Those Classmates who Suddenly Disappeared -
Chapter 333: Another Plan
Chapter 333: Chapter 333: Another Plan
Now that they had a plan of action, all that was left was to wait for the injured to recover before they set off. But seeing the wounded cry out in pain from time to time, everyone thought that it would take forever.
Ning Qi didn’t understand why they had to wait for these people to recover before setting off. Wasn’t this a waste of time?
In fact, Lin Xi and Du Jun were troubled. Lin Xi had promised to lead these people toward immortality, so they couldn’t leave anyone behind. If they did, people might fear being abandoned and worry about missing the chance to become immortal.
"Alright, I’ll push myself a bit for us to set off sooner." Lin Xi started forming a seal with her hands and chanting a mantra. Her aura began to rise, and even without any wind, her hair danced in the air.
Not only was Lin Xi glowing faintly, but the wounded were as well. Even more miraculous was their quickly healing wounds. Lin Xi was accelerating their recovery with her supernatural powers.
Once again, Ning Qi was shocked. She hurried over to Gu Fan, tugged on his sleeve, and asked quietly, "Gu Fan, tell me, what kind of person is your ex-girlfriend? Are you even human?"
Gu Fan shook his head and gave a bitter smile, "Good question. I’d like to know too."
About ten minutes later, all the injured were substantially better and able to move around. The impressive abilities Lin Xi had shown made them admire her even more, and further convinced them that Lin Xi could lead them to immortality.
"Alright, let’s rest for one more day before we set off." Lin Xi was covered in sweat. The use of her power this time was a great drain, and she needed to rest.
No one objected to this. But seeing the exhausted Lin Xi and the almost fanatical admiration of the people around her, Gu Fan had a complex look on his face. He then made a decision.
"Sister Su, I need your advice." Gu Fan walked over to Su Hui and told her his plan.
"Are you serious? You’re going to do this?" Su Hui sounded worried and whispered, "Aren’t you afraid Lin Xi will blow her top and really take your life?"
Gu Fan sighed, "If it comes to that, then there’s nothing I can do. I’ll just have to accept it. But as old man Tian once said, dealing with one devil is enough."
"Alright, if you’ve made up your mind, I’ll have to unconditionally stand on your side." Su Hui’s words were undoubtedly the strongest support for Gu Fan and helped him gather his resolve.
Just as Gu Fan walked a few steps away, he suddenly had a strange feeling and turned back, seeing Lin Xi watching him from a distance with an inscrutable gaze.
"You’re kidding, right?" Gu Fan remembered Lin Xi had the ability to read minds, and his heart pounded. He thought to himself, "She couldn’t possibly know about my plan, could she?"
Lin Xi merely glanced at him before turning away indifferently, not seeming to care about what was happening with Gu Fan.
Gu Fan was startled. If Lin Xi had really seen through him, should he run away now? With Lin Xi’s power greatly drained, there might be a chance for him to escape.
"No, that won’t work..." Gu Fan knew the odds were against him. Lin Xi had many people on her side. Even if he could get away, others like Lu Yi might not be able to. Gu Fan didn’t want his rash actions to result in harm to everyone.
Gu Fan thought to himself, if Lin Xi had really seen through his plan, she would have taken action already. It might be worth testing this out.
At this moment, Gu Fan noticed that Ning Qi was questioning Lu Yi persistently, looking very curious. Lu Yi, on the other hand, looked reluctant. Some things were hard to say.
Gu Fan didn’t bother too much with that and saw old man Tian cleaning up. He walked over and started chatting, "Old man, based on your estimate, when can we reach the peak of the nearest mountain?"
"We’re halfway up the mountain right now. If our luck is good, it will take five days. If not, ten." The old man pointed towards the mountain peak and continued, "The higher we go, the steeper it becomes. It also becomes more difficult, and we need to watch out for sudden blizzards."
"It does sound challenging. Perhaps we should retreat now." At Gu Fan’s words, old man Tian looked frightened, "What do you mean, lad? You were the one who convinced me to abandon my old beliefs and desires to guard this place. You persuaded me to pursue personal gains. I managed to change my ways, and now you’re giving up?"
"I’m just wondering if it’s worth pursuing these elusive things?" Gu Fan looked skeptical, but the old man snorted coldly, "Just to make it clear, if you’re giving up, I’m not. You can leave, but I’ll continue leading the troop."
"Old man, your transformation is rather total, huh." Gu Fan felt helpless. Back then, he had allied with Lin Xi out of necessity and had to convince the old man to ally with them. Now the situation had changed a bit, and the old man was deeply involved. Gu Fan felt like he had wronged the old man.
Not to mention the old man, Ouyang Jin, Ning Qi, and Lu Yi all yearned for immortality. It was irresistible, even more attractive than wealth and power.
Gu Fan suddenly felt a great deal of pressure. He was about to do something for his own benefit that could anger everybody. He felt terrible for taking advantage of everyone’s hard work and companionship.
But thankfully, Gu Fan had the support of Su Hui. It was his only consolation. Now he needed to convince Lu Yi and Jie to stand by him, hoping that these two close friends would understand his upcoming actions.
When Gu Fan found Lu Yi and Jie and told them his plan, they looked despondent and asked with pleading eyes, "Really?"
Gu Fan shook his head and sighed, "I’m sorry. Compared to chasing after immortality, I hope we can all return home safely. I think this is the most feasible way to do it."
"Alright, even though I’m disappointed, I accept it. After all, immortality wasn’t my original goal when I started." Lu Yi smiled and gave a thumbs-up with Jie to show their support for Gu Fan.
Jie also shrugged, "I also feel that going home is more practical."
"Thank you both. Now I can commit to this decision." Gu Fan felt comforted. These two friends indeed hadn’t been made in vain.
"Get ready. There will be a drastic change tomorrow, and maybe..." Gu Fan had considered all sorts of outcomes, good and bad. But if they could end all this sooner, Gu Fan was willing to take a gamble.
