Those Classmates who Suddenly Disappeared -
Chapter 713: Moving Towards the Next Trap
Chapter 713: Chapter 713: Moving Towards the Next Trap
The crisis was over, no one was targeted by laser lines anymore, but the agony from the prolonged exposure was still there, leaving everyone too weak to even stand.
Gu Fan bit down hard, trying to crawl towards the door, worried about Lin Xi. If she hadn’t come in time to rescue, it meant she was also in big trouble.
Suddenly the door swung open. Lin Xi came in, but she looked disheveled, and so did Du Jun and Qin Jia. They had shocked expressions and visible wounds, suggesting they’d encountered some trouble.
It turned out, not long after Gu Fan and the others had entered, several walking dead had attacked them, blocking both ends of the corridor. Lin Xi had no choice but to lead a fight back.
Luckily, everyone was safe. Lin Xi and Gu Fan heaved sighs of relief, then Lin Xi used her supernatural powers to heal everyone, not caring about the expenditure of her own energy.
With the aid of Lin Xi’s power, the laser wounds on Gu Fan and the others healed. They could freely move their arms and legs again, which almost made Lu Yi jump up in joy.
Qiao Ya, Dong Ni, Su Lei, and the three researchers were all surprised, and asked, "Who exactly are you guys? It feels like you’re more than meets the eye."
Ouyang Jin immediately warned, "Exactly, you’d better keep your distance from these people. Otherwise, you’ll get caught up in strange troubles. I’m a living example."
Lu Yi hastily explained, "No, no, we’re just a group of students who haven’t graduated yet. We don’t know how we ended up here. Sometimes things are just out of our control."
Seeing Lu Yi’s dramatic expression, Qiao Ya was incredulous.
The three researchers quickly diverted their attention, searching here and there with anticipation.
Gu Fan watched and sighed quietly. He didn’t believe this AI would hand over the research materials for the space-time door that easily. This AI was tricky.
"Alright, let’s get out of here now." Gu Ling said, and leaned back casually. But he accidentally hit a switch and a storage chip popped out from a machine.
Everyone was struck dumb, not knowing what the thing was, but the three researchers grabbed it immediately, appearing as if they would fight anyone who tried to snatch it from them.
Gu Fan was frustrated by these people and said, "This chip may not be the research data of the space-time door. I think this AI is playing us. After all, how can you trust an AI?"
At this moment, the lady in red jumped in, "No, this is indeed related to the space-time door that you wanted. Consider it your reward for passing the challenge. Although I’m an AI, I keep my word. Looks like someone here is suspecting me with a narrow mind."
After hearing this, everyone stared at Gu Fan, as if urging him to rebut. How could he let an AI out-argue him?
Gu Fan scoffed, "You, who tried to lead us to our death, consider yourself noble?"
To this, the lady in red simply shrugged, "I’ve said that I am here to protect this place, just like defending my homeland. You guys intruded here, it’s natural for me to fulfill my duties. Yes, I am a righteous noble."
"You are really good at twisting the truth." Gu Fan gave up, feeling it was ridiculous to argue with an AI.
Lin Xi intervened, "Enough, next you need to guide us to the place where the control methods for the Destiny Stone are kept. I hope you can keep your word."
"Rest assured, I always keep my word. Follow me." The lady in red led the way and everyone followed suit.
Having experienced a near-death experience, Gu Fan was anxious about what trap the AI may have set at their destination.
Dong Ni became a little disgruntled, "The researchers have taken what they wanted, Gu Fan is also going to get what he wanted, but what about us? We get nothing but risk, is it fair to us?"
Hearing this, Qiao Ya also felt wronged, but there was nothing he could do. The best way for them to exit the place was to stick with Gu Fan. Just based on that, Qiao Ya knew he had no room to bargain with Gu Fan.
This secret base was very big and had multiple layers. Under the lead of the lady in red, everyone started to go down the lower levels. The lady suggested taking the elevator to save time, but everyone chose to take the stairs to be safer.
You guys really don’t trust me at all." The lady in red was a bit annoyed, even puffing up her cheeks, which made people marvel at how human-like expressions she had, truly the creation of a Super Civilization.
Lu Yi replied, "It’s not that we don’t trust you. It’s just that after nearly dying several times at your hands, we are afraid."
"Alright, alright, I got it. If you guys want to take the longer route, so be it." The lady in red continued to lead the way and everyone breathed a sigh of relief.
Gu Fan came forward and asked, "Do you know the status of the other people who entered this secret base? How many of them are still alive?"
"Still many. Once I’m done dealing with you, I will take my time with them. None of them can escape anyway..." Realising she misspoke, the lady in red immediately shut her mouth, gave an awkward smile and said, "Actually, I didn’t mean that. Don’t misunderstand."
Everyone was stunned, a cloud of apprehension looming in their hearts. As expected, the AI harboured bad intentions.
"What should we do? Should we proceed even though we know there’s danger?" Ouyang Jin was genuinely scared, he slowed down and gradually fell behind.
Those who also slowed down were Qiao Ya, Dong Ni, and Su Lei. They were hoping to follow Gu Fan to get out, not to risk their lives.
Shared the same idea with Ouyang Jin, Du Jun also slowed down, thus falling behind the group with Ouyang.
Ouyang Jin looked at Du Jun, feeling pleased. This man was their major sponsor, all their hopes rested on him.
At this point, Su Hui looked back and smiled, "Just so you know, being at the back doesn’t necessarily mean you’re safest. The attack might come from the rear. Are you sure you want to guard our backs?"
Hearing this, Ouyang Jin and Du Jun’s faces darkened, as if they were called cowards. But with their pride at stake, they stated their readiness to stay at the back and protect the others.
Gu Fan didn’t pay any mind to this. In fact, he felt guilty for leading everyone into such a dangerous place. He didn’t ask much of his companions, just that they keep their unity.
