Chapter 1672: Chapter 1672: Capturing the Beauty

In the East Camp, the X Legion had at least tens of thousands of soldiers, while the surviving Resistance numbered no more than a thousand. For the Resistance to break through the X Legion’s defenses in a short time was exceedingly difficult.

Under the efforts of Lin Yue and Zhuo Hang, they led the Resistance to shatter the X Legion’s second defensive line, advancing on all fronts.

It was now daylight, meaning the vampires couldn’t engage. No matter how strong the ordinary soldiers of the X Legion were or how fierce their firepower, it was no match for Lin Yue’s razor-sharp Jian Qi and Zhuo Hang’s overwhelming strength.

Seeing the X Legion soldiers begin to collapse under pressure, someone suggested to Ning Qi that she deploy the remould humans.

Ning Qi outright rejected this advice. Her primary goal was to locate Gu Fan—she even suspected he was already hidden among the ranks of the X Legion and would be coming directly for her.

"I didn’t expect you to endure until daylight and still charge out like this, but do you think this will make a difference?" Ning Qi sneered coldly.

Indeed, no matter how powerful Lin Yue and Zhuo Hang were, they couldn’t cause mass-scale damage to the X Legion’s ranks.

When the X Legion overcame the chaos and reorganized themselves, their firepower overwhelmed the Resistance, with countless bullets whistling through the air.

Jie was the first to realize the situation had turned dire. He quickly ducked behind an armored vehicle, narrowly avoiding the bullets that had almost grazed his body.

The other Resistance fighters weren’t as lucky. Advancing forward, many were struck, dropping to the ground amidst screams of agony.

"Everyone, find cover!" Jie shouted desperately, and the others followed his directive, converging near the closest armored vehicles and retaliating with gunfire.

Now the two sides were locked in a firefight, both hidden behind several armored vehicles. Bullets flew back and forth, sparks flew, and every now and then, one could feel them whizzing past over their heads.

The intense firepower of the X Legion made it almost impossible for the Resistance fighters to move forward. If this continued, and the X Legion forces from the other three directions converged, the Resistance would inevitably face total annihilation here.

What to do? Jie was desperate, pinning his hopes on Lin Yue and Zhuo Hang.

Boom! Boom! Boom! Zhuo Hang launched a ferocious offensive, sending X Legion fighters flying one after another. But for every soldier he dealt with, reinforcements from behind quickly filled in their ranks, and from time to time, a rocket-propelled grenade would blast Zhuo Hang away.

The X Legion was not only numerous but also armed with superior equipment and ferocious firepower. These advantages, paired with effective command, allowed them to suppress Zhuo Hang’s advance with a barrage of dense bullets.

Lin Yue’s Jian Qi remained lethal, slicing through everything in his vicinity. Bullets veering close to him were shredded instantly.

However, when grenades began raining toward him and exploding nearby, Lin Yue was overwhelmed by the shockwaves, his Qi shaken and blood surging uneasily within.

Given the overwhelming firepower directed at them, Zhuo Hang and Lin Yue could barely hold their ground. For now, the Resistance’s only real hope lay with Gu Fan.

In the moment when the situation had reached its most precarious, the ammo depot in the East Camp exploded. The artillery encampment was destroyed, flames erupting into the sky, sending shockwaves rippling outward.

"What’s happening?" The X Legion fighters were caught off guard, with those nearby thrown into chaos—injured, killed, panic taking over.

The X Legion had just reorganized limited defensives and resumed their counteroffensive, but the tremendous explosion shocked all of them. To avoid the blast, they scattered in all directions.

This was the chance. It was believed to be Gu Fan who ignited the enemy’s ammo depot—a spark of hope for the Resistance to break through.

With Jie’s commanding roar, the Resistance’s morale soared, their fighters charging forward like maniacs.

Conversely, the X Legion, stripped of leadership and thrown into disarray, failed to mount a strong resistance, with only a handful remaining to obstruct the breakout.

Drones hovering above transmitted video footage of the chaos back to Ning Qi, who nearly exploded in fury, barking orders for all levels of command to swiftly consolidate forces and reorganize defensives—there was no way the Resistance could be allowed to escape.

Reports quickly came in: multiple junior commanders were already eliminated, as enemy forces took advantage of the chaos to target them.

"What?" Ning Qi’s heart sank. No matter how large the X Legion’s numbers or how advanced their weaponry, losing command meant becoming an uncoordinated mob, rendering their advantages useless.

What now? Someone urged Ning Qi to retreat immediately, as the area was becoming increasingly dangerous.

But Ning Qi refused to back down. She hadn’t given up yet—losing a few junior commanders was minor, and she ordered others to assume command, rally forces, and take charge. Furthermore, whoever held command authority, regardless of whose unit they led, should take over immediately.

Ning Qi’s firm orders quickly stabilized the X Legion’s ranks. Junior commanders took stock of nearby soldiers and issued orders, rallying them into the fight.

Unfortunately, Lin Yue and Zhuo Hang wouldn’t allow such opportunities. Spotting individuals giving orders, they cut them down—one blade impaled them, one punch obliterated them.

X Legion soldiers, attempting to follow their junior commanders in counterattack, were devastated upon witnessing their commanders being swiftly dispatched. Their morale crumbled, triggering mass retreats in all directions.

Defeat struck like an avalanche—the X Legion’s East Camp could no longer prevent the Resistance’s breakout.

At this point, Ning Qi finally conceded defeat, shifting her focus to other directions. She ordered her subordinates not to block the Resistance’s escape but instead to destroy every vehicle they had access to.

That’s right—if all the vehicles were destroyed, even if the Resistance managed to break out, they wouldn’t make it far.

Ning Qi smirked with satisfaction as one vehicle erupted after another on the screen, relishing the despair etched across the Resistance fighters’ faces.

"My apologies, you’ve fought so hard, yet I’m forced to cruelly extinguish your hope—I almost feel guilty for how ruthless I am." Ning Qi’s lips curled upward as she cast a glance around the room.

Her subordinates noticed her tension and asked, "What is it? Did you sense something?"

Ning Qi replied pensively, "Our goal is to wipe out the bulk of the Resistance here, but our most dangerous adversary won’t allow our plans to succeed. He will stop at nothing to thwart us. That’s why I’m convinced his target is me."

The remould humans immediately grew alert, their attention snapping toward an approaching soldier wearing a mask.

"Target the leader first. So, Ning Qi guessed what I’m planning? No wonder the Dark Overlord values you so much." Gu Fan revealed a hint of surprise. He had intended to sneak up on Ning Qi and capture her off guard, but her foresight made it impossible.

Ning Qi’s expression carried a mixture of anticipation as she playfully wagged her finger. "Catch me and you win, but this time, you’ll never succeed."

Ten remould humans stepped forward, forming an impenetrable wall of defense.
