Waking up in the clear morning light, Leng Le rubbed her eyes, then lazily stretched and yawned. Turning her head to look at Gu Fan lying next to her, she smiled at the sight of his sleeping face. Her guess was correct: although this was Gu Fan’s house, his territory, he had considered Su Hui living in the opposite room. Leng Le requested so many dishes and Gu Fan had to go out and buy them, especially in front of Su Hui. If he didn’t, it would certainly irk Leng Le. She might then wonder why Gu Fan wouldn’t get breakfast for his girlfriend. Was there another woman involved? Hence, Gu Fan was left with no choice but to head out.

Upon seeing Gu Fan leave, Leng Le chuckled in satisfaction. She walked over and sat in front of Su Hui, a proud and somewhat provocative look in her eyes.

There was an unmistakably ominous air about Leng Le. Su Hui detected it, but kept her composure, saying, "Gu Fan treats you so well. Whatever you want to eat, he immediately goes out to buy it for you."

"That’s what he should do," Leng Le responded nonchalantly, her gaze fixed on Su Hui. Her intense stare made Su Hui feel uncomfortable.

Then Leng Le added, "I heard from Gu Fan that he has a female police officer as a roommate."

Su Hui nodded in agreement, "Indeed, I am a police officer dedicated to serving the public."

Leng Le seemed indifferent, "I’m very grateful for the good work you policemen do for the public, and I respect you. It’s a tough job, so I don’t mind Gu Fan having a roommate like you."

"Thank you," Su Hui replied, inwardly worried. She had a feeling that Leng Le was really stirring up trouble. After all, which girlfriend wouldn’t mind her boyfriend having a beautiful female roommate? Unless it wasn’t true love.

Leng Le continued, "I know you’ve been living here for a while and it seems like you plan on staying. That’s okay, this is Gu Fan’s house. If he’s okay with it, and he gets some rent money, why not, right?"

"Yes, yes! I’m very happy with this place. There are rarely any landlords around and the rent isn’t high," Su Hui replied, growing tense. She picked up on the implication that Leng Le wanted her gone.

Agreeing, Leng Le said, "Yes, considering its location close to the bustling city, the rent is indeed cheap. Plus, as I have said, I respect policemen like you, so I don’t mind you staying for a long time. You have nothing to worry about."

Hearing this, Su Hui felt a knot in her stomach, unsure of what Leng Le was planning. She had just suggested Su Hui should leave, and yet she was pretending to be very magnanimous.

As expected, Leng Le added, "However, I’ve also thought about your situation. I heard from Gu Fan that your position is at the city police station, which is quite distant. You know, spending all that time commuting can affect your work performance, especially as you serve the people. So here’s a good solution: my friend has an apartment near your work area, it’s empty now anyway. I can ask my friend to rent it to you at the same price as this place."

Once inside the car and sure that Gu Fan couldn’t see her, Leng Le burst into laughter. She felt like she’d won big time, so confident that after doing this a few more times, and putting some pressure on Su Hui, she would feel forced to move out, achieving Leng Le’s goal.

That’s right, during the last venture into the wilderness, Gu Fan performed outstandingly, leading everyone through numerous challenges to find Qianye Country’s capital, showing abilities and performance you wouldn’t expect from a college student.

Leng Le understood why Gu Fan could do such things. The first reason was Gu Fan’s inherent qualities; the second was Su Hui’s support from behind the scenes. Without Su Hui’s assistance, Gu Fan couldn’t have grown so much.

So Leng Le planned to sabotage the partnership of Su Hui and Gu Fan. She would do anything to make Su Hui move out, break them apart, and make them drift apart with the passing of time and distance. When Gu Fan loses his most significant support, he would become less threatening.

The order from the higher-ups was to initiate a series of actions targeting Lin Xi. To ensure these actions go smoothly, they needed to get rid of anyone that could obstruct, and the relationship between Gu Fan and Lin Xi could indeed become a big obstacle.

Leng Le understood the higher-ups’ intentions, so she intentionally got close to Gu Fan. Apart from finding Lin Xi through Gu Fan, it was mostly to neutralize the threat from Gu Fan. Leng Le knew that without Su Hui’s support, Gu Fan’s threat would be halved.
