Those Classmates who Suddenly Disappeared -
Chapter 534: Changing the Qi Destiny
Chapter 534: Chapter 534: Changing the Qi Destiny
Pressed for time, after getting through some trivial matters, Boss Ding and Gu Fan immediately purchased sleeper train tickets to return to their city.
With the funding secured, Boss Ding was beaming, "Gu Fan, you’re quite something! If not for your assistance to Boss Lei’s daughter, Boss Lei wouldn’t have aided me once again. I’ll remember your contribution. I’ll give you a raise when we get back."
"Thank you, Boss Ding." Gu Fan wasn’t too enthusiastic. All he wanted to know was how things were with Boss Lei.
Suddenly, Gu Fan’s cellphone lit up with a message from Ning Qi. The gist of it was a thank you for the valuable information Gu Fan had provided which enabled the Shennv Xuanhui to be successfully completed.
"So, it’s balanced now?" Gu Fan knew that if three factions could remain evenly matched, it would maintain a balanced situation; everyone could enjoy a temporary period of peace. As long as no one slipped up, the balance could be a long-lasting one.
Having found the person from the Lei family and maintaining the balance, Gu Fan’s next mission was to decipher the mysteries that the old house held. After all that had happened and all the coincidences— weren’t any of them connected?
Unable to figure it out, Gu Fan was left gazing at the passing scenery through the train window. As night fell and his thoughts wandered, he was finally jolted back by the sound of Boss Ding’s snoring.
Observing Boss Ding sleeping so soundly brought a smile to Gu Fan’s face. If it hadn’t been for meeting Boss Ding, he might have never found the man from the Lei family. Gu Fan was confident of one thing though: it wasn’t a stroke of luck; it was destined. Why destiny had arranged things in this way, he suspected, had something to do with the old house.
Once back in the city, Gu Fan claimed exhaustion and requested a day off to rest. Boss Ding agreed; with the funds now in hand, he was eager to put them to good use and had no time to bother with why Gu Fan was taking the day off.
What Gu Fan planned to do was simple: call a meeting with all his cohorts at his place, conveniently when Gu Ling was at school.
One by one, Lin Xi, Su Hui, Lu Yi, Jie, Xu Haowen, Du Jun, and Qin Jia arrived at Gu Fan’s place. They took their seats, looking at the stern-faced Gu Fan, knowing he had something important to announce.
Heaving a small sigh, Gu Fan mulled things over before beginning to lay out the current situation, "First of all, you all know about this old house of ours. There used to be six families living here, now there’s just ours left."
Their faces collectively expressed, ’We know, keep going,’ and Gu Fan did, "During a recent visit to the city’s historical museum, guess what I found out? Our city originated as a fishing village only consisting of six families."
"My God, what a coincidence!" Everyone was all ears, knowing that Gu Fan’s meetings always held unexpected revelations. Given his current demeanor, they guessed there were probably more astonishing bits to come.
Du Jun seemed to have a hunch, "Wait, is there a connection between these six families from the old house and the original six families of the fishing village?"
Hearing this, everyone stared at Gu Fan, astonished. Gu Fan nodded, "You’re right Du Jun, the last names of the six families are all the same."
No way, not only were there six families in both situations, but their last names were also the same." Everyone found it unbelievable but they trusted Gu Fan’s word. It just seemed too absurd.
"There’s even more to it." Gu Fan’s serious gaze made everyone fall silent, waiting for him to continue.
Gu Fan gave it some thought before adding, "From what I found, the location of the original fishing village on the map corresponds to our current old house. It seems like those six families never really moved."
"Really?" Everyone was taken aback. Du Jun was the first to speak up, "That seems unlikely. The city’s hundreds of years old, and these six families decided not just to stay put but to also reside in the same building."
"That’s right, they stayed put. Although the other five families did eventually move out, they’ve recently expressed interest in moving back. The Luo and Zhu families have the backing of a big boss, the Zhang and Lei families have the support of Shennv Xuanhui, and I persuaded the Liu family to return. What are your thoughts about this?" After Gu Fan finished speaking, everyone looked troubled. The idea of the five families wanting to move back after having moved out, along with the meddling of the big boss and Shennv Xuanhui, left everyone astounded.
Du Jun was the first to react, "I get it. There must be something special about this old house. That’s why they want to move back."
Lu Yi rebutted, "If the old house was special, they shouldn’t have moved out in the first place. It’s not consistent."
Hearing this, Gu Fan frowned. He couldn’t figure out any rational explanation for the other five families moving out.
Lin Xi chipped in, "Let’s put aside the reason why these five families wanted to move out for a moment. But the fact that they want to return after moving out, isn’t normal. And on top of that, the big boss and Shennv Xuanhui are getting involved. Doesn’t this speak volumes?"
"Really?" Everyone began to ponder on the old house further, but they saw nothing out of the ordinary. From an outside view, it even appeared run-down. They wondered what was so appealing about it.
Qin Jia conjectured, "Could the location of this old house be a geomancy hot spot?"
This idea struck Gu Fan. That was it! How had he not thought of it sooner? The key was the location of the old house!
Lu Yi chuckled, "What geomancy hot spot? Since Gu Fan moved here, nothing good has come his way. Even I, who often visits, have experienced bouts of bad luck. How’s that a supposed geomancy hot spot."
Hearing this, Gu Fan remembered the hardships he’d previously faced and felt quite dejected. This was definitely not a geomancy hot spot; no such hot spot would victimize people in this way.
Jie scratched his head, "If this isn’t a geomancy hotspot, then what might it be?"
Something seemed to strike Su Hui. "Perhaps this old house isn’t a geomancy hot spot, but has a different purpose—to change the destiny of those who live there. Through a series of coincidences, it guides the person’s destiny in a certain direction."
"So, Sister Su, you mean this old house has helped arrange for me to meet certain people, go through certain experiences, and completely change my destiny?" As he said this, Gu Fan was utterly shocked. He immediately turned to look at Lin Xi. After all, it was only after he had moved to the old house did he meet Lin Xi.
Seemingly aware of what Gu Fan’s look meant, Lin Xi’s face turned slightly pale.
