Chapter 507: Chapter 507: Figure Out a Way to Break Through

"No, no, something is off here. They must have done something." Gu Fan speculated a possibility and decided to test it. He led Gu Ling on for a bit, to a crossroad and prepared to take a right turn.

Gu Ling immediately warned, "We can’t go there, brother."

"Okay, I got it." Gu Fan hid with Gu Ling in the shadows, carefully observing the situation. Since Gu Ling couldn’t make the turn, this indicated someone was there.

They waited for a while and still couldn’t turn. But no one appeared from the right side of the road, which made Gu Fan suspicious and he figured something out.

"No wonder. This must be your smart trick, Leng Le." Gu Fan concluded. The other party must have arranged for someone to stand on the right and watch. That’s why Gu Ling could sense someone there, but the person’s task was simply to stand there motionlessly, hence nobody seemed to be coming from the right side.

They waited for a little while longer, but there were still no silhouettes and Gu Ling still couldn’t turn right. He wondered, were those people just standing still all the time?

Gu Fan was looking at the map on his phone while stroking his chin in thought. "Ah, Leng Le, if this is your plan, it’s not bad at all. But remember, there’s no place like home. I know this place better than you, not all paths are marked on the map here."

Pressured by time, Gu Fan immediately sprang into action, leading Gu Ling to a high wall that surprisingly had a break. He asked Gu Ling to climb in first, then he followed.

Surprisingly, on the other side of the wall, there was a narrow embankment, too narrow to be marked on the map. The wall was built to prevent people from falling into the river. Gu Fan and Gu Ling carefully followed the embankment, passing under a bridge, effectively bypassing many lines of defence set up by Leng Le.

"Bro, you’re so good at finding paths." Before Gu Ling finished speaking, he saw Gu Fan stop and look around, as if confirming something.

Gu Fan found a low wall and made a human ladder with his hands, signaling Gu Ling to climb over.

After sensing that there was no danger behind the wall, Gu Ling did as Gu Fan indicated and climbed over.

Once they climbed over the wall, Gu Ling found herself in a badly damaged house, incongruous with the surrounding high-rise buildings. The house was on the verge of collapse and could be demolished at any time.

On the other side of the house was a road. Gu Fan and Gu Ling continued on. As soon as they left the area near their home, Gu Ling could no longer sense any danger on the road. She couldn’t help laughing, "Bro, it seems like we’ve escaped."

"We’re not completely out of danger yet, don’t get so excited." Gu Fan knew he couldn’t underestimate Leng Le. If she realized that they had not been captured despite the shrinking encirclement, she would come up with a new plan.

Right at that moment, Leng Le knew that Gu Fan had escaped. She thought it was because her initial search range wasn’t right. But it didn’t matter, she had a second plan.

It was late at night, the streets were quiet with very few pedestrians. The last bus had already left, and according to the reports from her subordinates, no taxis were visible. So if Gu Fan had indeed escaped, he could only rely on his own two legs, which would enormously exhaust his energy.

Leng Ye knew of Gu Fan’s endurance, but he also knew that with Gu Ling along, they certainly wouldn’t be able to keep up. Leng Le wondered what she would do if she was Gu Fan in this situation. Would she hide until dawn, or continue pressing on, or seize the chance to jump on a taxi?

"Let’s start phase two." Leng Le smirked, refusing to believe Gu Fan wouldn’t fall for the trap.

Leng Le’s plan was simple. One of her subordinates was a taxi driver, who she had instructed quite some time ago to wait nearby.

The taxi-driver subordinate then received a pick-up request from a nearby location and reported it to Leng Le.

"Good boy, you didn’t disappoint me." Instead of rushing to act, Leng Le instructed the driver to not startle them if it turned out to be Gu Fan and Gu Ling. Instead, he should take them to the designated location.

Hai came up to her and after glancing at Leng Le, couldn’t help but comment, "Why do I feel like you’re being particularly proactive today, like you’re really excited to outwit Gu Fan?"

"What are you trying to say, that I’m out for revenge?" Leng Le scoffed dismissively, then turned around and left.

Meanwhile, Qian Xue and Ning Qi, who also hadn’t turned up anything, watched the proceedings anxiously for fear of being one-upped by Leng Le.

Ning Qi expressed her anxiety, "What do we do if they’re the ones to catch Gu Fan and Gu Ling? How do we account for this to Big Sister?"

Qian Xue frowned, "We either capture the siblings ourselves, which seems unlikely given our current circumstances unless we’re extremely lucky, or we resort to another plan."

"What plan?" Ning Qi was surprised and hopeful for a turnaround. Then she saw Qian Xue’s doubtful expression and realised that this plan might not be useful.

Qian Xue added, "We follow these people. As soon as they find Gu Fan, we make our move and apprehend Gu Fan before they can."

"Oh, I see. That is indeed a plan. But I’m afraid these people won’t admit it was us who captured Gu Fan." Ning Qi echoed Qian Xue’s worries, that such a move would only create a conflict between the two parties.

It wasn’t that Qian Xue was afraid. In fact, she believed they had a good chance in a head-on confrontation. But the issue was that if a fight broke out, the happiest party would be the siblings who were trying to escape.

At this moment, one of the people controlled by Qian Ying approached and whispered, "It seems like the people are gathering in a certain direction, and from their high spirits, it doesn’t seem like a retreat, more like they’re moving to hunt."

In response, Qian Xue nodded, "I think these people know where Gu Fan is, that’s why they’re all rushing there. But the question is how they know."

Ning Qi had the same question, "They don’t have more people than us. Their people are deployed all around, and so are ours. We all are at the same starting point, so why are they one step ahead in locating Gu Fan."

"Enough, let’s move on this conversation. We need to find Gu Fan. This is what Big Sister repeatedly stressed on." Qian Xue was still walking as she spoke. Under her command, Ning Qi, along with people controlled by Qian Ying, moved towards a specific direction.
