed Gu Ling’s advice earlier, the team would be trapped amongst the zombies when they reached the door. The consequences would be gruesome, with some members likely to be thrown to the ground. Even Lin Xi felt she would be unable to protect everyone.
Qian Feng noticed this too, secretly wondering whether Lin Xi and the others were lucky or they knew another horde was coming, which was why they didn’t rush towards the exit.
"Now’s the time!" Suddenly, Gu Ling shouted. Lin Xi, who had been ready all along, cast her spell. A strong wind erupted around her, blowing away all the zombies in front of them.
"Everyone, follow me!" Lin Xi took the lead, with everyone else close behind.
Gu Ling’s timing was impeccable. Whether from the front, sides, or back, the number of zombies was minimal.
Lin Xi led the way, clearing the path ahead. Dong Ni and Su Lei fended off attacks from the sides, while Lu Yi and Jie covered the rear. As a group, they charged forward and miraculously made it out.
Upon seeing that his teammates were safe, Gu Fan tossed the chip to Lin Xi.
Seeing this, Qian Feng felt that Gu Ling’s timing was too accurate and there must be something off. She also didn’t want to see Gu Fan being too pleased with himself. Hence, she made a decision to retreat all her pirates to where she was standing, not diverting any of the zombies. In fact, during their retreat, she deliberately diverted the zombies to Gu Fan’s side, showing her malicious intent.
As a result, the pressure on Gu Fan, Su Hui, and Qiao Ya increased exponentially, making them feel as though the number of zombies had increased several folds. Regardless of their skills, they were finding it more difficult to cope, even fatigue was setting in.
Qian Feng wore a look of enjoyment as she was protected by over twenty pirates, the zombies couldn’t get anywhere near her. Even when a dozen of them tried to charge towards her, the pirates sent them flying with a synchronized kick.
Gu Fan didn’t have the same fortune. He found himself in an intense fight and even got bitten.
