Gu Fan and Su Hui jumped in surprise, hastily retreating, only to see flames dancing in Lin Xi’s palm. She was clearly quite angry.

"Little sister Lin Xi, what brings you here with so much free time? Have you eaten? There’s still some leftover food here." Su Hui greeted with a dry laugh, but Lin Xi looked like she was in no mood for small talk.

Sitting down and crossing her legs, Lin Xi remained silent. But her gaze was full of intimidation, making Gu Fan and Su Hui feel pressurized. They sweated nervously, racking their brains about what they had done to upset her.

After a long pause, Lin Xi finally spoke, "Today, I’m here for two reasons: one is to thank you, and the other is to warn you. Which one do you want to hear?"

Su Hui quickly nodded, "The thank you, I suppose. Despite doing good deeds anonymously on a daily basis, I do enjoy gratitude."

However, Lin Xi seemed in no mood for pleasantries: "The gratitude is because you inadvertently saved Luo Jingrong tonight, preventing him from falling into their hands. Otherwise, it would have been a big problem for me. The warning is for you to mind your own business in the future."

Gu Fan’s expression turned stern, "If I hadn’t meddled in the first place, looking for the capital of Qianye Country and for our former classmates, things wouldn’t have escalated to this level."

Lin Xi remained silent, meeting Gu Fan’s questioning gaze. They locked eyes for a long while before both of them fell silent again.

Feeling the tense atmosphere, Su Hui quickly stepped in, "If you’re not comfortable sharing it, Lin Xi, then don’t. But I’m clear on one thing. Gu Fan might be able to let this go, but I will see it through. I can’t help it. I’m committed."

Lin Xi sighed, "Please, Sister Su. There are so many criminals out there waiting for you to catch. Why involve yourself in something you can’t handle? Do me a favor, and yourself. Stay out of this."

In response, Su Hui shook her head: "Not only the mysterious forces wanted to kidnap Luo Jingrong, but you, Lin Xi, Du Jun, and the guys from the old town too. What’re you guys up to, exactly? What’s so special about Luo Jingrong that you’re all making such a fuss?"

Lin Xi simply shook her head, "I’m sorry but I can’t tell you yet. This is my final warning, stay out of this."

"I’m sorry, but my duty wont allow me to back down. I will see this through. And if you intend to kidnap Luo Jingrong, mark my words, I will bring you to justice. Trust me, this is not a joke." Su Hui asserted, her face serious, leaving no room for negotiation.

Lin Xi was provoked. She raised her hand, and a silent force tightened around Su Hui’s neck making it difficult for her to breathe. Su Hui’s face turned red from the suffocation.

Seeing Su Hui being tortured, Gu Fan anxiously shouted, "What are you doing, Lin Xi? Stop it, stop it now!"

"You didn’t listen to a simple warning, so now you need to experience the consequences firsthand. Only then can you abandon this notion of getting involved." Lin Xi was relentless, her gaze becoming ever more intense, making Gu Fan very anxious. He braced himself and charged at Lin Xi.

As soon as Lin Xi flicked her finger, a violent ripple in the air sent Gu Fan flying, crashing down awkwardly.

"Alright, the warning ends here. Next time you won’t be so lucky." Lin Xi said, turning to leave. Su Hui, who was finally able to catch her breath, wiped her mouth. Her eyes showed not a glimpse of defeat. She even seemed ready to attack again. Being stubborn was in her nature.

Seeing Su Hui like this, Lin Xi also felt bothered, she prepared to discipline her again. Lin Xi aimed her finger at Su Hui, who was rushing towards her.

In a split second, Su Hui dodged to the left and right, avoiding Lin Xi’s aimed finger. Lin Xi had missed. Su Hui picked up an alarm clock and threw it directly at Lin Xi.

"What!" Lin Xi was hit by an alarm clock out of nowhere, causing her head to spin. Before she could react, she felt a great force slamming into her.

Lin Xi was quickly pinned to the couch by Su Hui, unable to move. She heard Su Hui’s cold voice, "I’m giving you a warning too. Don’t think you can act recklessly just because you have some skills. Catching you is no big deal for me. To deal with you, just one bullet is enough. Understand?"

"Alright, alright, I surrender. Are you satisfied now, Sister Su?" Lin Xi conceded causing Su Hui to finally let her go.

Once Lin Xi stood up and tidied up her clothes, she looked at Su Hui who was standing there with her arms crossed and a proud expression. It was clear that Su Hui thought she had won and was feeling very pleased.

Honestly, Lin Xi could have used her supernatural power to send Su Hui flying, but she figured she wasn’t here to cause trouble today, and Su Hui’s surprise attack did scare her.

"Alright, everyone’s stance is clear. Let’s consider it as ’courtesy before force’. I hope we won’t be enemies in the future." Just as Lin Xi was about to leave, Gu Fan walked over, evidently intending to block her way.

"Tell me, does Luo Jingrong’s life-extension medicine have anything to do with your ’eternal life’ thing?" Gu Fan’s question took Lin Xi by surprise. It took her quite a while to calm down; she shook her head helplessly, "You really are something."

Although Lin Xi didn’t say much, her response implied a lot and it furrowed Gu Fan’s brows. He couldn’t help but ask, "What exactly are you trying to do? What kind of secrets does Luo Jingrong hold?"

"Sorry, no comment." Lin Xi was about to leave when she remembered something and turned around to say, "Sister Su, your skills are commendable, indeed. But you were lucky to face me today. If one day you’re confronted with a devil, forget about defeating them, just run." After that, Lin Xi turned around and left.

Appearing amused, Su Hui said; "How rare, you’re still willing to call me Sister Su."

Upon hearing this, Lin Xi paused, turned her head slightly and smiled mischievously, "Because you are older than me, it’s that simple."

"What’s that supposed to mean?" Su Hui felt provoked and almost confronted Lin Xi for an explanation, but Gu Fan intervened. He reasoned that there had been enough drama already and requested Su Hui to wind down, clean up and get to bed as it was getting late.

When Su Hui saw Lin Xi walk away, she plopped down on the couch and pouted, leaving Gu Fan worried that she was upset over his not helping earlier.

Just as Gu Fan was about to console her, Su Hui’s eyes grew cold and she clenched her fists, clearly deep in thought. Gu Fan decided not to interrupt her.

After a while, Su Hui finally said, "I probably won’t be able to use that move again next time. I’ll have to come up with another way to take down Lin Xi."

Gu Fan began to worry, "You’re not really going to fight against Lin Xi till the end, are you, Sister Su?"

Su Hui immediately showed resolve, "Of course. It’s my duty. If Lin Xi still plans to harm Luo Jingrong, I have no choice but to do my job."

Gu Fan shared this hunch with Su Hui, instantly uplifting her spirit. This confirmed that Lin Xi was not as intimidating or as formidable as she imagined. Defeating her was indeed possible and not as difficult as she had thought.

"Gu Fan, I know this puts you in a tough spot, but considering the current situation, there’s definitely going to be a war between Lin Xi and me. When that time comes, whose side will you be on?" Su Hui asked sternly and seriously. She needed an answer.

Gu Fan looked at Su Hui resolutely, "Isn’t it obvious? This Lin Xi has nothing to do with me. She’s not the Lin Xi I know. Moreover, she used to hide by my side and use me for her own purpose.
