Chapter 323: Chapter 323: Meeting the Enemy on a Narrow Path

"You are..." Lin Xi slightly frowned, trying to finish her sentence, but Gu Fan interrupted, "You don’t need to know who I am. All you need to know is that I am a friend of justice. I resolutely oppose people like you who betray trust and toy with people’s feelings. I am just like that - upright in pursuit of justice. If you have the courage, bite me."

Having heard his words, Lin Xi was left fuming with anger. "Is that you, Gu Fan?"

"Sorry, you’ve mistaken me for someone else." Gu Fan thought, with his face mask, goggles, and cap on besides deliberately lowering his voice when speaking, there was no way Lin Xi could have recognized him.

"Although I’m not Gu Fan, I’ve heard of him. He’s brave, kind, honest, respects his teachers and gets along with his classmates. He is especially gentle with his girlfriend. Anyone that hurts him is a bad person." Gu Fan’s words left Lin Xi speechless, almost rolling her eyes in frustration.

Of course, Lin Xi wasn’t going to let Gu Fan go easily. She sternly warned, "Put down the blueprint, heed my advice, and go back to live a peaceful life of studying. That’s what you should be doing."

"Study what? I’m not Gu Fan, you’ve got the wrong person. I am here to uphold justice and thwart the plans of an evil woman like you." Gu Fan kept denying, and as a result, Lin Xi got angry. "I possess supernatural powers. I can see through your disguise with my own eyes. Stop pretending."

Gu Fan was the one who was unhappy after hearing this. "What the hell is this? You’ve got this ability and you didn’t tell me earlier? I went through all that trouble to disguise myself. You did this on purpose."

Impressed by his deflection, Lin Xi almost choked with anger but managed to suppress it. "Enough of this. You may leave, but leave the blueprint behind."

"Give me a reason to play along. Otherwise, I’d rather die than submit." Gu Fan adopted an unyielding stance, making things difficult for Lin Xi. Despite this, Lin Xi was confident she could handle it and replied, "Because at the snap of my fingers, you will kneel before me. Is that reason enough for you to cooperate?"

"Fine. I’ll cooperate. You’re quite powerful after all," Gu Fan grinned, pretending to be accommodating before adding, "How about I give you a suggestion as well? Obey me, and I promise you won’t get hurt."

Laughing heartily, Lin Xi gloated, "Look at Gu Fan, master of jokes. It has been a long while since I laughed this hard. I thank you for that."

Suddenly, a figure flew over and tackled Lin Xi, handing her a taser pointed at her neck. Lin Xi felt a chill down her spine as she heard a familiar voice in her ear. "Listen to Gu Fan, he’s not joking."

"Sister Su, stop fooling around. We’re best friends. Let’s not jeopardize our relationship!" Lin Xi instantly surrendered, realizing her mantra couldn’t beat Su Hui with a press of a button.

Seeing Su Hui successfully stopping Lin Xi, Gu Fan sighed in relief. "Sister Su, you’re so defiant. I told you not to follow me. You should have stayed behind to protect everyone."

"I was worried about you! Of course, I had to come along! And looking at the situation, coming here was the right thing to do. How would you have handled this on your own?" Su Hui reasoned, leaving Gu Fan no room for refutation.

Next was the matter of how to deal with Lin Xi. Gu Fan flashed a smirk, "Ah, my ex-girlfriend, your skin looks better and better. I really want to kiss you again." After saying this, Gu Fan pinched Lin Xi’s cheek, drawing eye rolls from both Lin Xi and Su Hui.

Hearing the sounds of battle outside, Lin Xi got anxious. "Enough, both of you. Please, prioritize the bigger picture. Deal with these snow monsters first."

"No, no, we don’t want to fight the snow monsters. This aligns with your expectations for me to live a mundane life of studying." Gu Fan’s reason for refusing infuriated Lin Xi but she didn’t care anymore and kicked Gu Fan out of annoyance.

"You’re getting more and more violent. The old Lin Xi was better." Just as Gu Fan finished, Lin Xi retorted, "The old Gu Fan wouldn’t piss people off like you."

Gu Fan scoffed, "If you hadn’t changed first, how would I have been hurt? If I hadn’t been hurt, why would I have changed?"

Lin Xi responded defiantly, "People change for various internal and external reasons. Many attribute changes to external factors as a way of hiding the internal ones."

Watching Gu Fan and Lin Xi arguing, Su Hui was speechless. "What the hell are you two doing? We don’t have time for your petty squabbles. Both of you, listen to me," she shouted.

Agreeing without hesitation, Gu Fan and Lin Xi nodded as Su Hui suggested they share custody of the blueprint and unite to fight the snow monsters.

Given the situation, Lin Xi reluctantly agreed to share the blueprint with Gu Fan. Gu Fan, on the other hand, didn’t look too pleased either. He had had the upper hand but now he was forced to share it with Lin Xi.

"Alright, now that you two have divided your spoils, you can work together on defeating the monsters." Su Hui picked up a shotgun, ready to join the battle.

Gu Fan quickly stopped her, "Sister Su, don’t create a ruckus. Remember what the professor said? Any noise could trigger an avalanche."

Hearing this, Su Hui furrowed her brows. This was a tough situation.

But Lin Xi managed to reassure her, "Don’t worry, Sister Su. I’ve isolated this area using my supernatural power. So you won’t be detected. You can go all out."

"Go all out, just so I can help you, right?" Gu Fan looked at her disdainfully, which got Lin Xi frustrated again. But she held it in and ran over to Su Hui to complain, "Sister Su, look at Gu Fan, always trying to anger me. This is not helpful for our cooperation at all."

Su Hui immediately blamed Gu Fan, "What do you want, Gu Fan? How can you, a grown man, behave so pettily towards a woman? Where is your integrity?"

"This... Sister Su, you...I..." Gu Fan was at a loss for words. He never thought that Su Hui would take Lin Xi’s side, let alone see Lin Xi sticking her tongue out at him from behind Su Hui.

"All right, all right, my bad. I apologize to both Sister Su and Lin Xi." Gu Fan knew better than to defy two women at once. Therefore, he conceded. Or else, they could easily gang up against him.

Sounds of a monstrous roar and cries of pain continued to resound from outside. "Qin Jia is still out there. If something happens to her, you’ll have a hard time explaining it to Professor Luo," Lin Xi said anxiously.

"Fine, I will help you, for Professor Luo’s sake." Finding an opportunity to save face, Gu Fan agreed right away.
