"Things related to Gu Fan?" Ning Qi found this odd. Why was Zhang Yang so proactive about intervening with Gu Fan today?

Zhang Yang nodded, "Yeah, about Gu Fan. Like, what sort of personality he has, what’s his temper like, any disgraceful things he’s done, any dirt you might have on him, and so on. If you tell me these things, I’ll confront Gu Fan on your behalf."

"Thank you, Zhang Yang!" Ning Qi made a grateful gesture, but she had no intention of causing trouble for Gu Fan. All of this was due to a grudge between Shennv Xuanhui and Lin Xi; she had only been caught up in the middle, inexplicably.

Seeing that Ning Qi didn’t seem to want to talk, Zhang Yang insisted, "I know you and Gu Fan must have had conflicts. You might not want to talk about that, but surely you can talk about other things? How else can I confront him on your behalf?"

Being asked repeatedly about Gu Fan, Ning Qi felt even more strange, "What’s going on, Zhang Yang? It seems like you really hate Gu Fan."

For this, Zhang Yang had prepared a response, "Didn’t you say that you had conflicts with Gu Fan? I am your friend, of course I ought to help you. Surely you’re not doubting my intentions."

"Of course not?" Ning Qi held real doubts but was unable to voice them.

Just then, Qian Ying came out. Seeing Zhang Yang and Ning Qi there, she was slightly surprised, "Nice, Ning Qi, you’ve hooked up another one."

"What are you talking about? Look closely, he’s my friend!" Ning Qi rushed to explain, while Qian Ying and Zhang Yang exchanged glances. Suddenly, a peculiar feeling rose in Zhang Yang’s heart.

Zhang Yang had seen Qian Ying before. When he came to visit Ning Qi, he always saw Qian Ying, assuming that she was Ning Qi’s friend.

He remembered that one time, during Yang Xinran’s campus welcome party, he and Yang Xinran were having a good time when he received a call from Ning Qi, implying that he should bring Yang Xinran over to the teaching building without asking any questions.

As a result, Zhang Yang brought Yang Xinran to the building. Stepping inside, it was pitch black, an ideal place for a secret rendezvous. Yang Xinran immediately misunderstood Zhang Yang’s intentions and felt both embarrassed and annoyed.

Then Qian Ying appeared, which surprised Zhang Yang. He wanted to inquire more, but his consciousness began to blur inexplicably.

When he regained his senses, he found himself at the campus gate. He had no idea where Yang Xinran had gone, and he was terrified. What in the world happened? How did he end up at the campus gate?

Zhang Yang immediately dialed Yang Xinran’s cellphone and found out he was just as confused. Yang Xinran remembered that not long ago, they were both on a date, but suddenly he found himself in a small woods with his roommate, Lin Xi, standing nearby.

Although Lin Xi claimed Yang Xinran had been sleepwalking, Yang Xinran didn’t remember ever going back to his dorm room to sleep.

Zhang Yang knew it couldn’t be a coincidence that he and Yang Xinran both started sleepwalking. There must have been something strange going on. So he tried to remember what he saw before he blacked out.

When Qian Ying casts a spell, once she takes control of a person, she can erase their memories of her.

That’s why when Zhang Yang and Yang Xinran woke up, they didn’t remember encountering Qian Ying in the dark teaching building and thus didn’t suspect her at all.

But Zhang Yang had this hazy image in his mind. Now, facing Qian Ying, for some reason, an odd feeling surfaced in his heart, overlapping Qian Ying with the hazy image.

Qian Ying hadn’t noticed Zhang Yang’s internal struggle and smilingly asked, "What’s the matter? Did Gu Fan bully Ning Qi? Are you so eager to avenge her, Zhang Yang? Then you should teach Gu Fan a good lesson."

"No problem, that’s why I’m here," Zhang Yang responded naturally but his gaze remained on Qian Ying.

Qian Ying smiled slightly, "You’re so considerate of Ning Qi. It seems you two really are good friends. But why are you staring at me?"

"Ah, that..." Zhang Yang was embarrassed and quickly diverted his gaze.

Qian Ying asked curiously, "I want to know, Ning Qi wanted to find Gu Fan and Lin Xi, so why are you only interested in Gu Fan? And why are you so keen to learn about him?"

Upon hearing this, Zhang Yang’s heart skipped a beat. He thought, indeed targeting only Gu Fan will raise suspicion. Why hadn’t he considered that?

After a moment’s thought, Zhang Yang fabricated a reason, "Although I want to help Ning Qi, as a man, I can’t just pick a fight with Lin Xi, so I could only target Gu Fan."

"You have a point. As a man, it would really be unseemly to target a woman," Qian Ying agreed. Then she waved her hand, "Alright, I won’t disturb you two any longer. Catch up at your leisure. As for handling Gu Fan, I’m counting on you, Zhang Yang," She waved again as she turned to leave.

Zhang Yang felt slightly embarrassed. After exchanging a few words with Ning Qi, he left without lingering.

On the balcony above, Qian Feng, Qian Xue, and Qian Ying watched Zhang Yang leave with reflective expressions.

Soon after, Ning Qi also came up to the balcony and greeted respectfully, "Big Sis!"

Qian Feng asked, "Ning Qi, does Zhang Yang know that you’ve had conflicts with Gu Fan? Has he ever offered to stand up on your behalf before?"

In response, Ning Qi shook her head, "He has mentioned it before, but Zhang Yang only ever mentioned lending a helping hand. He’s never been as proactive as he is today. I find it strange too."

"This is not simple. Zhang Yang, constantly inquiring about Gu Fan, seems to be less interested in you and more interested in Gu Fan."
