Chapter 487: Such a Coincidence
Chapter 487: Chapter 487: Such a Coincidence
Waking up to a brand new day, Gu Fan was greeted by the cheerful sunlight outside, which brought a sigh of relief. He had been truly worried that after rescuing Lin Xi, Qian Feng might have been angered to the point of bringing another snowstorm.
Additionally, Gu Fan was concerned about Lin Xi. After going back home the night before, she would have had to explain her period of disappearance. Gu Fan had used Lin Xi’s phone to send her parents a message, claiming that she had been involved in a winter vacation program at school, requiring her to be away for several days. He could only hope this excuse would suffice.
Early in the morning, Gu Fan received a call from Lin Xi, so he rushed to answer, "What’s up, Miss Lin, were you scolded when you got back home?"
Lin Xi gave a bitter laugh, "Of course I was scolded. Even though you gave me a good excuse, my parents were still suspicious. After all, I left home without any preparation or packing any clothes. I simply sent them a message saying I was following my teacher to attend an activities outside."
Gu Fan felt helpless, "Then what should we do? Your parents called you during this period, and I couldn’t answer the phone. If I did, it would have given our game away."
"I know, so my mom grilled me all last night. I was already feeling dizzy, I felt like my head was about to explode from her nagging." Lin Xi complained, then she added, "You know, my mom thinks I have a boyfriend and suspects that I spent these past few days at your place. I think you understand what comes next..."
After hearing this, Gu Fan felt wronged, "What does that mean? Do they already have a bad impression of me in their hearts?"
"Probably, I mean, the person who deceives their precious daughter to stay at his house for several days and nights can’t be a decent guy." Lin Xi’s words sank Gu Fan’s spirit, "Then what we do, maybe you could go for an examination to prove our innocence."
"Screw you." Lin Xi laughed and cursed.
Gu Fan asked again, "So, how are you feeling now?"
"So-so. I’m still feeling dizzy, not in great spirits. Luckily, I looked quite sick, otherwise, my parents would never let me off the hook so easily." Lin Xi sounded weak. She was surprised to see her father changing his shoes and asked, "Dad, where are you going?"
"I’m going to your school to talk to your teachers and find out if there is really such an activity. If I find out you lied to me, I’ll break your legs."
Lin Xi quickly protested, "But dad, it’s the winter vacation, teachers are also off. Even if you go to the school, you won’t find any."
"That’s okay, maybe I will bump into a teacher on duty, then I can ask them."
Seeing her dad was so determined and had already left the house, Lin Xi became anxious. This was going to be a big problem.
At this moment, Lin Xi was extremely anxious and the only person she could seek help from was her boyfriend, "What should I do, what should I do, Gu Fan, please think of a solution quickly. If I get caught, my parents will lock me up at home."
But Gu Fan seemed quite indifferent, "Don’t you know magic? Who could possibly confine you at home?"
Lin Xi shook her head, "That’s a no-no. I can’t use magic on my parents, that’s not right."
"Alright then, there is only one solution. You must quickly find Du Jun, let him communicate with the school teachers and help you out here. Won’t this solve the issue?" Gu Fan’s solution made Lin Xi pause, then she praised, "As expected of my boyfriend, you are dependable in times of crisis. Alright, I have to go find Du Jun now. I love you." With that, Lin Xi happily hung up the call.
Gu Fan grinned and left his room to knock on Su Hui’s door. There was no response, so he assumed she had went to work.
In addition to being worried about Lin Xi, Gu Fan was also worried about Su Hui. Not because the battle yesterday was dangerous or severe, but because following the battle, despite how tired Lin Xi felt, she had cast a spell to heal everyone’s injuries as a token of her gratitude.
Su Hui’s problems lay in the re-emergence of Zhuo Hang. This was already the second time he had come to Su Hui’s aid in a dire situation. Was this a form of atonement, or was he intending to win back Su Hui?
Gu Fan felt an aversion towards Zhuo Hang. He didn’t want Zhuo Hang to get any closer to Su Hui again, for reasons that were more than just Zhuo Hang hurting Su Hui in the past.
Next, Gu Fan knocked on his sister’s door, only to find that she wasn’t there either. He thought to himself, where could she have gone so early in the morning?
When he went downstairs, he spotted a note on the table. It turned out that Gu Ling had gone out for a beauty treatment with their mother.
Now Gu Fan was left alone in the old house for breakfast. For some reason, he felt odd. Ever since Gu Ling’s return, an invisible energy seemed to have filled the atmosphere. Sometimes, Gu Fan would suddenly feel as if his body had been infused with a clear stream of energy, making him feel incredibly comfortable.
Having breakfast alone seemed too lonely, so, feeling lazy, Gu Fan decided to go to Uncle Zhang’s restaurant.
As he stepped outside, he took in a deep breath of the crisp cold air, then set off to the bustling city streets, which had been cleared of the recent snow, bringing a fresh vitality to the city.
When Gu Fan arrived at Uncle Zhang’s restaurant, he greeted warmly. Given the restaurant’s exceptional tastes, it was always bustling with patrons. Gu Fan didn’t pay much attention to who the customers were, he just looked for an empty seat.
It took a while for Gu Fan to find an empty seat, but when he got there, he found himself stopped in his tracks. Sitting there were two people he knew, Yang Xinran and Zhang Yang.
Seeing Gu Fan, both Yang Xinran and Zhang Yang were surprised, each wearing an expression that said they couldn’t believe this coincidence.
Gu Fan was the first to speak, "What a surprise to see you both here."
Zhang Yang replied, "This restaurant is owned by my uncle, so I come here occasionally. Plus, his cooking skills are incredible, so I brought Xinran here to try it."
"What, Uncle Zhang is your relative?" This revelation surprised Gu Fan, he hadn’t expected this connection.
It was Yang Xinran’s turn to speak, "Gu Fan, what brings you here for breakfast? Do you live nearby?"
Gu Fan nodded in response, "Yes, I do live nearby, in an old house."
Upon hearing the words ’old house’, Zhang Yang’s eyebrows furrowed as he quickly asked, "What do the old house look like? It wouldn’t happen to be the one that our Zhang family used to live in, would it?"
"Yes, that’s the one. We are really fated." Gu Fan responded casually, but in his heart, he was astounded. What a coincidence!
