Those Classmates who Suddenly Disappeared
Chapter 344: There is Hope Again

Chapter 344: Chapter 344: There is Hope Again

Walking down the mountain, everyone was looking around, hoping to find some materials swept away by the avalanche. Even a single tent or some food would do, just something to sustain them for a while.

Gu Fan silently prayed to find a few sleeping bags or so - anything that would tide them over in the chilling weather till rescue arrived. They don’t need to find too much. Gu Fan also didn’t think it was likely they’d find a wealth of useful items, enough to support their continued journey.

Half a day of searching yielded nothing. Like Gu Fan predicted, everyone was increasingly disheartened and seemed to lose hope. That was what Gu Fan wanted. He would prefer if everyone started thinking about retreating.

However, fate seemed to have a mind of its own. Luo Jingrong’s sharp eyes spotted something unusual sticking out of the snow. On closer inspection, it was a pole supporting a tent. Suddenly, everyone saw a beacon of hope and started digging through the snow.

"This can’t be happening," Gu Fan gritted his teeth secretly. Finding a tent meant that they could have shelter from the storm anytime, anywhere, making it easier for the group to continue their journey.

All Gu Fan could hope for now was that the tent was too damaged to be used.

However, the materials that Du Changhui and Luo Jingrong had chosen were top-notch and highly durable. Although parts of it were damaged, it wasn’t too severe; its poles were just broken.

Gu Fan let out a sigh of relief, for without the poles, even the best tent would be useless.

What Gu Fan didn’t expect was that the tent had contained many items before. Despite being hit by an avalanche, losing most of the supplies, a part of them got bundled up with the tent. In that bundle, there were spare tent poles.

"This can’t be real?" It was Gu Fan’s turn to be disappointed now. The materials bundled with the tent weren’t many, but there was some food. Now, Gu Fan and his group would have to rely on these supplies.

"Kid, your plan was brilliant, and we’re also lucky." Du Changhui was thrilled, having forgotten about his previous discontent.

"It seems that fate compels us to press on." Gu Fan knocked on his head, the corners of his mouth forming a bitter smile.

With this discovery, old man Tian suggested: "Well, let’s keep moving and see whether we can find other things."

Everyone, having seen hope again, agreed with old man Tian’s proposal. One by one, they followed him further down the mountain.

Yet, Gu Fan thought that finding these few items wasn’t enough for them to continue the journey. Even three days out seemed impossible. A tent wasn’t enough to stave off the cold; they needed sleeping bags.

At this moment, Leng Le suddenly said: "I was captured by them before. I know the location of their camp. Maybe it’s still there. We may find what we need there."

Upon hearing this, everyone’s spirit was stirred up, and a spark of hope glowed anew.

Gu Fan sighed quietly. He wasn’t upset with Leng Le, who fouled his plans. He believed that Leng Le simply didn’t comprehend the current situation and just hoped to help everyone out of this predicament.

As they continued walking, they found a camp. It belonged to the bosses from before. As it was far away from the avalanche, it wasn’t damaged. After Hai returned with a few survivors, they took everything of use they could carry.

Du Changhui and the rest were the beneficiaries this time. Scavenging through the tents, they found a wealth of supplies, including food and sleeping bags - enough to meet their needs.

"Great, we have supplies again. We can move on," Du Changhui and the others, exhilarated, jumped in joy. They believed that a new lease on life meant good fortune; this must be an augury that they could chase immortality now.

What Du Changhui didn’t know was that all of this was orchestrated by Leng Le. She had previously texted Hai via phone, and knowing that his camp was untouched, asked him to leave some supplies for Du Changhui’s team to help them move on.

Given the current situation, Gu Fan had no choice but to agree to press on. However, after surviving a near-death experience, everyone was exhausted. There were enough supplies to allow everyone some rest. Gu Fan suggested a pause, to which Du Changhui raised no objections.

Du Changhui even thought that Gu Fan’s presence in the team was essential. Without his idea and the guidance from Gu Fan’s girlfriend, they would have not been able to regain their forward momentum.

While everyone was celebrating, one person couldn’t share their joy - Ning Qi. Seeing Gu Fan and Leng Le together, she recalled hearing that the two were a couple, filling her with jealousy. She had assumed that she could get Gu Fan, but who’d have thought...

"No, I won’t give up just like this," Ning Qi was still thinking of ways to get close to Gu Fan. She admired him and felt that she could only survive in this team by relying on him. More to it, Ning Qi didn’t believe she was worse than Leng Le.

As Ning Qi was grinding her teeth silently, filled with envy, Lin Xi silently stood by her side. He softly said to her: "No need to daydream. This guy won’t fall into your badger game so easily. You and him, it’s impossible."

"What do you mean?" Ning Qi already had a fearful attitude towards Lin Xi. She had witnessed Lin Xi’s seemingly supernatural abilities and knew that this group was anything but ordinary. It was best not to offend someone like that.

Lin Xi spoke again: "Actually, to survive, you don’t necessarily have to rely on Gu Fan. There’s another person who’s more capable than him you could consider."

"You’re not talking about yourself, are you?" Ning Qi looked at Lin Xi in utter astonishment, and Lin Xi nodded: "As long as you join me and follow my orders, I can ensure you safely return home. But I can’t guarantee the same for Gu Fan."

"This..." After some serious thought, Ning Qi decided she would rather follow Lin Xi.

Lin Xi smiled smugly, and said: "First, remember this, don’t let Gu Fan know that you’re with me. Also, your first task is to get close to Gu Fan by any means necessary."

Ning Qi felt confused and asked: "Haven’t you just said that it’s impossible between Gu Fan and me?"

"If others say it’s impossible, are you not willing to try?" Lin Xi finished his sentence with a meaningful smile, then patted Ning Qi on the shoulder, hinting that she can go ahead and he’ll always have her back.

After some thought, Ning Qi glanced at Lin Xi meaningfully: "Are you trying to get me to start a fight between Gu Fan and Leng Le to ruin their relationship?"

"Let me give you some advice, when I ask you to do something, don’t ask why." With that, Lin Xi turned and walked away indifferently.
