Chapter 639: Chapter 639: Reclaiming One’s Own Ship

They were about to return to the same island where the pirates were. Gu Fan was a little worried about the materials left on the cargo ship. If nothing was left, would he ask the pirates for compensation? They now had a high-powered backer to help settle scores, so he wasn’t afraid to claim debts.

Stretching lazily, Gu Fan noticed Xiaohu, appearing unhappy on the deck. Gu Fan walked over, greeted him, and said, "Xiaohu, I’ve decided that I must fulfill my promise and get you home as soon as possible. So, I’ve talked to the captain and he’s going to arrange for dependable people to take you home with a ship."

On hearing this, Xiaohu was startled, then asked, "Aren’t you going to take me home yourself?"

Gu Fan apologized again, "I’m sorry, but I can’t leave the Triangle Sea Area just yet. I have stuff to do here."

"You guys are strange. Most people don’t dare to approach the Triangle Sea Area, but you guys insist on doing so. Many people have gone there never to return, yet you’ve faced so many terrifying things and have been able to survive so far," Xiaohu looked at Gu Fan with curiosity, seemingly finding him quite extraordinary.

Gu Fan scratched his head, uncertain about how to respond.

Xiaohu asked another question: "Are you not ordinary people? Sister Lin Xi seems very powerful, and that big boss you call seems even more powerful. You’re not afraid of the mist and you dare to fight it out."

Gu Fan wore a look of embarrassment: "Actually, we’re just toughing it out. We’ve been lucky so far and that has helped us overcome difficulties."

Xiaohu pondered for a moment, "If you have things to do, then let me stay with you guys. I don’t know why, but after going through so much with you, I feel safer being with you. If you let someone else take me home, even if we avoid the mist, we may not be able to escape the pirates. I have never seen anyone fight pirates as easily as you."

Hearing this, Gu Fan had to agree. Now that they knew the pattern of the mist, unless necessary, they would not encounter Lisa. As for the pirates, it was a piece of cake with the big boss around.

Theoretically, Xiaohu was safe with Gu Fan, but in reality, Gu Fan was still worried. After all, the Triangle Sea Area, which they had to explore, held many unknown dangers, and there was also the matter of the big boss potentially turning on them.

But for now, the best option was for everyone to stick together. Xiaohu was right. Even if Gu Fan arranged for others to take Xiaohu home first, they might avoid the mist but not necessarily the pirates. Since Xiaohu understood this and was willing to stay, Gu Fan felt this was the most prudent.

"Look, Brother Gu Fan, we’re about to arrive," Xiaohu pointed to an island in the distance where a huge cargo ship was docked.

"Yes, we’re back. Xiaohu, I may not be able to take you home right now, but I can help reclaim the hardships you’ve suffered over the years," said Gu Fan with a smile curling at the corner of his lips.

Upon seeing Gu Fan’s expression, Xiaohu had a hunch that a good show was about to start.

As soon as their ship drew near, pirates spotted them and rushed to the shore with their arms, all pointed at Gu Fan and his party.

The pirates never imagined that a day would come when they would be the ones attacked. They felt it was not only an insult to their occupation but a slap in the face.

The big boss agreed to help Gu Fan, so he jumped up, landing forcefully on the ground causing the entire island to tremble.

Then, without suspense, the big boss fell upon the unwise pirates single-handedly and gave them a severe beating.

Gu Fan, Su Hui, Lin Xi, the captain, and the others returned to the Yongchang Group’s cargo ship, began to repair the equipment and check the supplies. They found that the ship was intact, but more than half of the supplies were gone. No doubt, they were taken by the pirates.

"Since they took it, we take it back," Gu Fan glanced at the big boss, indicating he should take the lead.

The big boss made a bitter face, "Gu Fan, I’ve helped you reclaim your cargo ship, now help you recover the supplies. That makes two times I’ve assisted you. So, our scores are settled."

"You’re really good at business," Gu Fan couldn’t help but scorn him a little. However, helpless as he was, he indeed needed the big boss’s strength and nodded in agreement.

Leng Le also interjected, "Since you agreed, our collaboration formally begins. However, considering previous unpleasantness, we need to rebuild trust. I suggest an exchange of personnel; to put it simply, I’ll come to your side, and you send someone to us."

Gu Fan frowned; he initially wanted to reject it. But Su Hui persuaded him to accept the proposal: First, to recover the supplies, conflicts with pirates were inevitably again. And the big boss could easily handle it. Second, although the cargo ship was retrieved, it was stranded and needed the big boss’s strength to return to the sea. At present, they really needed the big boss’s help.

The injuries his parents suffered were caused by the big boss, making it hard for Gu Fan to forget completely. Gu Fan ground his teeth in resentment.

"Alright, help us this once, and we’ll call it even for the past," Gu Fan knew there were times he had to compromise; this was no longer a personal matter between him and the big boss.

Considering the bigger picture, collaborating with the big boss offered his comrades protection in the face of danger. This was what Gu Fan prioritized. His companions were here for him, and it’s his responsibility to ensure everyone’s safe return, even if it meant cooperating with the enemy.

"Very well, I knew you’re a man of great ambition. Those who forge great deeds have grand strategies and brave hearts," the big boss complimented Gu Fan generously.

Unable to bear it any longer, Lin Xi interrupted, "Enough. Since we have reached a consensus, can we act fast? I really hate this place, and I want to beat up those pirates again."

Upon hearing this, the big boss was puzzled. Judging from Lin Xi’s expression, it seemed she had experienced something unpleasant on this island.

"How about we set fire to this place? The more I look at it, the more it annoys me," Lin Xi was looking forward to this, putting everyone on edge, hastily persuading her. The pirates here were indeed not the best, but the animals and the ecological environment on the island were innocent.

Lin Xi found their reasons convincing, yet she insisted on at least ruining the pirates’ den to give them a taste of their own medicine.

Everyone agreed with Lin Xi’s approach. After retaking the supplies, there was no harm in taking a little more. In addition, they all agreed it’s never a good idea to offend a woman.
