Chapter 255: Interception Midway
Chapter 255: Chapter 255: Interception Midway
"Absence makes the heart grow fonder," they say, especially for the newlyweds Yuan Cheng and Liu Yao who were facing a separation soon after their marriage. Yuan Cheng had stayed for more than ten days, far longer than Leng Le and Hai had expected.
However, no matter how unwilling, Yuan Cheng had to return to his home country. Even though his unique circumstances allowed him to take an extended leave, he was aware of the negative influence his absence might cast among his colleagues.
Liu Yao personally drove Yuan Cheng to the airport. Their male and female bodyguards followed in another car, a precaution insisted upon by Liu Yao so they wouldn’t be disturbed.
When it was time for him to board the plane, it was evident that Liu Yao was reluctant to let him go, this wasn’t the newlywed life she had envisioned. Liu Yao realized she was deeply in love with Yuan Cheng and couldn’t stand being apart from him.
Yuan Cheng felt the same. He held Liu Yao’s hand tightly and gazed at his wife, causing Yuan Cheng to desire to stay more than ever. As the boarding announcements were made, Yuan Cheng gave Liu Yao a gentle kiss on her forehead before parting, reassuring her, "Don’t worry, I’ll sort things out at work and be back with you soon."
"Okay!" Although reluctant to let go, Liu Yao could only comply, waving goodbye as she watched Yuan Cheng board the plane.
Everything was being watched by someone, Yuan Cheng boarding the plane, Liu Yao leaving the airport. Then the swift report of which car Liu Yao was in and the license plate was made.
When Hai and the female supervisor received the information, they were already lying in wait en route to Liu Yao’s home. Before their operation began, Hai made an announcement, "Remember, this time will be different. There won’t be any local law enforcement to cover our tracks. Instead, they’ll be on our tail, so be careful. Retreat immediately to the designated spot after the mission is complete."
"Okay, we understand." Cui Qi and the others also got moving, each getting into three separate cars.
The plan was to have the first car overturn Liu Yao’s vehicle. The car Hai was in would block the path of the bodyguards’ car, then the female supervisor and Cui Qi’s vehicle would promptly move in to take Liu Yao away.
Fate seemed to be on their side. Due to Yuan Cheng’s late flight and the long journey, it was already eight in the evening by the time Liu Yao was returning home. At this hour, there were fewer pedestrians on the streets.
To ensure the plan went smoothly, Hai had ordered a drone to scout the area to ensure Liu Yao’s vehicle was approaching before striking.
"Here she comes. Everyone get ready." Hai and his crew were parked at the crossroads. Upon seeing Liu Yao’s car approach from another road, they immediately sprang into action.
Whether they could overturn Liu Yao’s car was key, so the pressure was huge on the first car. Taking a deep breath as Liu Yao’s car approached the intersection, the driver hit the accelerator full throttle, aiming right at her.
Just then, something unexpected happened. Liu Yao was driving calmly when she was abruptly cut off by a reckless driver, forcing her to brake hard. Outraged, Liu Yao was about to curse, "How come there are always a few jerks in every country?"
The next thing Liu Yao saw left her dumbfounded. Another van suddenly shot out from the opposite end of the intersection, toppling the car that had just cut her off. The impact was so strong that it flipped the car several times.
Her complexion changing, Liu Yao quickly turned the steering wheel to avoid crashing into them. Before she could understand what was happening, two more vans that looked identical to the previous one were heading towards her.
Similarly, Hai’s face changed, "Screw it, go ahead with the original plan. I’ll block the bodyguards. Cui Qi, you guys go after Liu Yao." With that, Hai’s car blocked the bodyguards’ vehicle.
"What’s going on?" The male and female bodyguards sensed something wrong and quickly got out of the car, intending to run over and ensure Liu Yao’s safety.
But when Hai and his masked group appeared, it dawned on the bodyguards that things didn’t look good. Likewise, Liu Yao noticed all this, while another van was driving towards her. She quickly revved the car and turned to flee.
"Don’t let her escape." The female supervisor gave a cold snort, flooring the accelerator to chase after Liu Yao.
"Damn it, get out of my way," the male bodyguard was the first to react, exchanging blows with Hai. Each side held their ground, creating a stalemate.
The female bodyguard, skilled as she was, faced four of Hai’s subordinates. Unable to get away, she could only watch helplessly as Liu Yao’s car got further and further away.
At that moment, Liu Yao was driving at high-speed, her mind in utter chaos. What was happening? Why was someone trying to kill me? Who are they? Can somebody tell me what to do?
Suddenly, a pedestrian started to cross the street, and it was then that Liu Yao noticed the red light. She slammed on the brakes, but it was too late, and she ran straight into him.
Out of options, Liu Yao desperately swerved the wheel, resulting in the car losing control and crashing into the roadside barrier. The substantial shock stunned Liu Yao, making her feel dizzy and unwell.
However, seeing the chasing car closing in through the rearview mirror, Liu Yao couldn’t afford to hesitate any longer. She started up the car again, only to find it was malfunctioning. A sense of despair rushed over her.
Not having the time to consider any further, Liu Yao quickly got out of the car. Seizing the small window of opportunity before the pursuers could catch up, she dashed into a narrow street nearby. The area was filled with narrow streets where a car couldn’t pass.
"Don’t let her escape." The female supervisor and Cui Qi also exited their car to give chase, knowing if they didn’t capture Liu Yao this time, it would be harder to catch her as she would be on her guard.
Thus, a chase ensued on the streets and back alleys. On the one hand, the complex network of streets in the area aided Liu Yao in shaking off her pursuers. On the other hand, she was unfamiliar with the area and was running around in panic, there was a risk that she could run into the enemy.
While running, Liu Yao thought to call the police and quickly dialed the number, only to find that the signal was weak. Her luck was really running out.
"Oh god! What should I do?" As Liu Yao continued running, she spotted several men wearing masks not far off. Cui Qi and the female supervisor also spotted Liu Yao and immediately chased after her.
Liu Yao had no choice but to run, changing direction randomly in her panic. Occasionally turning right, occasionally left, hoping for her luck to hold out. She was still young, she had only just gotten married. Hadn’t she just begun her happy days?
Running desperately, Liu Yao started to feel fatigued. Her energy was rapidly waning, and the sound of approaching footsteps was causing alarm.
She had to keep going. Liu Yao started running again, but as she turned a corner, she ran into someone. The force of the impact knocked both of them to the ground. Terrified, Liu Yao thought she had run into the enemy, but then she heard a girl’s voice, "Who is that? Can’t you watch where you’re going? Are you rushing to get married or something? Damn, my butt hurts so bad..."
