Those Classmates who Suddenly Disappeared -
Chapter 1664: Going Mad and Crazy
Chapter 1664: Chapter 1664: Going Mad and Crazy
Late at night, everyone was assigned to different rooms and one by one drifted into their dreams.
Gu Fan, however, tossed and turned, unable to sleep. His heart still felt uneasy, as though something was bound to happen.
Lu Yi comforted him with a casual remark: "Buddy, what’s there to worry about? Xiaojin already said no danger has been sensed."
"That’s because the danger hasn’t arrived yet. Xiaojin’s sensing ability doesn’t detect who might be the mole." Gu Fan lay on the bed, hands behind his head, and began to slowly recall the events on Demon Refining Island, trying to see if he had missed any details.
"You think on it then. I’m not keeping you company. I’m going to sleep." Lu Yi, unable to hold on any longer, promptly shut his eyes.
Suddenly, the walkie-talkie crackled to life with Jie’s voice, urging everyone to head to a room on the third floor where the Great Demon King and Lord Xiong were being held; something was happening there.
"What?" Gu Fan immediately jumped out of bed and dashed toward the third floor.
Lu Yi, driven by curiosity but reluctant to get up, groaned in frustration. He had just fallen asleep a few minutes ago, right at the cusp of a sweet dream, only to be rudely interrupted.
Gu Fan sprinted all the way to the third floor, only to find that many people were already there, including Zhuo Hang, who was supporting the trembling figure of Lord Xiong.
Previously, both the Great Demon King and Lord Xiong had been unconscious, giving the impression that they had suffered severe injuries and would remain comatose for a long time.
Who would have thought that Lord Xiong’s body would show signs of awakening, prompting everyone to be called over immediately.
Jie also arrived and glanced at Lord Xiong, who seemed about to open his eyes, and then at the still motionless Great Demon King. Something felt off. Logically, the Great Demon King should’ve been the first to awaken, as his strength surpassed that of Lord Xiong.
Some began to discuss whether they should take Lord Xiong to the Southern District for a more thorough examination.
Within moments, the others had arrived too—Leng Feng, Gu Xiaojin, and Lin Yue.
It was also at this moment that the Great Demon King regained consciousness and slowly stood up. His gaze was distant and lifeless, akin to that of a zombie, making people suspect he was still mentally unclear after being held captive for so long.
Gu Xiaojin instantly sensed danger and immediately warned everyone to stay away from the Great Demon King.
But it was too late. Zhuo Hang, still supporting Lord Xiong, was trying to wake him up. Suddenly, Lord Xiong awakened on his own, his eyes snapping open, emanating a murderous gleam.
Before Zhuo Hang could fully process Gu Xiaojin’s warning, he was struck by a heavy punch.
"What’s going on?" Seeing Zhuo Hang sent flying by Lord Xiong, everyone shouted at Lord Xiong, only to receive a beast-like growl in response.
Not only Lord Xiong but also the Great Demon King exhibited the same behavior. The two of them stared at everyone as if possessed, sending waves of fear through the crowd.
Gu Fan spoke up: "Everyone be careful! It looks like the Great Demon King has tampered with their consciousness. Right now, they probably don’t recognize us, have no idea what’s going on, and might not even remember who they are."
"No way, this brutal?" Leng Feng exclaimed, his face darkening slightly. He glanced at Lin Yue and then at Gu Fan, both of whom wore similarly grim expressions.
The Great Demon King and Lord Xiong roared furiously and charged in two different directions, targeting two individuals.
"Alright, so you chose me, huh?" Gu Fan saw the Great Demon King charging at him like a mad beast. He struck a defensive pose, intending to block the attack and get a sense of the Great Demon King’s strength in this era.
But with just a single strike, the Great Demon King shattered Gu Fan’s arm, the shock from the blow completely eclipsing the pain. This level of power was utterly terrifying.
Gu Fan quickly activated his three major recovery abilities, and his injuries healed in an instant. Yet the Great Demon King’s follow-up strike broke through Gu Fan’s defenses and hit him even harder.
"This strength..." Gu Fan took a punch to the chest, feeling the overwhelming force as if it could pierce through his entire body.
By now, Gu Fan had lost count of how many times he had been sent flying in the battle, but this last hit was by far the most devastating and hardest to endure.
A mouthful of fresh blood spurted from Gu Fan’s lips. He had no choice—the Great Demon King’s power was simply overwhelming.
Now Gu Fan finally understood why Ning Qi had brought so many elites to chase him down—to keep him out of critical laboratories. They feared Gu Fan might see through the trap.
If the rescue operation had seemed too easy, Gu Fan would definitely have noticed the oddities and aborted the mission.
Instead, Ning Qi’s appearance, along with the coordinated action of several experts, placed intense pressure on Gu Fan, creating the illusion that the enemy was intent on blocking their rescue of the Great Demon King and Lord Xiong.
But in truth, the rescue operation faced surprisingly little resistance. Zhuo Hang and the others had successfully freed the Great Demon King and Lord Xiong.
"Damn it! Ning Qi, you vile woman!" Gu Fan couldn’t help but curse, though he knew he still had to face the situation at hand. He needed to adjust his mindset and focus on the fight.
The Great Demon King roared like thunder, violent and filled with murderous intent, having completely lost his sanity. It was clear he had been manipulated and was now fighting like a crazed warmonger.
Escape was not an option. Gu Fan steeled himself for battle, throwing a heavy punch to clash with the Great Demon King.
Roaring incessantly, the Great Demon King charged forward furiously, using his body to ram into Gu Fan’s fist head-on. The impact forcibly dispersed Gu Fan’s punch.
Gu Fan was completely unprepared for the Great Demon King’s immense strength, which had grown terrifyingly potent. Soon, Gu Fan was sent flying again, dragging across the ground and leaving a deep trail behind him.
"So, Gu Fan, how do you like this gift?" In Gu Fan’s mind, he imagined Ning Qi’s smug voice declaring victory.
Quickly, Gu Fan rose again, rubbing his aching body and furrowing his brows. He had no time to dwell on the mental illusion of Ning Qi’s words; his attention was fixed on the horrifying opponent before him.
The room wasn’t large, and within this confined space, Gu Fan battled the Great Demon King while Zhuo Hang faced off against Lord Xiong. The clash was fierce, impacting everyone in the surroundings.
"Hurry, evacuate! Get out of here!" Jie yelled urgently, but it was no use. The room’s narrow door couldn’t accommodate everyone at once, and the crowd became chaotic as they squeezed to escape, plunging the scene into disorder.
Leng Feng and Lin Yue, outside the room, were pulling people out, dragging them like little chickens while the sounds of intense combat echoed from within.
Unfortunately, Gu Fan took a heavy blow and was sent flying outward, crashing into the packed crowd at the door.
In an instant, the tightly congested group at the door was struck with tremendous force, scattering and collapsing in a heap, cries of pain ringing out.
Leng Feng and Lin Yue were caught off guard at the door, sent flying by the human avalanche. They felt their Qi churning and found it hard to recover.
